A very random curiosity, because I have a 8 gig Zune. Love it, only reason I'm getting rid of it is to help pay for the 30 gig Zune I'm saving for. So what's everyone else digital poison?

I have an Ipod, but I got it before Zune's were popular, but I don't know many people with a zune, so I'm just gonna stick with an ipod

I got a mini video iPod a day ago. I plan on getting a 8 gig Zune, though, so I can hook it up to my 360.

2 gig iPod shuffle, I have my playlist memorized...

i went from radio to tape, tape to cd, cd to PSP, PSP to generic MP3 player, GMP3P to iPod.
30 gigs of music, but it won't play on my 360 T_T

I have a Zune. I figure, I haven't gone Mac yet, so why start with an MP3 player?

Also I got 4G Zune barely used from some chick I made out with one time for like, $80 bucks American. A good price for something that would normally cost like, $150. I like it alot better than the shitty RCA Pearl I was using before hand.

I have a Creative Zen. One of those Vision ones. I loves it. The bottom smells of fruit.

Other: Sandisk Sansa e250. 2 gigs, but you can get them in 2/4/or 8 gig variants, and they all have FM tuners (take that iPod!).

At the time I couldn't argue with the price: Last year about this time I payed $30 CAD including shipping. I got a 2 gig SD Micro and wouldn't switch to any other player I've seen.

The screen is nice and vibrant, I love the default firmware, but it's also compatible with Rockbox (for you iPod lovers). Only problem is some people apparently get lemons, but everyone I know who has one loves the little thing.

EDIT: Before that I used a:
- PSP with a 4 gig memory stick
- before that was an MPIO FL100 (worst MP3 player I've ever had the displeasure of holding in my hands)
- and way back in like grade 7 I had an MP3 player called a VaroMan. 32 megs of internal memory, and a 32 meg Smart Media card :P.

I'm in the "other" category. My first mp3 player was the MPIO FL100, great sound and very pretty but the software was crap. My current player is a Samsung YP-03; tiny, 8GB Flash, great software, but the sound's not quite as good as the older MPIO.

Once upon a time I had an iPod Shuffle. It died in my pocket one afternoon just after the warranty expired. I did not replace it and do not miss it.

Got my iPod for free. If I ever upgrade I'll consider it again.

Ipod nano with not enough memory for my liking. Still pretty neat-o piece of tech.

I bought the 30 gig Zune shortly after launch. I've been pretty happy with it, though I wish it was physically a little smaller. And it's a lovely shade of brown.

You can hook Ipods to your 360 at least I can(8GB nano) its nice to create a custom soundtrack on itunes for a game and just run that though the 360

Creative Zen Vision: M 30gb

I love it, but it's a bit bulky, so I use my 1gb iPod Nano when I go to the gym or something.

I got a Zune. I love the software, I find it much more user-friendly than iTunes. You can actually get music off someone else's device without completely connecting it with your computer at the hip.

i have a 30g ipod video from 2005. does anyone know what i can do to make it work? my friend's one works just fine and i'm getting annoyed i have to listen to "meh" battle music when i can fire up a good Rammstein track.

I hate the Ipod (because I think the sound options are way too limited) and I've never really tried the Zune because I've always stuck to Creative Labs. I started out with the Zen Micro, then moved to the Zen Vision M and now I own a Creative Zen (yeah, now it's just Zen). Creative products tend to have excelent sound customization options and sound quality which are the most important things to me when it comes to MP3 players.

4GB iPod Nano - second generation, not enough space at all.

Also, my all-purpose pocket machine, a Palm T|X, with an SD card slot which allows for up to 2GB cards. Apart from using it as a music player, I can also do a hell of a lot more with it, with some of the more impressive features including a working port of Doom (with a working port of Quake possible to obtain, if you have certain memory hacks), an emulator with support for a hell of a lot of consoles, a port of the ScummVM emulator and an incomplete-support version of Opie Linux.

That said, I play most of my music on my desktop, and I believe I once wrote this:

As for the music players, they are, in fact, more similar than their internals would dictate - they're all currently based on the ARM processor architecture, which means, in simple terms, that there's surprisingly very little difference between an iPod and a Creative Zen, or a Zune, or any other music player. In fact, most home computers are more dissimilar from each other than these music players.

although my cousin did get one. and i've gotta say to use, it isn't half bad... but functionality isn't everything... asthetics are a major player too, and iPods look damn nice.... in my opinion anyway....

Personally, I'm still relying on my iRiver HP-140. It's *huge*, like brick compared to modern iPods, and it only has a black and white text-based interface, but it's got 40 gigs and the sound quality still beats most other players. They used to be the top choice for audiophiles, but iRiver seemed to have shifted focus in recent years.

I might have to replace it within the next year as the battery has slowly been deteriorating, but it's taken four years of near constant use which I've been very imressed with. The trouble is, there isn't another player like it on the market. I don't want an iPod because I don't want to touch iTunes and I've heard mixed reviews about the sound quality. I know there are other ways of managing your iPod, but I want something which is recognised as a USB storage device where I can just drag and drop files. I hate having to "sync" things, it's not how I work. Hopefully I can find something when the time comes.

iPods are far more popular, but Zune's are the closest thing to a second place the MP3 player market has. (Atleast in America...)

I've got an 80gb Zune. Black, with one of the Zune Original art engravings on the back. My fiance has a 30gb one. The best part is that both of us can use the same subscription account, and get just about whatever music we want.

I'm not 100% on this, but I don't think they're intended for sale outside the US at the moment. Maybe Canada as well. It was a common complaint when it was launched, and I'm not sure if that has changed.

I have an 8 GB iPod nano (3rd gen), which is just what I need. It's the only mp3 player I own, and was a wonderful upgrade from my DiskMan. Having all the music in one spot is great, and the video capability is a nice bonus. The thing I dislike the most about it is the choice of pre-packaged headphones. Earbuds bug me like nothing else.

I think they launched in Canada this spring... in any case they're out but they're not really doing that well. I was tempted to wait for the Zune launch, but the Samsung went on sale for $50 and that ain't bad for an 8GB player with FM.

I know, for atleast one sure thing, Zune's have very good sound quality, and the earbuds are fantastic.

I'm voting other. I'm saving up right now for the Archos 605 Wifi, and previously have used iRiver products, with pretty high satisfaction. Other than that, I have a PSP, which I like because it supports ATRAC, which is a lossless codec, albeit a DRMed as hell one.

I have an 8 gb zune, and I love the picture, and software it uses. It also plays on the sexbox, so thats good too. And i guess the new xbox dashboard is going to look a lot like the zune OS.

30 gig Ipod that I named George, don't ask why. I'm gonna need a 80 gig soon. Searching for a name.
