Religion is not a bad thing all on its own, but when you take the hardcore believers, you end up with preachy fuckwits who demand you follow their teachings or suffer the eternal hellfire of wherever the damned go with their supposedly-benevolent diety... Believe in "God", and don't use condoms or you'll burn in hell. Believe in Jesus and don't commit adultery or you'll burn in hell. Believe in Moses and don't eat non-kosher foods or burn in hell. Believe in Allah or burn in hell, and if you're a woman you'll burn in hell anyways...

They aren't doing their religion any favors, and the world would be a more accepting, caring place if these fundies would shut up and stop representing a faith they claim to follow, but only sully the name of.
And it's not just the hardcore religious nuts. Die-hard Vegetarians, Vegans, and worst of all, PETA members... These people try to force their belief system on others, with almost religious fervor and militant zeal. As covered in the "Vegetarian" thread, there is a lot of hate out there towards the herbivores of the human race, the hatred comes from the pushiness of the hardcore vegetarians, but it lands on the shoulders of the passive believers. You say the word vegetarian, we all assume you're one of THEM. We hear Vegan and we all assume you're with PETA and are going to throw blood on us, and preach about how every gods damned thing we do is murder, and that animals are better than people. The vocal end of the vegetarian/vegan subculture combine the worst traits of hippies, terrorists, and religious fundamentalists, and are some of the most two-faced fucking hypocrites on earth... If you say anything against their beliefs, they start up on the whole "You must respect other peoples' ways" line, but when they're forcing their ways down your throat, it's to the tune of "Your beliefs are wrong, you must conform to our ways". These lunatics haven't done the passive vegetarian any favors, and any acceptance of their lifestyle is lost whenever a non-vegetarian receives an anti-meat speech from the vocal minority, just because he ordered a hamburger.

For any subculture or minority imaginable, there's a small percentage making the rest look bad. Gamers get a bad image because of the WoW addicts. The Fur community is one of the most mis-perceived subculture out there, at its base level, a "Fur" is just someone who loves cartoons like Loony Toons, but a small group of vocal outcasts have everyone convinced that Fur equals homosexual deviant who wears mascot costumes to hump other such people. How liking the antics of Bugs Bunny ended up synonymous with such a bizarre fetish I shall never know. Even Atheists... The belief in having no belief should be pretty simple, but we have militant atheists who don't just believe there's no god, they believe it's their life's purpose to convince anyone who DOES believe that they are wrong. Somehow we got a faith system as simple as a blank page, and someone still manages to read too much into it. It just hurts the brain to think about the idiocy in that...
So I say it should be every clique, subculture, faith, or fellowship's responsibility to track down the hardcore believers in their group and duct tape their mouthes shut... Maybe tie them up and toss them in a dumpster. Outsiders cannot fix problems in your own group, it never goes well. How good would it look if atheists had to be the one to silence the Christian/Catholic evangelists? All that would do is promote hatred between the two groups... But if the Christians were to shut the evangelists up, then it's a positive action. It would be the Christians saying "Hey you fundamentalist shitbrains. I was at McDonalds one fine summer day. Here's where the story turns bad. I was outside with myfamily all day, it was now 86 degrees out, and there was no cloud cover. I was sunburned, full of rage, and finally for the first time in two weeks got to hang out with my friend. SO, we decided to grab a quick burger. Unfortunately for us, the closest McDonalds that wasn't 5 miles away, was being protested. A few people, hippies I assume, were standing outside with their stupid signs, and shitty lymerichs. "Hey," I said, "Now, would be a sweet time to take my aggression out on them by eating cow." My good friend chuckled, so we parked and with a little effort, made our way in. As I get in line, some chick gets behind me, and here is where it gets bad again. She was one of the protesters. Calling me names, spewing hate, and generally annoying the shit out of me. (Apparently she claims I groped her as I pushed past them to enter.) "Excuse me miss," I turn to her and politely say, "I totally respect your views and what you do. You give a voice to the animals that noone else will. But, unfortunately you've gotten behind the wrong man. It's been a long day in the hot sun. If you could maybe bother my friend here, I'd truly appreciate it." To which she gave me a kindly "Fuck you murderer." and returned to her business of making my life the seventh layer of hell. So, after about twenty minutes, (the cashier was completely incompetent,) I get to the register. Now this lady is unrelenting. I turn slowly, and once again, ask politely. "Excuse me miss, could you please quiet down so I can order?" To my surprise she replied, politely, "Sure, no problem." I begin to order, but as soon as I start she yells, "MURDERER!" I turn around, "hah, you got me." I begin to order again, "PIG FUCKER!" I start one more time, "RAPIST CORPOR-" At this point my fist flies directly back as I shout, "SHUT UP!" I here an "oof" and some racket as she fell onto a table. I turn around, and two cops walk in.
"We received a complaint from the manager about one of the protesters getting too overzealous......Um, what happened here?" "Heat stroke." Replies the manager who had just walked out. As the manager spoke with the cops the cashier handed us a small bag with some burgers and a small note to kindly leave before the cops started asking too many questions. The woman finally regaining her breathe and whimpering was my signal to get the fuck out. And as me and my friend left I got a glimpse of what looked like I had managed to break her nose.

It seems to me that modern religion has toned down the hellfire and damnnation approach. If you read the bible you'll find that God was prone to destroying things at very little provocation for some arbitrary sin no one would know about if he hadn't destroyed whatever it was he destroyed.

That's pretty ridiculous. I'm a vegitarian, and a animal activist to a degree, but what those people don't understand is that they are hurting more than helping. The only way for real change to happen in the treatment of animals in slaughter houses etc, is to provide a viable argument. Nobody listens to fanatics, especially offensive, close-minded ones. If you yell at someone then their brain shuts down...they don't care what you have to say, no matter what. You could be offering them free money, but if you scream at them like a pterdacyl, nobody gives a fuck.

About that McDonalds incident, I really don't like it when people say "I was just getting a burger" when they're telling crazy vegetarian stories, because to them(and you actually are, SHOCKER) participating in the killing an animal, so it's not really getting a burger to them. It's like you killing their dog in front of them. Which most people would yell obscenities at.
What I hate about fanatics though is that(at least in America) they don't seem to actually do anything, all they do is protest stuff, which is just retarded, I mean I don't understand why multinational corporations would care that 20 people outside their main office don't like what their doing. The problem I have with animal rights protesters though(beside the previously mentioned problems with all protesters) is that they don't seem to actually care about the animals, when animals are being killed, you don't protest how they are being killed, you protest that they are being killed. It just doesn't make any sense to care about how they are being killed.
I'm a vegetarian myself, I used to care about everything so much, then... I don't really know what happened... Why I stopped caring... I'm still a vegetarian(actually vegan, well mostly, there's milk in pretty much everything in America), but nowadays it's mostly for the health benefits and the fact that after 2 years of not eating meat, I'd probably vomit profusely after eating some, or at least feel really sick.

A few months ago wal-mart announced that it would go out of its way to buy products from gay/lesbian owned companies (not quite sure how you find out the owner is gay, but hey I roll with what I read)
Now the call to boycott wal-mart went out in my religious community went out shortly after and a few protests were organized....I had the unfortunate pleasure of running out of food on one such day.
Most of the protestors outside the wal-mart were sane and stood their with their signs and chanted their little chant, but one man looked at me and decided "Hey, this guy looks like he might not care that wal-mart buys from gays" and proceeded to attempt and shadow me as I walked inside.
I let his banter about how "shopping at wal-mart is approving the eternal damnnation of millions blah blah blah" up until I got to the greeter at which point I turned to him put a finger to my lip and went "SHHHHH!!! You'll scare the fish away!" leaving him and the greeter with very confused looks on their faces as I went to buy my munchies for the week.
Upon my exit of the store I saw the same man as before standing on the outskirts of the line of protesters that created a small wall of people on either side of the door. The moment he looked at me he retreated deeper into the crowd with a slight look of fear on his face.
Sometimes to subdue the hardcore people (or the crazies) who attempt to spew their bile mixture of intolerance and ignorance in your face is to act so crazy that they're forced to abandon their blind fury and think for a moment or two about "Why did that man just tell me I was going to scare away the fish?". Giving you time to escape and maybe let that poor emaciated voice of reason get some attention in their skulls.

I don't think it's racist to hate religious fundamentalists. I cannot f**king stand hard-line Muslims. I have nothing against the normal (majority) Muslim community, people is people, their ways and beliefs are different, so what? But the real hard-line Muslims have a special place of hate in my heart because there is no room in their belief for the acceptance of others, it's their way or DIE. There are truly spectacular people in the Muslim community, especially amongst the women, who are trying to show their community that it is alright to interpret the Koran in a less-literal sense. People like the late Benazir Bhutto are trying to reshape the Muslim faith into something less chauvinistic, oppressive, and extreme. But there are some real thick headed pricks who are combating this change, and consider their interpretation of the holy text to be the ONLY interpretation... Their stance is that every woman is property, non-Muslims are filth to be exterminated, and that if they kill non-believers, virgins and bliss await them in heaven. Don't know of any specific woman doing it, but the organization that protests at soldiers' funerals, usually with the "God Hates Fags" signs, are the Westborough Baptist Church. They are the Christian equivalent of the Muslim Extremist. A vocal group of misguided fuckwits who interpret holy scripture to suit their agenda, and damn anyone who doesn't agree with them. One thing that renewed much faith in my home country Canada, is that just recently the WBC tried to cross the border and come protest at the memorial for that Canadian guy who was beheaded on the Greyhound bus a couple weeks back... The thing that renewed my love of Canada is that the border realized who they were, what they planned to do, and kicked them the fuck out of our nation. While we respect peoples right to believe what they want, we do NOT grant the right to force those beliefs on others, nor to make a public spectacle with your beliefs. I know, and sometimes the console wars can be just like that. I own an Xbox 360 and a DS, and I don't really care for the PS3 or PSP. I don't activley seek out PS3 fanboys and slaughter them, but if one of them hunts me down, I try to tolerate them, but eventually, I must allow the annoyance to manifest lest I get an anneurisim.
Ahaha! I must say, I have HUGE arguments with my friends over this. I own Wii, NDS and 360 and my friend owns PS3 and a PSP. Dam, that is not sounding good is it?
We both argue at each other, trying to prove which console is the best. Sadly, he is a huge Sony fanboy and just doesn't give up, even if I have proven my case 98% of the time. I had to admit that PS3 has some good RPG's but it doesn't make it a good console.
And worst case is, I spew my crap on other people about how "360 is da best console on the marker n00bcake!". To a limit, they understand pretty quickly how much better 360 is compared to PS3, Wii is it's own case, since it isn't really in the same class as 360 and PS3.

I was at McDonalds one fine summer day. Here's where the story turns bad. I was outside with myfamily all day, it was now 86 degrees out, and there was no cloud cover. I was sunburned, full of rage, and finally for the first time in two weeks got to hang out with my friend. SO, we decided to grab a quick burger. Unfortunately for us, the closest McDonalds that wasn't 5 miles away, was being protested. A few people, hippies I assume, were standing outside with their stupid signs, and shitty lymerichs. "Hey," I said, "Now, would be a sweet time to take my aggression out on them by eating cow." My good friend chuckled, so we parked and with a little effort, made our way in. As I get in line, some chick gets behind me, and here is where it gets bad again. She was one of the protesters. Calling me names, spewing hate, and generally annoying the shit out of me. (Apparently she claims I groped her as I pushed past them to enter.) "Excuse me miss," I turn to her and politely say, "I totally respect your views and what you do. You give a voice to the animals that noone else will. But, unfortunately you've gotten behind the wrong man. It's been a long day in the hot sun. If you could maybe bother my friend here, I'd truly appreciate it." To which she gave me a kindly "Fuck you murderer." and returned to her business of making my life the seventh layer of hell. So, after about twenty minutes, (the cashier was completely incompetent,) I get to the register. Now this lady is unrelenting. I turn slowly, and once again, ask politely. "Excuse me miss, could you please quiet down so I can order?" To my surprise she replied, politely, "Sure, no problem." I begin to order, but as soon as I start she yells, "MURDERER!" I turn around, "hah, you got me." I begin to order again, "PIG FUCKER!" I start one more time, "RAPIST CORPOR-" At this point my fist flies directly back as I shout, "SHUT UP!" I here an "oof" and some racket as she fell onto a table. I turn around, and two cops walk in.
"We received a complaint from the manager about one of the protesters getting too overzealous......Um, what happened here?" "Heat stroke." Replies the manager who had just walked out. As the manager spoke with the cops the cashier handed us a small bag with some burgers and a small note to kindly leave before the cops started asking too many questions. The woman finally regaining her breathe and whimpering was my signal to get the fuck out. And as me and my friend left I got a glimpse of what looked like I had managed to break her nose.
So yeah, I hate the hardcore outspoken people too....Maybe a little too much. Don't think ill of me, it was reflexive, I did not hit her simply because she was a woman.

In regards to Necro and protesting. I have nothing wrong with protesting. Protesting shows whoever's in charge that you don't like their way of doing things. However, that woman wasn't protesting. She was preaching. Even worse than that, she was insulting. If you want to convert someone, you should always try and show how your way is better, not how their way is worse. That punch was well deserved.

Religion is not a bad thing all on its own, but when you take the hardcore believers, you end up with preachy fuckwits who demand you follow their teachings or suffer the eternal hellfire of wherever the damned go with their supposedly-benevolent diety... Believe in "God", and don't use condoms or you'll burn in hell. Believe in Jesus and don't commit adultery or you'll burn in hell. Believe in Moses and don't eat non-kosher foods or burn in hell. They aren't doing their religion any favors, and the world would be a more accepting, caring place if these fundies would shut up and stop representing a faith they claim to follow, but only sully the name of.
And it's not just the hardcore religious nuts. Die-hard Vegetarians, Vegans, and worst of all, PETA members... These people try to force their belief system on others, with almost religious fervor and militant zeal. As covered in the "Vegetarian" thread, there is a lot of hate out there towards the herbivores of the human race, the hatred comes from the pushiness of the hardcore vegetarians, but it lands on the shoulders of the passive believers. You say the word vegetarian, we all assume you're one of THEM. We hear Vegan and we all assume you're with PETA and are going to throw blood on us, and preach about how every gods damned thing we do is murder, and that animals are better than people. The vocal end of the vegetarian/vegan subculture combine the worst traits of hippies, terrorists, and religious fundamentalists, and are some of the most two-faced fucking hypocrites on earth... If you say anything against their beliefs, they start up on the whole "You must respect other peoples' ways" line, but when they're forcing their ways down your throat, it's to the tune of "Your beliefs are wrong, you must conform to our ways". These lunatics haven't done the passive vegetarian any favors, and any acceptance of their lifestyle is lost whenever a non-vegetarian receives an anti-meat speech from the vocal minority, just because he ordered a hamburger.
Hardcore religion leads to fundamentalism, hardcore alternate lifestyles lead to activism... But it doesn't end there... For any subculture or minority imaginable, there's a small percentage making the rest look bad. Gamers get a bad image because of the WoW addicts. The Fur community is one of the most mis-perceived subculture out there, at its base level, a "Fur" is just someone who loves cartoons like Loony Toons, but a small group of vocal outcasts have everyone convinced that Fur equals homosexual deviant who wears mascot costumes to hump other such people. How liking the antics of Bugs Bunny ended up synonymous with such a bizarre fetish I shall never know. Even Atheists... The belief in having no belief should be pretty simple, but we have militant atheists who don't just believe there's no god, they believe it's their life's purpose to convince anyone who DOES believe that they are wrong. Somehow we got a faith system as simple as a blank page, and someone still manages to read too much into it. It just hurts the brain to think about the idiocy in that...
So I say it should be every clique, subculture, faith, or fellowship's responsibility to track down the hardcore believers in their group and duct tape their mouthes shut... Maybe tie them up and toss them in a dumpster. Outsiders cannot fix problems in your own group, it never goes well. How good would it look if atheists had to be the one to silence the Christian/Catholic evangelists? All that would do is promote hatred between the two groups... But if the Christians were to shut the evangelists up, then it's a positive action. It would be the Christians saying "Hey you fundamentalist shitbrains. You don't speak for us, you're making people hate us, and we're not going to let you drag our good name in the dirt anymore!". A world without the crazy radicals would be a far more accepting and comfortable place to live in. In short, keep the "Hardcore" in porn where it belongs, and out of everything else.
