I only noticed it because I saw some users had badges that stated they won this-and-that place in something, and I assumed it was over already.

Same here, I didn't realize it existed until way after it started.

I knew it was going on, but I'm not sure what it was. If it was seeing who was the better gamer, I wouldn't have stood a chance anyways, unless there was a Rock Band option.

Nope, no idea what it is, let alone where and when. Your problem was advertising. There was none. No one knows what it is.

Not that I'm a regular poster or anything, but my opinion falls similarly with those expressed above. Saw it, wasn't sure what it was, don't care for most competitive games anyway. Skipped it.

The what now? From the name I imagine its some sort of online games competition 'who on the escapist forums is best at CoD4 KOTH?' etc.
Im not really a gamer, Im here cause Yahtzee is such an acidic bastard, so it really hold no interest for me.

I suppose I was aware of it when I saw some peoples badges and the sticky thread about it in gaming discussion, but I wasn't really aware of exactly what it was and to be frank I couldn't be bothered to go looking trying to find out. A big deal wasn't really made about it either so I just figured I'd let it pass me by.

I may participate if there is one next year or are they only being held in accordance with the actual Olympics?

Actually, considering the event had a sticky thread in every forum category, I cannot claim not advertised...

For me, it's talent. I cannot draw, I can barely photoshop things, etc... And the games being competed in were more the online casual games than the kinds of things I play.

Next year, if we could get together a Battlefield 1942 server and/or Battlefront 1/2, or go multiplayer with classic RTS's like Red Alert 1/2, Starcraft, or Total Annihilation... Yes there's the downside of people not having copies of the game, and we would have to do multiple events for peeps in different time zones, but if we're talking about a Gamer's Olympics and the wonders of 16 Nazis trying to hold off 16 Yanks on Omaha Beach isn't included, it feels very much less gamer...

Oh, sidenote... The games I suggested are all both old and low system requirements. Hosting something high-end like Crysis won't work well because the more advanced the game, the less of us may be able to participate, and if some of us don't have a game but may be willing to buy it to join in, a $5-10 bargain bin game is more reasonable than $40-60 new releases.

I went into the movie trivia, think I came in like 6th or something and I accidentally missed Videogame Trivia, oh well.

I just chalked them upto be more banners that would try to annoy me in some way, I zone out when I see banners anyways, they could be advertising Jessica Alba covered in chocolate for all I know but I wouldn't take notice.

It was simply not my cup of tea. Though I would've done the trivia one, except i didn't have the time at that point. Also not a big fan of registering at a site for a one time thing.

What can I say?
I accidentaly missed the trivia's, I'm no good at photoshoping or drawing and I couldn't be arsed to create an Kongregate account.

I still hope that you guys aren't going to wait four years for the next one, I'll try and participate and I'd love to see the creative competitions expanded.

By the way, were the winner pictures of the photoshop contest posted somewhere?

I assumed you needed some fancy gadget. I have no idea what Kongregate is so I just stayed out of it because I didn't understand. And I didn't see any end results, so I just assumed it was going on somewhere I wasn't.

I was away for half of it, gigging in Hampshire. Otherwise, might have been a laugh :(

Unfortunately, I didn't even know it was happening until late in the events. A bad time to take a break from the Escapist I guess.

I generally don't play games online. My collection of games mostly consists of older titles, or non-online titles. I agree with Khell. If there were contests for Battlefront 1 or COD1, I might have joined in.

I could have joined the photoshop contest, I'm fairly good at photo-shopping things together when I put effort into it, but I don't have a photo-shop program stable enough to handle images larger than my avatar, and I was lucky to use it long enough to do that before it crashed. On my eighth try. I had all my moves planned out, and executed them quickly to get everything okay, then I had to do the more intensive editing with MS-Pain... t.

Sorry, I think it just didn't look that fun...

I saw the thread, but I already spend way too much time here, I usually only play first person shooters, I have a large backlog of said first person shooters waiting for me to find time to play (enjoying S.T.A.L.K.E.R. at the moment, an hour at a time), and I'm old - the old razer-sharp reflexes are taking on more and more of the characteristics of a bowling ball.

None of the events really interested me. I lack talent in photoshop or anything like that (the only content creation tools I can use are those from Second Life.).I know jack about anything Trivia Based, and all the games seemed to be casual games. I second what Khell said, but add that it should be Battlefield 2142. Because I just love that game.

I had a vague idea about it before. but I had know idea what the two things required were and how it would work. and I'm not really an organised competition kind of guy.

As "GamerLympics" I appreciate that you want to hand out gold medals to the best gamers... but arent online achievements for that? I will never get a medal in any online game, I simply suck... trivia of something that I specifically know about (about 2 topics) I might have a chance. Flash games, forget it (no hand-eye co-ordination), photoshop contests I don't have the artistic ability to imagine and create works of art. I just can't think of anything that I would actually want to do (entering a contest just to lose isn't as fun as you make it sound).

This isn't meant to be negative, I'll try to think up some ideas that might be actually useful.

I'm also not particularly interested in the online web-based games but am more than willing to splash out for a budget game if it means I can enter a tournament with people I'm already familiar with :)

I entered the trivia but ended up missing a few of the events. The movie trivia in particular disappeared off the list of events and only reappeared when it was too late. This annoyed me since it was one of the ones I was most looking forward to.

I was oblivious to it really. Must have had other things on my mind at the time.
