As some of you may have heard,Slipknot are now among the many other metal groups used as scapegoats for stabbings.

"In an apparent Satanic ritual, a Krugersdorp matriculant "with mad eyes" arrived at school on Monday with several swords and allegedly killed one boy before seriously injuring three more people.

The victim was a 16-year-old boy at the Nic Diederichs Technical High School. Another pupil sustained serious head wounds while two gardeners were also stabbed with a 60cm-long sword, said Netcare 911 spokesperson Mark Stokoe."Wearing his mask, he then allegedly started stabbing at boys walking past him, killing one and seriously injuring another, before turning on the gardeners.

The boy had painted his face black and resembled the drummer of the band Slipknot, said Krugersdorp councillor Alex Raubenheimer. "He said Satan told him to kill the children," adding that there were reports from witnesses that the boy had abused drugs.

Pierre Eksteen, who is in charge of a school support network for children, told reporters outside the deserted school grounds that Satanic music was probably the cause of the attack.

"He came here camouflaged as the guy from Slipknot. We know the wrong kind of music and drugs have bad effects. Young people need to be informed of the effects of bad Satanic music," said Eksteen.

It's ridiculous how the blame can be passed on something as trivial as the mask of Joey Jordison is the apparent reason for the killings and NOT something more plauseable like drug addiction.Which reportadley,he was using at the time.

Yeah, Slipknot is far from Satanic. This is part of the reason why I have so many problems with America. I try noot to be prejudice but then something like this happens and they blame it on music... I just can't help but genuinely believe that they are all stupid. It is certainly not Slipknot's fault for what happened and they don't deserve the blame (even though I want them to just go away and never darken musics door again) and neither do any other bands that don't praise the lord every other line.

Well if it isn't the music it must be the TV, the movies and especially the games he plays. It couldn't possibly be the drugs.

Must find scapegoat so my poor parenting isn't called into question!" and start saying "I neglected my child and noticed nothing strange when dressed up as Pyramid Head and carried a large knife to school, so I blame myself as a poor parent."? Also, wouldn't someone notice when the kid in question arrived at school wearing a mask and carrying swords? I hardly think it would be met with a "Hi Billy, nice swords, I assume they're for a history project so I'll just let you go on in."

nowadays, it seems no one wants to accept responsibility for their actions. Its just easier to blame music,tv, games, etc. Parents dont want to admit that they screwed up in raising their children. By blaming music (of any degree of darkness) another stab is being made to breakdown the arts in society. If a parent wants to blame slipknot for their kids wrong doing, they need to think about who it was who let them listen to it in the first place.

Slipknot couldn't convince a kid to kill, it's a F^ckin band, this is why i'm so glad i live in Australia. There's only about 3 crazy anti everything people down here, so games and music etc aren't really blamed as much for everything, like in American media.

The second anyone says "It's a Satanic Ritual!" they've labled themselves as idiotic. I've known some true Satanists, they're not nearly as scary as you'd think and tend to have a more philosophical outlook than anything. In my American Religious History course the Satanist and Evangelical Christian got along famously... it was very strange.

I know that rock and roll (that 50s crap) was blamed for juvenile delinquency, and this trend has pretty much continued, so I'm quite apathetic to this crap. I'm not a Slipknot fan, but I'm pretty sure their not a satanic band, from the songs I've heard, and yes to be a proper Satanic band you need to burn down a christian church, the exception being if the church was built on a site of worship that belonged to the preceeding Pagan cult.

You people need to learn a little more about satanism. A satanic ritual is done alone or with willing participants and no one is physically harmed in the process, unless it's used for the purpose of destruction, but that definitely does not involve you physically stabbing someone. And I'm not going to half-believe anything this reporter says until then.

I listen to slipknot and I'm slightly religious. I don't think they resemble satanic music in the slightest of way apart from the song "the heretic anthem" which has the number of the devil in it but it isn't shouting out go stab people so alas they must be hiding something.

Christ not this again. Anybody know about the trial of Dee Snider from Twisted Sister? Thought that was all settled with that court case and them making record labels put the "Parental Advisory" stickers on albums.

It is just stupid and illogical to blame music for peoples actions unless the actual lyrics are something along the lines of "Kill the innocent and rape the virgins!", which Slipknot is not frankly, and even then the album would have a sticker on it advising parents/carers not to buy it for their children/mentally unstable patients.

Just people lashing out at niche tastes because they don't understand or like them, in an attempt to create a lame excuse for a scapegoat.

Edit: After reading and posting in this thread, I went and ordered Slipknot tickets for December. Jeez I hope I'll be okay and I don't get sacrificed in some ritual involving wooden stakes and a goat.
