The videos are cool and to be honest, there's a back catalogue larger than any library in the world, but is getting overrated? Are we kinda bored of it now? Or is there a whole lot more for the sites members to offer?

It has a lot of good videos that you can't see anywhere else, but frankly some videos are terrible and the comments section is generally quite bad.

there are some really good uploads, but most of the uploads are just random people who think that people actually give a fuck about them, then they respond to each others videos with more videos and...buh :/, it just goes round and round and round, so many uneccessary videos, so much wasted server space :/

There are some funny and quality stuff, take gaming as an example. As well as finding any game trailer you want, you can see some excellant machinima, stuff from Dgitial ph33r is generally funny and can pass the time.

But theres also a lot of rubbish, so its hard to find the best stuff.

Great for looking up random things you remember- like the whole of Ghostwatch, or the Apaches safety video (traumatic for the kids it was aimed at)

People always tell me how they find these hilarious videos, but everytime I go on there all I see is a vast wasteland of crap. The most popular videos are usually the ones that have a pornographic title, and then of course it's one of those "haha fooled you" videos.

Not a huge fan.

Just reading the text makes my eyes sore, so I decide to get back at them by starting pointless arguments with my posts. Its like shooting fish in a barrel, except fish have the decency to move.

Tons of crap on there, but many gems too. I don't visit the site directly anymore, as the comments sections are universally toxic, but I do get a lot of good videos from YouTube.

Its good, yea, I watch videos what interest me. But there are to many fake videos or idiots trying to voice their opinion on a medium what clearly doesn't care (irony).

About 50% of the videos and 95% of the comments make me hate the internet. However, it can still be useful from time to time.

I agree but it's definitely true that there are a ton of funny things on there and some cool vids.

Yeah, that's why oneself makes sure they only look at vids they will enjoy. Sure, it may lead to staying in a protective layer of eventually boring set of a few hundred vids, but it's better than constant and annoyingly large amounts of Spam, Offensive material, Fanboys, RickRolls and porn.

On another note, I myself used to want to be a YouTube celebrity and now that I have over 270,000 total video views and almost 100 subscribers, I have long since cared.
Ironic, really.

You have to filter through half a ton of shit to find one video that's almost good so I don't have the patience unless I try looking for something worth while. Also, it seems that it's mandatory to swear or discriminate in every comment.

Then there's the "fan users" as i call them, you know the "JBLUVER1123421" who decide try to rip off your head if you make a negative comment. No seriously go to the page of a person associated with Disney (i find Ashley tisdale and the Jonas brothers work best) and make a comment about them that insults said person. Sure enough you'll get comments on your own page that say things like "UR ST00PiD U JUST WSIH U WERE THM"

It's just ungodly how many people there are like that on the website. They're all illiterate and they're all incredibly closed minded.

Going back to the comments, it's unbearable. A bunch of people who can barely type going "LOL THAT WAS FUNNY" or "THIS BAND SUCKS" only to be followed by "THEN WHY DID U LOOK I UP??!?"

Comedy videos are especially bad, it breaks down to <insert quote from video here so everyone can see which line you liked"

It's just awful. Awful, awful, awful. I only find myself using the site now for music videos (since much music here in Canada sucks so much) or other things that i find myself liking (arby n the chief is a guilty pleasure personally).

It's a good site. With an awful community.

2) Needs to update its architecture so it can more robustly support at least 720P streaming (along with broadband infrastructure for the US)
3) The comments in videos are almost always supremely idiotic (and hilarious/depressing)

That is EXACTLY how I feel about it.

Most of the videos are bad. Most of the users are stupid and/or aggressive. Most of the interesting debates quickly devolve into a waste of time.

I use it. I watch the TED Talks and Game Overthinker videos on it, while I also keep some football compilations on my favourites list.

FootyTube is better for football highlights; less bullshit.

A perfect example of Sturgeon's Law at work, but with enough good stuff to take refuge in that rather than look up the crap.

Some videos are diamonds in the shit stained bucket of diseased comments and horrible videos.
Digital Ph33r has some pretty good halo machinima. (not a fan of halo myself, but he does good things with it.) Also, You can see canceled TV show like home movies and futurama on it.

It's great if you know what you're looking for. 90% of the videos on there are crap, and 100% of the comments are worse than crap. But that doesn't really discourage me; I still do the occasional dig to see if I can find anything new and interesting.

I love beating the commenting masses with my big logic-stick. I know, but I'm allowed to fan flames there, since no-one reads the comments.

Some of the videos are good. Most of them are just crap. Although a large minority of said crap is just responding to the majority of the genuine crap.

Its great, as long as you know what you're looking for. Although the people who leave comments provoking racial/political arguments should probably be sterilized for the good of the human race...

If your talking about the videos then it's pretty good. They've got everything you could ever need to watch, of course first you have to sort though the crap. If your talking about the community than you might as well kill yourself before you talk to them.

I only use you-tube to watch video game reviews and random stuff mainly because its the quickest way to find content but you give up quality. Unless someone has uploaded it in a better format than .flv otherwise i was a big fan of stage six until they killed that sadly. Now i find veoh is the best for quality formats.

The videos are generally fun with the exception of:
GOD DAMN ANIME AMVs. If I want to watch a music video for a band, I DO NOT, repeat, DO NOT WANT TO SEE FUCKING NARUTO (I hate naruto by the way) every fucking time I swear I'll find some damn anime attached to the music.

Also every time I read the comments I lose a little more faith in humanity, to be honest after roaming 4chan for a while it's amazing I had any faith left.

Youtube can be fine. But as all of you probably know it's best not to scroll past the video unless you're armed for war.

Agreed. Some of the stuff should be removed, destroyed then the creator shot several hundred billion times.

There are some real gems, but for every gem, there's about 100 crap videos.
