Gone Gonzo Posts: 1180 Joined: 25 Jan 2008 | Ooh, I just remembered another one. It's more of a thriller and is more likely to terrify men, but Hard Candy's a great little chiller. Just don't watch it while you're eating your dinner. |

And it's British, starring Simon Pegg. That's all you need for one hell of a comedy. |

That would be The Host, it's a really good one, suprisingly dark and sad at the end, but otherwise really good. It's also pretty damned funny at times. |
Gone Gonzo Posts: 2220 Joined: 5 Jan 2008 | My top choices: -Haute (High) Tension: A French slasher movie; as one can presume from the title, it's very tense. -The Omen: An oldie, but goodie; if you haven't seen it before, do so-it's better than Exorcist in my opinion. -Henry: Portrait of a Serial Killer: Not so much scary as it is shocking, but good. |

Yea 28 Days Later and Evil Dead 2 are two of my favourite horrors ever. Also try some of the classics, like the early Friday the 13ths and the first few Nightmare on Elm Streets before they ruined both franchises. |

The only horror movie I actually enjoyed, ever. Although some people call movies I don't consider horror at all horror, and I do like some of those. |

Yes, just yes... I can't wait for the next one, haven't heard if they're going "Months" or "Years" later, but it will be a trilogy.
No, just no... |

Press Junketeer Posts: 422 Joined: 23 Apr 2008 | I would like to see more movies made about escaped mental patients. It might not be very P.C., but how awesome would it be to see a small town overun and held hostage by a gang of the criminaly insane? There would be one super crazy guy and... come on, it writes itself! |

That movie has the potential to either be the best ever, or the worst ever. No inbetweens.
No, you fool. It isn't a romcomzom. It's a romzomcom. With less of the rom, and more of the zom. Also some com, which combines to make a romzomcom. (Alright, I didn't need to add those last sentences, but 'romzomcom' is so fun to type!) |

Eurgh... The first Tremors is one of my favourite films ever, but the sequels are uniformly garbage. |
Senior Editor Posts: 2253 Joined: 9 Jan 2007 | Shawn of the Dead is made of awesomeness and win. And I'd forgotten about Haute Tension, I always meant to see that. I see that no-one has mentioned Hostel or its sequel yet. I haven't seen either, because although I'm just fine with gore, torture films tend to bother me rather a lot. Is either one at all worth watching? |
Wordsmith Extraordinaire Posts: 10303 Joined: 28 Nov 2007 | Haven't seen the second, but I'd pass on the first. It's a softcore porn film for the first half, then a torture film for the second. |
Press Junketeer Posts: 360 Joined: 5 Mar 2008 | I didn't really enjoy either of the Hostel films, although the first one was better by far. And possibly the remake of House of Wax, if only to see the death that Paris Hilton endures. |
Senior Editor Posts: 2253 Joined: 9 Jan 2007 | House of Wax is an incredibly enjoyable film. The death of Paris is just the icing on the cake. |

Gone Gonzo Posts: 1058 Joined: 2 Jul 2008 | Sorry if this has already been mentioned, but a semi-recent Stephen King film/adaptation - The Mist, managed to sort of combine Silent Hill-esque entities with some of 1408's depth in its delivery and some of its concepts. |

Really? Wierd, since it got completely renamed to 'Switchblade Romance' over here in Britain. Much better name for the film, since it gives you a far better idea of what the film's about. |
Infamous Scribbler Posts: 505 Joined: 17 Aug 2008 | A zombie is a reanimated human corpse. Stories of zombies originated in the Afro-Caribbean spiritual belief system of Vodou, which told of the people being controlled as workers by a powerful sorcerer. Zombies became a popular device in modern horror fiction, largely because of the success of George A. Romero's 1968 film Night of the Living Dead. There are several possible etymologies of the word zombie. One possible origin is jumbie, the West Indian term for "ghost". Another is nzambi, the Kongo word meaning "spirit of a dead person." According to the Merriam-Webster dictionary, the etymology is from the Louisiana Creole or Haitian Creole zonbi, of Bantu origin. A zonbi is a person who is believed to have died and been brought back to life without speech or free will. It is akin to the Kimbundu nzúmbe ghost. These words are approximately from 1871. thus making 28 days later a zombie movie. and a scary on at that. |

Time Lord Posts: 9745 Joined: 13 Feb 2008 | One film that's not been mentioned yet, and it's truly awesome. Awesome enough to recommend it to everyone. "The Frighteners" Not only has it got Michael J Fox, and DAMN can he act when he has the chance, but it's funny, touching, really scary and you will not work out the end scene... Seriously, grab it and love it. It's better than "Shaun of the Dead" and I love that film. |

To catch a killer - story of john wayne gacy played by brian dennehy
Henry: Portrait of a Serial Killer - loosely based on Henry Lee Lucas - REALLY fucked up movie. All over torrents so it's easy to find.
