Paperboy Posts: 18 Joined: 29 Aug 2008 | My name is pretty common. There's an NHL player (I'm Canadian by the way so YAY) with the same name as me, a bassist in the Chainsaw Kittens, half a dozen people associated with punk rock/alternative rock (why is life so cruel?), a character in a surfing movie (I don't know how to surf), a script writer, and an artist. I don't plan on becoming any of these, well now at least. |

Gone Gonzo Posts: 1134 Joined: 27 Aug 2008 | If you live in the U.S., there's an interesting name calculator here where you can get an estimate of the number of people who have your name. Mine is astonishingly common, close to 300 people in the U.S. have the same name I do. |

I have only met two people with my first name (even though it's apparently the 76th most common male name), but my last name? Forget it. Put that all together, and according to that link, I am the only one of me. I like that. [EDIT] For good measure, my brother is the only one of him, while my sister and mother are one or fewer. "Or fewer"? |
Gone Gonzo Posts: 1590 Joined: 9 Aug 2008 | According to that website, there are less than 335 people with my last name in the United States. Which is suprising in itself, because my name is a shortened version of a longer Greek name. Like calling a person originaly named Stephonson just "Son". So I'm thinking probably a good amount of those people just shortened there name in a similar way, because my Grandfather immigrated as a child from a Greek island, heh. I doubt there's that many of my relatives by name running around the U.S. |

Gone Gonzo Posts: 1590 Joined: 9 Aug 2008 | Googling my name leads directly to my Lost Zombies account page (because I want credit for whatever I put on there) and my Facebook account. Also some guy who my last and first name (but a J. initial and a Jr. also) died and got a obituary in the New York Times. Fancy. Apart from that I see a shit load of Greek websites (in the language no less). Also I'm apparently in a lame San Diego-based rock band with my brother Jason and a couple of other douche bags. Oh sweet! I played the House of Blues! |

Beat Writer Posts: 127 Joined: 20 Aug 2008 | Hmm... I remember a long time ago I was typing my name into Alta Vista (that's right, LOOOONG time ago!) and this dudes website came up. I was so ashamed of what he was doing for our name, I e-mailed him saying so. I was 12, so I was one of those annoying little brats once... |

Stereotyping, I guess. somehow all who know kung fu of any styles are ninjas(actually in my class, while we mostly earn karate we learn a few good ninjitsu if we're good, but I think this is off topic). Anyway my name is shared with a certain "singer"(I use the term loosely) whose moniker starts with "Ricky". |

Pulitzer Laureate Posts: 701 Joined: 4 Jun 2008 | We once made a story in school in a group. When we were naming the main character, I proposed really generic name, similar to "John Smith." Then this one girl says that's the name of her father. I was a bit surprised. Never met anyone with my name, but I think it's quite common name. |
Gone Gonzo Posts: 3314 Joined: 7 Aug 2008 | Well I feel anyone that shares their first name to me is a tribute to me. But surnames, well I have a very uncommon surname so if someone have both I well then they're just stalking me, and I'm calling the police |

Admittedly, I don't know anyone with my exact name. A few thorough searches came up with nothing.
