Me and my friends were talking earlier today and ended up on what comedians we liked the most. I personally love Lee Evans, Russell Howard and Michael McIntyre, (I am aware all are British). I love Lee as he is so energetic (I actually get tired while watching him), Michael because almost all his jokes are his own, and Russell is just inexplicable.

So who is your favorite Comedian and why?

Zach Galafanikis

Louis C.K. is great, too.

most of my favorite comedians tend to die, though.

Mitch Hedburg, Ricky Gervais, and Eddie Izzard.

I like a lot of comedians but the above have been the only truly constant.

I don't really prefer jokes for the sake of jokes, comedians. I prefer satirical observationalists.

Zach G. is great. Some others I really like are Patton Oswalt, Paul F. Tompkins, Dave Chappelle, Dave Attell, Brian Posehn.

I guess if I had to narrow it down, it'd be between Patton Oswalt - I like his intellectual, even sort of "nerdy" style - and Dave Chappelle - who's just a great storyteller and acts out each of the characters so well.

Basically I like bitter and/or damaged people that tried really hard to annoy and anger everybody.

Well, if we're counting dead ones.. then definitely Bill Hicks and Mitch Hedburg belong on anyones list who have functional ear drums.

Also, I'll add Brian Posehn, too.

If you're looking for a "clean" stand-up comedian who is actually pretty hilarious to watch with your family.. Brian Regan is a good choice.

Stewart Lee-Very intelligent man, full of wonderfully understated vitriol.
Lee Evans-One of the best physical comedians around today.
Al Murray-It's hard not to love his act. (He's Oxford educated!)
Tim Vine-Incredibly rapid-fire comedian, and each of them wonderfully crafted.
Mitch Hedberg-Not sure why I like him, but I know I loves me some Hedberg.
Harry Hill-Well, what can you say?
Eddie Izzard-Simply a very funny man.

Lee Mack
DAVE (UK TV channel) has been showing some of his live stuff and he's hilarious.
Sean Lock is also fantastic his 15 Storeys High series was fantastic and he's fantastic on any panel show.
Special mention to Frankie Boyle who makes Jimmy Carr look like a bed wetting toddler throwing a tantrum.

Two of my all-time favorites are Jeff Dunham.

And The Amazing Jonathan.

Both are great acts, and Jeff is funny as hell even in the bloopers.

I'm going to see one of my favourites, Bill Bailey, on the 17th September, I honestly can't wait. My fiancee and I are massive fans.
Other favourites include Eddie Izzard (I own all his dvds), Dylan Moran, Al Murray, Bill Hicks, George Carlin, Chris Rock, Ed Byrne, Marcus Brigstock, and Richard Hall/ Otis Lee Crenshaw (whom I've seen live, and is hilarious.)

RUSSEL PETERS

Seriously, if you haven't seen his work, get your ass to youtube right now. I have both his DVDs and drove two hours down to Calgary to see him live. This guy is the king of voice/accent impersonations, and he never fails to get me laughing.

Other favorites,
Billy Connely (Spelling?)
Carlos Mencia
John Pinette (Spelling ?)
Larry Miller
Phil Hartman
and exclusively during their SNL careers, Adam Sandler, Chris Farley, Dana Carvey, and Will Ferrel. These last few being less entertaining live or in film than they were in SNL, with the odd exceptions popping up time to time (Step Brothers, Happy Gilmore, Tommy Boy).

Eddie Izzard's got to be my favourite because he's just so damn cool. He's like the uncle I wish I had when I was a kid.

I've only ever seen Frankie Boyle on Mock The Week, but he just makes jokes that no-one else can make. Or at least, they don't seem to want to try.

This may sound weird, but Robin Williams is pretty good in his Broadway show. It's difficult to know which of his accents is his real one.

Eddie Izzard is a hero. His stuttering streaming-thought style is absolutely hysterical.
Frankie Boyle is practically everyones favourite comedian and it's understandable. He's definitely one of mine. He is RAW in the Mock The Week outtakes if you haven't seen them.

I watched Stewart Lee's "World's 41st Best Stand-Up" show earlier today and it had me howling with laughter.
Especially the bit about the Carphone Warehouse's "true values".
