Because generally i use the Escapist to look up info on games, but I will browse through the forums. And while obviously I am exaggerating by saying every thread/forum annoys me the amount of crap that you have to wade through to get to anything of substance or interest is overwhelming. If people started banging on about the stuff they tend to ramble on about on forums in a face to face conversation I imagine the conversations would be very short lived.
Discussion and debate are integral to society and to forming well rounded opinions, but I wish that we'd see discussions of value more often, rather than another thread whining about how console x is better than y, game z is so misunderstood, why is b hated by a, and people trying to be 'internet funny'. It's infuriating at times, some people seem to lose the ability to communicate like regular people when placed behind a keyboard.
And my god, I imagine the majority of us would like to see at least some attempt at using correct spelling and punctuation. Thankfully the latter point is less of an issue here, but when it crops up it still fills me with despair.
