How come no one mentioned the chainsaw rocket launcher?

The mace. I know, it's used a lot by holy men and women in games who feel it's more humane than a sword, or have some vow not to spill blood. Idiots. The mace can crush armor and skulls alike! And yet more often then not it'll only get stuck with some clothie, cleric, or healer and not used to bash heads at all!

Are you talking about the morning star or the mace used by old ladies to spray stingy liquid in your face?

Well...I don't think a mace could bash someone's skull in so... Anyway yeah, the morning star too I guess. These kind of blunt weapons always get relegated to the background...

Punching/Assassin Daggers. They were used in Diablo II by the Assassin, and they would look really cool in a game with full 3D.

Hands. Aside from Oblivion there arent many games that promote hand to hand (and do it well).

Instruments. Sonic Underground anyone? With all the rhythm games coming out as of late I'm sure they could think of something. Plus there is the "If you say one more thing, you don't want to know what I'll do with these drumsticks" taunt.

And my random thought: A clock radio.

The chainsaw spear. I have seen so strange an implement.

How about an RPG that shoots chainsaws?

EDIT: I've been beaten to the punch.

But really, knives and pistols.

Regarding the clock radio, I have seen it in action, though it could be considered a backfire, as it only resulted in their own demise (in Portal).

They are called Katars, and I would love to see them in more games.

Raw force.

Atleast in halo 2, I'll rather sneak up on a guy and punch him at the back of his head to gain myself an assassin kill rather than spending a shitload of bullets trying to aim with the sniper.

I gotta say it has to be the M16, I know we are making better ones, but all I see now is the its little brother the M4.

The hell are you talking about!! the designation of the M4 is M16-M4. or AR-15M4 if you can't get your hands on the good stuff.

The M4 is an upgraded revision of the original M16

They are in Condemned 2...All you have to do is get a gold rating on a certain mission I can't remember, and you get a Punching Dagger permanently for your left hand.

Oblivion did hand to hand well!? WUT!

Dude, seriously, play Condemned 2. It sounds like everything you want. You can beat someone to death with a mother fucking TOILET seat.

Those things if used properly are simply amazing as an offensive and defensive weapon, plus it can be improvised almost out of anything (Removable broomhead;]) and can pass as a walking stick!
Also I always liked that you could tell someone you just beat the shit out of them with a stick.

Firstly, just get a combat overhaul mod. They make hand to hand much, much better.

Secondly, yes. The Condemned games are fantastic.

Needler.

I mean, pink crystilline shards that home in on flesh and explode feebly but with great intensity when combined, why don't people talk about it? I bet all those people who don't play Halo don't even know what it is.

Anti-tank rifle! Preferably WW1 era. Supposedly the huge recoil and relative lack of compensators in these babies meant that the firer often dislocated their arm or had their shoulder blade broken.
Surely everyone can overlook this particular design flaw though, who's with me!

It's almost a bonus as long as I'm not shooting it.

You know the original animation for the needler-whip? The one where you hit them with the spikes?

Ouch.

Wonder why they didn't keep it?

Tbh I'm struggling to think of ways that this gun if implemented would turn out to be anything other than something which would be mildly humourous at first but soon gets annoying.
Hmm, maybe thinkee before writee next time

Probably because most good games recently have been in Sci-Fi or fantasy settings. But it was still in some games (like BioShock).

Odd Job's hat

I've never seen it implemented in a Bond game, how cool would it be to throw it, get the 'pppsssshhhwwoooo' noise then take someone's head off.

It was in Nightfire. You could play Odd Job in multiplayer and use his hat.
