After going through pretty much every PMP/MP3 player under the sun I bought the new 120gb zune. I'm satisfied to the least. Anyone else got it?

Nah, I don't own an mp3 player. It's just I don't think I've ever seen anyone with one.

I have an 80gb Zune - since there's no actual functional difference between the 120g and the 80g, I'm not upgrading. I still have 20-30gb free.

I am looking forward to the big update tomorrow though.

There are three here in orbital HQ. Not as many as iPods, but still the second most dominant species.

Sorry, I just assumed that you were saying that to be mean. I know of several people that have them. And I would rather have a Zune than an iPod.

Id rather lick chilli sauce of a chainsaw than own an iPod, looking at either a zune or a new sony.

iPods die. Easily. They're the Xbox 360 of the mp3 market, only without the humility/warranty-extension... and they've had problems for years now, starting with the notorious battery problem at launch and continuing on to flaky firmware (a friend of mine had one repeatedly "forget" where it was and start up in Chinese) and shaky solid-state drives that crap out just after the warranty does. When you throw in that they're always the most expensive player in their given bracket, I wonder why they continue to be so successful except maybe that most folks haven't figured out how to migrate their iTunes collection out from under their omni-DRM from heck.

But maybe that's just me.

Because I-pod is an over rated, over expensive fashion item, many people just go and buy them without checking the competition. I own a zen vision M 30gb, but looking at archos what do you think?

because iPods offer poor build, stability, software, sound quality, video quality, all for an over inflated price.

But what do you expect from apple.

The archos' look good, but they can be a little pricey

My friend just got through asking me why I didn't get a Archos. With all his problems he has with his he basically convinced me not to so I got the Zune. I didnt even know they had 120gb till I happened to be in Walmart and I saw it. Only thing I have yet to figure out is how to turn shuffle off on everything. Other than that I'm happy with it.

Zune FTW!

I actually have just a 4GB, cheap as I am. My entire music collection is just shy of 2GB so it works for me.

Zune's are great. Best sound quality of any mp3 player I've owned.. Easily. I can't wait to get home and download the latest software. If you get a Zune Pass you'll be able to stream 3 million + tracks to your zune over wi-fi. If thats not cool, I don't know what is :p

Me likey iPod.

No but seriously, I have had my 30gb Video for about 2 years, and I have never had a problem with it. And I basically abuse it, I have kicked it, dropped it, thrown it and fell asleep on it and I haven't had any problems. Although I rubbed sand paper on the back of it, I dunno why.

ummm you do realize that the sound quality depends on how well the song was ripped and the quality of speakers/headphones being used

and as for the zune pass thing, well it would be nicer if you actually owned the song, you're paying $15 a month to rent the song, you can't burn it or do anything really besides pay it back until they decide to pull the plug on you

Unless you're coughing up at least 50% the price of a player on some noise cancelling headphones are you really going to notice the difference in sound quality over the noise of the bus/cars/commuters?

yeah the zune has some very nasty drm associated with it, unless they've vastly improved it, the ipod does you fairplay but they stopped selling drm'd music, the zune doesn't, so while you still "buy" the music, they can stop you from listening to it any time they want. so yes you are renting it really

Then again I will never buy anything from a DD service such as iTunes, if I have to pay then I want something physical, if I dont get something physical I'm sure as hell not paying for it.

Most of my music is ripped directly from CD, the only stuff that isnt is some new albums that if are any good I'll buy.

I just use cheapie ones that DON'T require DRM "buy from us muhahaha!". I switched to PSP since I got it,annoying converting for video but still it has the added bonus of games.
