I'd say so. I sometimes use certain around the house things to make a prepared guitar which, based on my limited knowledge of brass instruments is the conceptually same idea. |

Copy Clerk Posts: 60 Joined: 25 Sep 2008 | For the record, I play drums, guitar, and bass. For guitar, I play with an Ibanez GAX70 and an Epiphone SG and a Guild Acoustic with a Digitech Whammy IV effects pedal. My drum set up is a Ludwig set with a couple custom Zildjian cymbal. I'm a novice at bass which shows as all I've got is a Squier P-Bass. I tend to play prog, alternative, jazz, and occasionally metal. |

Gone Gonzo Posts: 1587 Joined: 5 May 2008 | I'm a bassist and a lyricist (Yes I know lyrics aren't an instrument but to me they're just as important as one). Been playing for a few years now. I mostly play alt rock, reggae, funk and jazz but I'm open to playing more or less anything and have done hip-hop, punk and metal once or twice. My equipment is an Electric Blue Fender Standard Jazz Bass and a Behringer bass amp. Nothing special, I can't afford fancy stuff :P I do need a new amp though...this one's a bit small. EDIT: I've also done some synth work in the past (AKA screwing around with Garage Band and FL Studio until something good came out) made a few trance songs and some hip-hop beats. Nothing great, but it was a fun experience. And finally I do comedy hip-hop. Basically parodies of popular hip-hop songs (A la Weird Al). Most of which are about gaming and the whole 1337 phenomenon and pretty much all of them are Jamaican/inside jokes that not many people get...Oh well. |
Gone Gonzo Posts: 1664 Joined: 9 Aug 2008 | I do Hip Hop beats and I rap. Atleast, that's the only musical thing I've done on stage and have recorded. I was only paid twice for what I've done, however. Both times in food. Yes. I will rap for food. I've also taught myself to do deathcore/hardcore/death metal/screamo style vocals in the past year and am ready to join a band as soon as I get my schedule a little more clear. That's basically all that I've been focused on in the past six months, because I haven't written any raps or done any beats in a long while. I took a guitar class in my school and learned a few songs, though I mostly just played standard chords and a few simple riffs. Other than that, I got no instruments under my belt other than my voice and Magix Music Maker program. |

Here's my first vid, check it out. *warning strong language* *strong images* http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IObykt39Xsc I play guitar, bass and drums too. I have a few cd's with bands, no stuff online though, its all too old. |
Beat Writer Posts: 216 Joined: 25 Sep 2008 | I play both electric and classical guitar for a bit over a year. I have a Fender tele and some crappy classical guitar (should be getting a new one soon though). Mostly play Chili Peppers and a bit of Zeppelin and some classical pieces. |
Red Guard Posts: 5367 Joined: 14 Oct 2007 | I am with the violin. And the singing, actually. My main acoustic is an early 20th Century remake of a 1685 Nicolaus Amatus which I received from my grandmother. My electric is a Carlo Giordano. It's pretty. And purple. And sexier than just about anything. No amps yet, I've been lazy. I want to get some pedals too. For that truely brutal sound. |

Saxophones are awesome. Especially sleaze sax, a sort of noir jazz if you will. |

Infamous Scribbler Posts: 589 Joined: 2 Jun 2008 | I've been playing guitar since high school. I prefer acoustic over electric, first song I ever learned was Wish You Were Here by Pink Floyd, one of my favorites. |
Infamous Scribbler Posts: 576 Joined: 19 Sep 2008 | Guitar player here. And yeah, acoustic is much better. |
Infamous Scribbler Posts: 690 Joined: 8 Nov 2007 | They don't technically call it being a musician but I sing. Practically anything from from musicals to prog rock, as long as there's a melodic vocal. I sometimes 'jam' along some impromptu vocals with a couple musicians I know. Not necessarily words. But I can string together some lyrics to a tune as well. I'm still a bit doubtful on whether I want to join a band, usually they're not short on male vocals and its hard to find people with my taste in music who aren't at least twenty years older than me and a million times more experienced. |

That is one fantastic instrument, right there..... I've only ever tried playing an electric cello once, and it wasn't really all that good (people have yet to find out how to make electric cellos that are as high-quality as elecrtic violins) Now, how old is your acoustic violin, within the 20th century, that is? |
Gone Gonzo Posts: 2146 Joined: 7 Sep 2008 | D'oh.....Double posts and there posters should die...... I play the cello, and it's the most awesomest thing in da world. Let's see- my main cello is only a year old, made last summer in Chicago by a very nice Polish man.... It's a really wonderful instrument, and I didn't even have to pay that much for it, considering what an opulent sound it can produce... Oh, and my bow was made in Paris in 1900 |
Gone Gonzo Posts: 1197 Joined: 22 May 2008 | I play blues guitar. the 60s Clapton stuff is probably the nearest thing to my style right now. but i had a massive fluctuation in trying to play like David Gilmour fo a long time, I've only recently got back to blues. |
Paperboy Posts: 12 Joined: 14 Nov 2007 | I play the euphonium (Its like a baby tuba for those who might not know) in my university marching band and the same during concerts, i can also play the trombone a bit but thats pretty much it for me. |

Where did you study? Peabody? Towson? Someplace else? |
Gone Gonzo Posts: 2849 Joined: 8 Jul 2008 | I used to play the Cello really well, but not anymore... Right now I'm learning the Ocarina and Piano and I would be learning how to play the drums if I could get my own drumkit. I like the Ocarina because it's a wind instrument that you don't have to blow on so hard that you make stupid faces :D |
Paperboy Posts: 44 Joined: 11 Sep 2008 | I play the piano and am currently attempting to teach myself to play the guitar. Apparently, I play the guitar upside down and backwards, and since I'd rather not adapt to a new playing style I have to teach myself. Its going well, so far. |

I'm just curious if there are any people who play instruments here and if so, what kind of music do you play, what equipment do you use, etc.?
