Funny, in the Australian airing, he never kissed Liz. The former happened over here. |

Even If you disagree with the special effects comment, the Star Wars movies are like the Bible of movies, EVERYONE has one and at least 3/4 (according to the questionnaire when this was written) of all people on earth will want someones blood if it they are changed. It's like taking out part of the bible and transplanting it with Harry Potter or "10 easy ways to Kill people" and act like nothing was changed. |

Well-said. It would be a shame to take 3 such iconic movies and remake them into the modern realm of (mostly) mediocrity EDIT: Although, I would have liked the wookies to have been the ones to overthrow the Empire in RotJ instead of those ewoks. And naturally, I would have wanted the ewoks to have been the focus of that big offensive by the Empire in RotS, but oh well.......... |

Gone Gonzo Posts: 1541 Joined: 27 Apr 2008 | Yes, remake them! I'm sick of people too blind to see how crap they were! I enjoyed them, but c'mon. The 1,2,3 episodes were so much better! Better acting, cgi, plots, etc. If they remade the 4,5,6 episodes I would enjoy it so much more. |
Anonymous Source Posts: 1 Joined: 20 Nov 2008 | I don't understand why people hate on the CGI, I mean... are you really complaining about things looking fake? As if lasers are real, I would rather see Yoda looking like a complete badass flippin' around and shit then watch a doll try to make expressions (epic phail). I'm not a huge Star Wars freak so I think I would like to see 4, 5, and 6 remade. It could even say on the display box "Not like the original", I mean damn, if you're gonna bitch about it then don't watch it! The originals look and sound old, and also.... they should remake Spawn :X :D. I vote a Yes on remaking and re-emphasizing on how Jedi are complete badasses and fight like Jedi should. |

Better acting? ...You're joking, right? "I hate sand. It's so...sandy." On-topic, as a person who has always preferred Indiana Jones to Star Wars, I say...George Lucas, back the fuck off. You've done enough damage. |
Muckraker Posts: 260 Joined: 17 Nov 2008 | George Lucas ruined I, II, III. So if IV, V, VI are remade, he'll do something retarded and make them suck, that's for sure. |

Gone Gonzo Posts: 2335 Joined: 5 Nov 2008 | If the original trilogy was ever remade by anyone, Star Wars would die. A better idea would be to remake the prequall trilogy to focus on Darth Sidious and explain how he learned the way of the force, why he choose the dark side and how he became chaunceler of the republic in the first place. Then we would have 6 Star Wars movies that at least average out to be awesome. |
Gone Gonzo Posts: 1592 Joined: 9 Jul 2008 | The only part they should ever redo would be Return of the Jedi, and only then replace the damm Ewoks with Wookies like the original draft! Wookies are awesome. Other that that don't touch a thing, those three films are what Sci Fi should be, especially Empire Strikes Back. |

I smell bullshit. Not from you. You are right, that is what he said. He just doesn't want to release the DVD versions of the films, in DVD or better quality ever. So eventually the public will come to accept *spit* the Special Editions. I really don't know what goes through that mans head at times. I liked Star Wars and Indiana Jones, and apart from Episode 3 (which im terms of let downs... was passable, despite Anakins rather rapid 'oh, i'm sith now am i' descent) has felt like i've been raped in the eyeballs a few times now. |

I seriously doubt the remake would be critically acclaimed, praised by its fan base, or a box office success though. I wouldn't go to the watch it in the cinema that's for sure. I'm perfectly fine with the original trilogy and think a remake would be inferior. I know I'd buy the DVD, but just to compare the two versions, since I love CG. I have Advent Children and The Spirits Within and they were rubbish in my opinion but I wanted to watch them for their technical achievements, not for the plot. I already know the Star Wars story and a remake won't change that. The trilogy's days of glory have passed. It's time to move on, George Lucas. Give us something fresh. |

On the Record Posts: 5973 Joined: 7 Feb 2008 | Lucas already did it... twice. While some of the digital cleanup is nice the excessive effects wankery and the unforgivable script changes make them really not as classic as the original versions, which, like Raiders of the Lost Arc were helped by creative use of their low budget instead of harmed. I'd love to see a top notch sci-fi/adventure film director handle an Old Republic Trilogy or an Extended Universe Trilogy though. By contrast I don't think anything REALLY needs to be "remade" if it was good the first time. |

On the Record Posts: 5973 Joined: 7 Feb 2008 | I could take a complete "reimagining" though if anyone has ever seen the schwack of Steampunk Starwars stuff out there I think that could work as a "remake". But only if they cast Nathan Fillion as the new Han Solo and keep on Ewan McGregor as Obi-Wan (I liked him, it's not his fault he had a complete shit script) and give it to a decent writer/director team (Ideally it would be JMS and Gore Verbinski in my mind) |

Gone Gonzo Posts: 1766 Joined: 2 Jul 2008 | They should remake Episode 1 with: Empathetic characters. If the Jedi don't react at all to danger how are the audience meant to be suspend disbelief in the CGI 'illusion'? without: Midicloreans explaining the force. Just keep it mystical. Jar Jar Binks' eyeline not matching up with anyone he is in a scene with - I don't object to the concept of an annoying fool/hero of a nation but the super-tall snail-eyed look of his species just made it too hard to construct viable mise en scène. So it would help if that CGI model were rebuilt from scratch in a Special Edition with consistent sightlines. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mise_en_scène or, just make Willow 2. Only kidding... |
