First off, I apologize if this thread is in the wrong place, in which case, MODs, please feel free to move it to the appropriate place.
Now then. I'm confused as to how exactly one earns the Forum Vagabond badge. According to the description, you can earn it by posting on ten different forums, and I apologize in advance if there's something obvious that I'm missing here, but there appears to be only six sub-forums on these boards: Gaming Discussion, User Reviews, Off-topic Discussion, Featured Content, The News Room, and The Escapist's 2008 GamerLympics.
Could someone explain to me how one earns this badge? Thanks in advance. :)

The Escapist is part of a larger network, which also includes the WarCry forums. Your Escapist login works on WarCry as well, so if you post on there, it counts towards your badges here.

Ahhh. I see. What is WarCry? Is it a MMO forum, or what? What are the WarCry forums about, exactly?
whats so great about forum badges anyway? this is the only forum i use that has them and all the badges i have, i got just by posting without any regards to them.

That's what's so great about them. They have no intrinsic value.

I dunno, I kinda like the badges, getting them makes me feel good and I have a certtain respect for people who have ones that I don't, It's kind of like a "hey, you're good" sort of thing, and though it may not have any real bearing on anything, it is kinda cool.

WarCry Network is a network devoted to talk of MMOs, and has a forum for each one. It's pretty similar to the Escapist, but with a devotion to MMOs. Main Page of Warcry

I made no actual effort to get all of my badges outside of what I would normally do anyway. I think they're kinda neat, though, like achievements on games like Ratchet & Clank, or just about any 360 game. I like them, but you won't see me bending over backwards to achieve any of them.

There are a few badges which are really cool and worth actually working to get - the Contributor badges.
only problem is some people will see the badges as a reason to become a badge whore and try to get as many as possible to prove their eliteness. So we end up with useless nonsensical post\threads which serve nothing except get a badge for said poster and contribute nothing to the forum\thread.
Not saying everyones like this but someone might be.

Unlike, say UltraJoe.
Badges are fun, the same way as you keep mementos from concerts.

These "badge whores", on the other hand, will almost never be able to attain the top badges, the ones that require work.

Plus the Neo, Morpheus, and Trinity badges. Those are awesome. I hope I can get them someday. :D

For a detailed discussion, please see the original thread. There's just too much in there to repost.
Yeah, as a WOW GM, we occasionally make little 'events' and we've learned, as with the badges here, not to make prizes big or valuable, as it leads to competitive nastiness, instead of people joining for the reason of FUN.
All the time the badges are a fun aside, they'll be a good thing, and it does help to show who's active, who's been around for ages, etc.

They're like achievements in games. You either want them to prove you can be better than the game at itself, or you don't because you have better or more important things to attend to. They're there for some feeling of triumph when you do a certain thing.

Exactly. The PS3's creators have tried to mimic the Xbox 360's achievement systems with the whole 'Trophy' idea, but it's not going so well.
On an unrelated note, if you'll forgive me reiterating my question above, is there a list somewhere of all the forum badges one can get?
I don't know, but I for one would love to get that Beer mug and Neo Badges. The Neo badge, I don't know how to obtain. As for the beer mug, see me after 10 months.

5000 posts without incurring a single corpuscule of an angry video games' forum's moderator's wrath.
