I was asked this question by my history teacher once...

Suppose you were stranded on an island (hooray!), and had only an indestructible CD player with an infinite amount of battery life. You're only allowed one album to listen to for the rest of your days on said island (meaning actual, store bought CD. NO BURNED MIX CDs. I'm looking at you *pirates*, harhar). Which album would it be, and why?

Personally, I'd go with Octavarium by Dream Theater. Goes through a whole range of moods, so I could listen to any song for any mood.

I'd make a propeller out of the CD, in the CD player, and hollow out the trunk of a tree to make a boat.

Escape!

Yours Truly Angry Mob (Deluxe Edition) by The Kaiser Chiefs or Snow Patrols next album.

Damn you. Nobody escapes the deserted island! <launches a make-shift CD player/plastic explosive at corroded's precious little tree-boat>

Something with a lot of songs which I have never heard before. You might like what you like but chances are you already know all the lyrics and would soon get sick of it. The unknown cd wouldn't last much longer but it's still a bit more sanity.

The Beatles "Blue Album" Greatest Hits 1967-1970, since it probably contains the most songs I would never get sick of.

I had a history teacher ask me the same question, his answer was "The Story of The Clash: Volume 1".

The Bends by Radiohead.

Dark Side of the Moon by Pink Floyd. It's already established it's longevity and the mood seems to fit being on a deserted island.

Syncronicity by the Police as the "Message in a bottle" would be handy to tell my wife I was still alive!

I am no doubt about to be eaten alive as I have a vague recollection that is the correct police album, so bring it on sting fans!

On a more serious note Oui Avant Garde a Chance by Skyclad,

If I can bring both disks of Quadraphenia, then that. If not then I'll bring Dark Side of the Moon.

The CD I have of classical marches. It's upbeat and timeless.

The album Touched by the Crimson King by Demons & Wizards. Both CDs, mind you.

Either mesmerize and hypnotize by System of a Down (yes, it was originally one cd, get off my back) or All's Well that Ends Well by Chiodos.

Hmm. I just clicked on a thread called "Albums That Make You Want to Commit Suicide" on a different forum and the exact same albums were listed.

That's really weird.

I would get bored of the album within a week, but Lewis Black's Carnegie Hall Performance.

Something motivating that would keep me working for a better life for myself on that island... Probably Conspiracy of One by The Offspring or Psycho Circus by KISS

It would be an album on which I burned all my favorite songs from different albums.

I think it'd have the opposite effect with myself.

Probably a tie between Naive by KMFDM or Transmissions by Juno Reactor. Two timeless classics, IMO.

It's a tie between "Plans" by Death Cab for Cutie, "Mezzanine" by Massive Attack, and "In Rainbows" by Radiohead.

Has to be Appetite For Destruction by Guns n' Roses for me. Top to bottom its mt favourite album of all time and after so many years I'm still not sick of it. I would then fashion a guitar out of some wood and coconut thread (whatever the hell that string is called on coconuts outer shells) and teach myself all the songs.

You mean 'Regatta de Blanc' right? Synchronicity has 'Every Breath You Take', Regatta has 'Message in a Bottle'.

And as for my choice... Probably the Gram Parsons CD I have that has both of his solo albums on; mainly for 'Grievious Angel' though, Emmy's singing on that album is heavenly.
