Greetings, fellow Escapists.
Myself x434343 and I came up with making a web-comic with the Heavy and the Medic going on Vacation through the storyline of Half-Life 2. To be fair, he sent me a picture and I added some effects, and the idea was born from him.
Regardless, here's the first installment. Ideally we will do one every two days.

2008

2009

[quote="Anarchemitis" post="18.74570.919913"]The criticism is welcome, but just a friendly FYI to our critics, all the web-comic help I've looked at is just simply "Make a web-comic that's either a rip-off or a cliché, because the world will never notice", or no help at all. (eg. the web-comic Zero Punctuation). Therefore in a sense this idea is outright pioneering and trail/error for our part. Reiterating; criticism is welcome, but "Make it better" isn't all that helpful.

To be fair, this pic was easy to pose. Most of the work for this one goes to Anarchemitis, because he altered the color filters, opened the pod bay doors, added text, and made it all pretty. Really, it was just an idea of the Heavy getting mad in City 17 for the customs people touching Sasha. Then I had the idea. What if they went on? Would that make it awesome? Short answer, yes. Long answer, YES.

This is the loveable pilot, which is nothing like it's offspring. Trust me, you'll like them. Tomorrow.

I like where this is going. Looking forward to the next installment, assuming there is one.

Well, it's a journey through Half-Life 2. We came pretty well prepared if I can pose about 5 of these a day.

Best of luck to you. Looks like it will succeed with flying colors (and, by the look of it, Combine).

Oooh, I can't wait for Water Hazard. Gonna be fun to see how the duo handles that.

This thread is bookmarked! Keep up the good work, maybe you'll grow into a big webcomic like Penny Arcade

Love it. Look forward to the whole thing coming together! Big fan of the whole series of both games...

Concerned 2.0?

You are going to have to work a bit to make sure it doesn't look like you are ripping off Concerned. Make sure that you vary the jokes so it doesn't turn into a simple "Oh Heavy, whatever am I going to do with you?" kind of thing every week.

Good luck though.

We are not ripping off Concerned. Freeman won't come in, and we have an idea to go to the episodes. No wonky "Counter Strike teleportation" mishaps, and no weapons acquired from the game. Just a medic and a Heavy on vacation.

Did you tell the escapist about this? If it's decent they might like to post it.

"It's safer here" Ha, golden.

I can't wait for the next installment.

This is quite good

I hope you two realises this pumps my essential webcomic reading to 8

i look forward to seeing what you do with it

Oh I am looking forward to where this will end up.........

How long do you think this is going to go? Looks amazing, but seems like it could take a long time to make them depending on how intricate each "scene" is going to be.

Well, this should be epic, if it's done right. And pretty funny even if it isn't.

Any plans for appearances of the other TF2 characters?

Oh, definitely.

I think I can help with that, but ultimately it's their decision. I do like the premise though.

It takes between 10 and 20 minutes to make a scene in GMod. For example, I did a scene with 3 ragdolls and a bunch of physics props and it took around 15 minutes, because I am willing to compromise. I have a general idea, and then other things seem to work for me.

It then takes about another 10 in a name brand photo editor for a witty caption and something you'll see tomorrow.

You'll see one in particular tomorrow, but we will see all of RED and maybe 4 or 5 BLU. Heavy and Medic are the mains, so be sure to keep your eye on them. I'll tell you our little gimmick tomorrow about a very mysterious man with papers in a blue suit.

this looks cool, but then again I am a sucker for most half life related things.

Your wait will be justified.

This is pretty neat. I hope the Escapist makes this a feature and gives you guys lots of cash.

Cold, Hard, Escapist cash.

I do love cash. I'd probably take it to a nearby Best Buy and proceed to buy a PS3 to play LittleBigPlanet and nothing else. EVER.

Brilliant, simply brilliant.

Can't wait to see more.

I can't wait to show you all more.
I can't wait for someone to say "That's what she said!"

Well done you two. I am very interested to watch how this comic will be going.

Best of luck on it!

the monopoly guy:

In fact, we think there might be. I just need to build one out of tears and dollar bills, but I'll do it. It'll look awesome.

3 words:

Totally. Fucking. Sweet.

How very sweet, I look forward to more. Two days is wonderfully quick as well, none of that week or two long wait nonsense that most people do.

That's awesome! Looking forward to see more.

Anarchemitis:

Haha. I was actually going to say 'this is really worrying'. I wonder if it'll show up in quotebox...

Sha-wizz. Bookmarked.

Looking forward to this, guys.

We did it X43! It's a hit!
