Gone Gonzo Posts: 3252 Joined: 8 May 2008 | I really did enjoy the ending to the letter...and the middle. The font was easier to read before, it must have something to do whith the site. |
On the Record Posts: 7329 Joined: 23 Dec 2007 | ![]() And here Highway 17 ends and Sandtraps begins. Yes, I am aware we skipped the Zombie tunnel. There will be plenty of that in Episode One. Again we had fun with the WHAT IF concept of playing Half-Life 2 as a Heavy with only fists accompanied by a friend being a Medic. This was supposed to be a bit like the Matrix. Yay! |
Gone Gonzo Posts: 3252 Joined: 8 May 2008 | your letters are getting better, very nice work. |
On the Record Posts: 7329 Joined: 23 Dec 2007 | ![]() Coming up, Nova Prospekt. I enjoy the concept of which this comic is a silly photo to end the coast with. Truth be told, it was X434343 that made the posing which to be perfectly frank, was not up to my incredulous standard, but neither of us had time to do another, so I just called it a silly photo, like when people permissibly do rabbit-ears or stick-out their tongues. The Antlion Guard was surprisingly difficult to bring into focus. Here's a comic panel that didn't pass for the previous edition, but was cool enough to still get a public viewing. Also, concept art of the things to come. |
Gone Gonzo Posts: 3252 Joined: 8 May 2008 | I turn away from the camera in silly photos (and seriouse ones, there's about 3 group photos, with me facing away in the yearbook). Ohh, nice concept art. It kinda gives away the ending though, maybe you should put a spoiler alert next to it. |
On the Record Posts: 6226 Joined: 10 Mar 2008 | Gosh darnit, I can't read what the Medic and Vlad are writing. It's partly the font, but also the symbols behind the letters sometimes overlap what their saying. still awesome though, keep up the good work! |
On the Record Posts: 7329 Joined: 23 Dec 2007 | Doesn't seem all that obscured to me. I'll thicken the font. |
On the Record Posts: 6226 Joined: 10 Mar 2008 | It's extremely thin with alot of blank spaces where parts of the letter are supposed to be. For me anyway, it might just be that it's slightly pixilated for me. |
On the Record Posts: 7329 Joined: 23 Dec 2007 | ![]() We had lots of fun with this one, but it was a bit difficult to get the right props for the medics feet. Thank you animation styles of Chuck Jones for inspiring Grigoris gait. If you insist on an explanation in the font change, I added a slight shadow, and can be explained canonically so by saying the Medic presses the keys harder. Also accompanying this comic is our first official TF2 Spray, based on the last comic. No we do not do requests for sprays. |

On the Record Posts: 7329 Joined: 23 Dec 2007 | ![]() This went through several iterations, all with the same camera angle. It would've had a big ! overtop the cast, but I thought it too meta. Theres some links to these versions below, as well as a mess of manhacks x434343 made. The large light-flare conveniently covers up Half-Life 2s ability to not produce good dynamic-shadow lighting, or source lens flares. |
Pulitzer Laureate Posts: 979 Joined: 22 Mar 2008 | Hehe. I loved making the Manhack Machine. hehehehehehehe... -Imagines a giant Manhack Machine...- Suprisingly, it lagged on my nVidia 9600 GT graphics card once it got around iteration 2. |
Pulitzer Laureate Posts: 979 Joined: 22 Mar 2008 | ![]() Making a webcomic is like riding a bike. |
On the Record Posts: 7329 Joined: 23 Dec 2007 | It was a hyperbole in entirety. You guys aren't harsh critics at all, and it's a lot harder to make a comic than to ride a bike. |
Gone Gonzo Posts: 3252 Joined: 8 May 2008 | Heheheeee, that is great *smiley face* |
Gone Gonzo Posts: 4932 Joined: 12 Apr 2008 | This is great, my only problem is with some of the posing, they aren't lifelike but I have gmod so I know it can be annoying. Great work, keep it up. |
Anonymous Source Posts: 3 Joined: 8 Jan 2009 | Hey, came here from the Slackerz forum because I was scared they scared you folks off. I want to make you guys a website for this, send me an email sometime or hit me up on xfire (powersurge360). And dun worrie guize, iz freh. |
On the Record Posts: 6226 Joined: 10 Mar 2008 | ^^^ Well, this might turn out interesting... Still good comic guys, look forward to more! |
On the Record Posts: 7329 Joined: 23 Dec 2007 | ![]() Sorry for the tardiness. Yup, now they're going into Nova Prospekt and definitely will or will not have a plot twist. Alternative version that wasn't used because I thought the exposure on just that circle easily explained a light source and therefore was too meta. |
On the Record Posts: 7329 Joined: 23 Dec 2007 | ![]() So begins my favorite chapter in Half Life 2. Admittedly so far in making the Nova Prospekt pictures, its a bit difficult as there are no for real and true ideallic areas to take pictures of. Theres always blood and decaying corpses and rusting metal... Might make a good TF2 map if adapted properly. |
Pulitzer Laureate Posts: 979 Joined: 22 Mar 2008 | Babaycrab! Points if you can find her mother. |
Gone Gonzo Posts: 3252 Joined: 8 May 2008 | It will be pretty sweet if they battle the mother, let alone meet her. Nova Prospekt is my least favourite chapter. And is the dead headcrab intentional? |

Gone Gonzo Posts: 3252 Joined: 8 May 2008 | Well, technically I am part of the Half Fortress team, I am simply contributing. |
On the Record Posts: 7329 Joined: 23 Dec 2007 | ![]() Aha, Nova Prospekt. Stalkers are always fun, right? Funny thing, Imageshack gave me a hard time uploading, and it somehow overwrote the draft version of comic 34, so these had to be redone a couple times. Before March we will have a website, so get all excited and stuff. |
On the Record Posts: 7329 Joined: 23 Dec 2007 | ![]() So this is about as wide open as places get in Nova Prospekt. This comic reminds me a lot of Airstrip One, aka Britain in 1984. |
On the Record Posts: 7329 Joined: 23 Dec 2007 | ![]() So yes, the Pyro, Scout and Demoman are still alive. And the Smelly water has yet to arrive. |
Gone Gonzo Posts: 2342 Joined: 5 Nov 2008 | Great comic, can't wait for your website to get up. I would enjoy seeing more characters, such as the sniper. |
Anonymous Source Posts: 3 Joined: 8 Jan 2009 | Aaaaaaand we're live! So far only the comics pages work (but not the archives). The rest of the site will be finished within the week. Hope you guys like it. And uh.... if anyone wants me to do their website, my services are available, lol. |

Nice. Maybe you can make a website for my webcomic, which will not be shown to anyone for a few months. Oh, and Anarchemitis, you'll still be posting the comic here right? I didn't bookmark you for nothing, you know. |
Gone Gonzo Posts: 2904 Joined: 12 May 2008 | AWESOME. Aries is now your number Seven fan! WOO! Yeah! Wooooh! Get some forums so we can comment on them. You could become the next Penny Arcade. Probably. |

Maybe. Will there be fat stacks of cash involved? Just kidding, I'm still in the "prove how awesome I am" phase where I build free sites. Unless of course you happen to have some fat stacks laying around for me to partake of. Send me a message sometime. At the least, I'll be maintaining the Half Fortress site for a while. |
