I would want to go back and see Led Zeppelin or go see Jimmi Hendrix, I think that would be awesome!
The Clash before they got big in the U.S.A
Oh yah Nirvana gave concerts back then. The Pacific-Northwest was their stomping grown before "Nevermind" hit and it all exploded(no pun intended). There was this little club called Satyricon in Portland, Oregon that Nirvana was rumored to have played their some of their best early shows. It is also supposedly were Kurt Cobain and Courtney "Puke" Love met originally as well.
Oh thats right. Now I remember reading about some little clubs they played in for a couple of years before hitting it big. Both of my options are based on the "club" look like in the old tapes of the Clash playing, the crowd was right up to the stage and Joe Strummer was practically in the crowd himself everyone was so cramped together. I just think it would be cool to be that close.
Exactly what I was going to say.
Maybe Thin Lizzy? I don't know, trying to think of people with great live reps, who aren't around now. If I don't get to see him, Bruce Springsteen. I'll go back in time and see him.
Blink 182. They went on hiatus when I became interested in concerts... goddamn them...
Seeing the Beatles would be cool.
I would like to see Guns N' Roses when they were at their prime, and Axle actually showing up.
I might go see The Band, but that's just the mood I'm in right now.
Miles Davis! | |
....of course Nirvana played shows before they were big. And props to seeing Thin Lizzy.
Jeff Buckley Historical note: All that raggedy plaid you saw in the grunge fashion, and the ripped jeans, and the layered t-shirts over long-sleeved undershirts, and the hoodies under the flannel shirts under the leather jackets, and the knit stocking hats, and the Chuck Taylor shoes--that wasn't fashion, that was just how we dressed. And yeah, we really did just let our hair get that dirty. A lot of people did a lot of heroin then, and a lot of weed, which makes you not overly concerned about hygiene. EDIT: Well you didn't see it, I suppose. Most of you were about one year old, but if you did want to go back to see Nirvana when they were on the rise, go back to New Years Eve, 1990, at the Satyricon. Legendary show.
I would've have loved to seen Pink Floyd in the '70's, Or Metallica at the Cow Palace, or at the Day on the Green back when they were new. Are their any good bands with a good stageshow anymore?
Pearl Jam | |
The Who before they all started dying.
How could I forget Pantera?!
Nine Inch Nails has an awesome show live. See them if you can.
Metallica, Master of Puppets/...And Justice For All/One/I Disappear/Enter Sandman. If they ever do a show near me for their new album Death Magnetic I will be so going.
They did a show at the old "Q" Arena in Cleveland not too long ago, If they roll abck into town I might see them.
Have they gotten over blowing-shit up on-stage yet?
I would go back and see The Blood Brothers before they broke up.
I don't know, From what I've heard they've always had problems with the "Q" back when it was the Gund Arena.
They? I'm pretty sure Reznor is the only member of that band. The other guys on stage are just there to play the tracks he is unable to on stage.
Ozzy Osbourne and Randy Rhodes
Dio, Maiden, Zep, Beatles, Floyd, The Doors, and The Who.
Sure if you have $200 for a cheap seat. Myself I would check out the hardcore punk scene. No particular band in mind, as long as the Bad Brains aren't reggae yet.
Pink Floyd and the Beatles. Me, a few friends, and lots of mind expanding drugs would follow.
Hendrix, Zeppelin, Pantera, Alice In Chains, AC/DC, Nirvana...before their members started dying :( GN'R, Skid Row...before integral members where kicked out Soundgarden...before they broke up
Eh.. Mine's not going way back, but I would have loved to have seen Nightwish when they were in Australia for their last tour with Tarja. ;.;
Samson | |
Jimi Hendrix, though since I've never used drugs, if I actually made it back in time to see him perform, I'd probably be missing out on something by being sober. Johnny Cash, though, is another big one. I wish I could've seen him live. And, sadly, I will probably never see Bob Dylan, but if I could, I'd go back to the mid-60s, before he got WAY huge and was still playing in dives in Greenwich Village for "a dollar a day."
WHO? Don't you mean Cliff Burton???? http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cliff_Burton The REAL soul and spirit of Metallica died the night when Cliff Burton died on that icy road in Sweden. RIP Cliffy, RIP.
Django Reinhardt. | |

If you could go back in time to see just one band who either has dead band members or is never going to play again who would it be? I think I would go back and see The Doors at the height of their craziness. Those must have been some righteous rock and roll shows. My second pick would defiantly be Pink Floyd during their early years. Between "Saucer Full of Secrets" and "Dark Side of The Moon" would good be a good time period I figure.
