Daniel Craig watching that Parkour scene in Casino Royale is tempting me to get back into it.

I really liked the combat coreography of Casino Royale was excellent, practical but not boring like almost every Bond who just does the punch Daniel Craig seemed to be the only Bond actor that had bothered to learn a martial art...

With sebastian foucan (sp?)? He's amazing in it... But otherwise, why vote craig in for that scene?

Daniel Craig at moment, then Sean Connery.
I loved the Parkour scene in Casino Royale.

i prefer polar covalent, but that's just me. just joking but this is way to weird, i just had a chem quiz on chemical bonds and the extra credit question was; "what type of bond is involved in espionage?"
But more on topic Daniel Craig because he fit the description of bond that's in the book, as in he wasn't overly handsome, he was more of a scruffy kinda guy who wore moccasins.

SO... Don't mean to be awkward, but all of the Craig fans seem very vocal in comparison to the winning Connery fans... Reasons?

For me, its brosnan for me, just because my first bond film was goldeneye. It was the first(and pretty much only) bond girl i found attractive. By bond girl I mean xenia- she was hot right? Or am I just a little odd ;)

Also, he actually seems to have fun as bond which is something most of the other bonds seem to lack. Though it is true, he did suffer towards the end of his section of films due to the cartoony aspect taking over. Generally as an indicator, once Q disappears for good, the brosnan films go pear shaped.

Follow that up with Craig. I have no idea why, but i just like the new style (ripped from bourne) they are taking with the films. i just hope they manage to stave off the return to flash gadgetville and stupendously silly explosion avenue for a while longer, the only thing I fear about the upcoming film. Casino Royale was good because at times I felt bond could actually be hurt and die.

I don't want that suspension of disbelief to fade. At least for another few films.

Sean Connery has a cool accent. I think it's ridiculous that he isn't even British....YEAH!

How did you work that one out?

Please explain why Sir Sean Connery O.B.E. isn't British?

You know the guy he played in Highlander was just a character & he's not really Egyptian, don't you?

For me its Sean Connery ... the first bond films I saw were Peirce Brosnen (spelling?) so in a way he is who I think of as bond; however he certainly wasn't as good as Sean Connery.

Nobody else has his style, accent, or oration skill.

I come from the 80s. Roger Moore

Go watch all of the Connery Bond movies, then come back and tell us your opinion. Connery wipes the floor with Moore.

I watched Goldfinger last night. I didn't see any real floor mopping performance, but i could have missed something.

Sean Connery and Danny Craig are my favorites. Pierce Brosnan had one good film with golden Eye but the rest of them drags him down i feel. Rosamund Pike though...... i cant remember the name of that film but i remember her very well.

I have a ticket for the first showing of the new film here in Birmingham, i cant see it being a disappointment to be honest!

I'm one of the seven people who voted Dalton. He brought a chilly realism to the cold-war based stories that he was in. "The Living Daylights" especially was an excellent film in its own right, and much of that is due to Dalton.

Goldfinger-era Connery gets a close second. And oddly I think Lazenby was hugely underappreciated although he definitely benefited from an excellent script, villain and one of the most memorable endings of any Bond film.

Craig... look, sorry, but no. I've got nothing against his performance, I just think that two-and-a-half-hours of Sony / PartyPoker advertising thinly disguised as a movie leaves a sour taste in my mouth.

Moore - camp Bond. I don't like the way his outings descended into self-parody, especially with the likes of "Moonraker" (the book's opening few chapters has one of the best ever Bond scenes to NOT be filmed) but let's face it, the trend was firmly set with "Thunderball" and that was before he came along. Some of my favorite Bond moments featured Moore though.

Brosnan - action Bond. The films are vacuous, like the Bond he's portraying. He's easily my least favorite of the lot apart from Craig, but that's not because of him so much as it is because the films were, for the most part, just a collection of good and not-so-good scenes that never really meshed.

My favorite films: Goldfinger. From Russia with Love. On her Majesty's Secret Service. Living Daylights. (No particular order, they're all great.) Two Connerys, a Lazenby and a Dalton star, which seems about right.

I love Roger Moore's character in The Cannonball Run, a guy who was deluded & thought he was Roger Moore/James Bond, and the self-parody & spoofing of Bond which went with it, like the fact he had a different girlfriend in every scene.

I love even more the rumour Albert Broccoli had him sign a contract forbidding him to "spoof or make references to the James Bond character in any other non-Bond film".

It's good to see some appreciation for the novels. The stories were powerful enough on their own, the descent into farce and gadgetry went on far too long. It's fun if you're in the 10-to-20 bracket.
I don't want to give the impression that I think they're the pinnacle of Western literature.
(Surely, that goes to Douglas Adams. [/JOKE])
I only wish to point out that the books were much more serious than the movies. Some of them, such as Thunderball, would take the modernization process rather well. Others (Moonraker), not so much.
Be that as it may, I still loves me some good Bond. I like 'em all. I just happen to prefer the tone Daniel Craig's movies seem to have taken, as I think they're closer to the original character.

Okay, people keep using the plural when it comes to Daniel Craig. I know Quantum is done and all but it hasn't been officially released yet and I doubt 45 people got into some advance screenings and just happen to be posting here. The fact is, the vast majority have only seen one Bond movie with Craig in it and that clearly is not enough for him to be declared the best Bond in the series. To me, it's like picking Lazenby - you only do it to take the piss.

Not taking RufusMcLaser in particular up on this, just wanted to address this point in general.

I don't know many of the actors but I personally hate the new bond character. I liked whoever played Bond in the 1990's movies.

Connery hands down. Best Bond ever. Goldfinger is my favorite. He's just so...classy, not all up in arms like Craig.

Second goes to Pierce Brosnan, he fit the image pretty well.

Daniel Craig...god. He looks more like a Soviet Spy than James Bond. Doesn't even look the character.

I don't know about you guys, but there was one guy who did one movie where he gets married and then she gets killed, who was that?

I am going out on a limb and say where's David Niven and Peter Sellers in here. Such a short term memory. No one really remembers the original Casino Royale. David Niven did a great job making Bond a slight stutterer...fantastic.

I understand your point, but in my particular case I'll be shocked into naked incoherence if Quantum doesn't have the same tone and style as Casino. If there are remote-controlled sports cars with machine gun hood ornaments, people wearing jetpacks, and bikini-clad women wielding sniper rifles I will withdraw the statement and spend the rest of the decade in a monastery.

Actually I like Daniel Craig. Though I understand that the other movies were older, didn't have so good technology behind them, but the different stunts in Casino Royale were awesome. Also, he acts as Bond pretty good, with his smirkin grin on his face.

So yeah, either him, or Daniel Craig. Other from those two, the other ones are [Hehemmm, let's try to not use those words for a while]

Sean Connery's my favourite. I liked Brosnan but his second 2 films were woeful. Daniel Craig's good too, but not as good as Connery.

Let's see how well Sean Connery does parkour...

Daniel Craig is the best so far.

Connery definitely first, with a special mention for Brosnan as he's my "mental image" when I think 'James Bond'.

Now (assuming you're a gamer on the escapist) is that mental image of bond associated with brosnan because of goldeneye? or need I even ask?

Btw, also, I'm pretty sure Craig never actually does parkour in the movie... Only Sebastian Foucan... Craig just tries his best to chase him down and actually keep up... So don't make that comparison lol, cuz Connery rules.

Sean Connery, definitely. Daniel Craig is a close second, but you just can't top the original.

i know i am going to get flamed for this but...

i liked Rodger Moore (except for moonraker.) and i think he is under appreciated because of the "Sean Connery is the best" fan boy mentality. that said, i think the best bond movie is "never say never again" and it does have Connery.

Brosnan.

Well, he's the hottest circa 1995, anyway.

Anyone notice that Bond keeps getting younger? also, does Bond wear "bonds"?

PS if you watch the movie thunderball, connery did not require any "padding" like Daniel Craig. but there is a short scene where he has a bon... an erec... lets just say li'l Connery gets a bit exited... i am not kidding! not that i was looking at that... area...

Sean Connery, simply because the Scottish accent is sexy, and Bond is supposed to be a very sexy man. /gay

That, and he was pretty cool as an actor.

Connery was definitely the sexiest...( NOT THAT I WOULD EVER KISS HIM IN THE PARKING LOT AFTER THE PREMIER OF HIS LAST MOVIE! THEY ARE JUST RUMORS! LIES!)... but look at his competition... apart from Daniels eyes well... smoothness what competition does he have?
