Who cooks? Any recipes you want to share? Did you make anything good this week?

Personally, I find myself cooking a lot more as we head towards winter. I love home-made soups, leek and potato is probably my favourite one to make. So easy and completely delicious.

I did an awesome sausage bake on Monday, with butternut squash, onions, potatoes, cherry tomatoes and red peppers all sprinkled with rosemary.

Oh, and I've recently been introduced to an amazing salad... just fry up some bacon, chop an avocado, and mix it in with some lettuce, spinach and cherry tomatoes, with Pizza Express House Dressing on top. Absolutely immense.

I've always wanted to be able to cook. Unfortunately, I am culinary retarded. I do pour a mean bowl of cereal, though. *wink*

King prawns flash fried in butter and chopped garlic, served with mayonnaise, a baked paotato and vegetable ratatouille.

It was yummy. More normally I make anything to do with pasta, including semi-infamous 'random pasta' where you just grab 8 ingredients from the fridge/pantry without looking. Then you HAVE to cook a meal from those and pasta. Sometimes it works incredibly, other time it's just incredible that it works.

I do cook on occasion. Nothing major, mostly stews, casseroles and the like. Did make some paella for my family once, went down pretty well. Unfortunately as of late I've been cooking less due to budgetary constraints. I quite enjoy it though, making tasty food, eating tasty food :D

Must say since I moved out of home about 8 months ago one of the things I've enjoyed most is cooking. My flatmate doesn't really cook so it means the kitchen is pretty much all mine. Despite having no money I can always get some vegetables cheap (meat is soo expensive) and just make something up from there. I recieved a mortar and pestle as a gift from my girlfriend at the time's parents and my favourite thing to do is mix and match spices and use it to make up my own curries.

It's weird. I can't cook anything easy like spaghetti, but I can cook one hell of an apple pie.

Balsamic Soy Pepper Steak
1 Cup Balsamic Vinegar
2 Cups Soy Sauce
Fresh Ground Pepper to taste.

The Soy Sauce and Balsamic Vinegar should smooth eachother out giving it a smoky, tangy and sweet flavor without harshness

Sauce should be served warm/hot over grilled or Pan Fried Steak. This sauce should serve around 4 people.

I've not done a great deal of cooking. I CAN do cooking, but only if I give it my full attention, and preferably with some instructions.

So far, I can do bolognese, pasta bake, pork chops marinated and vegetables, and victoria sponge cake. When I want to. I also want to try baking cookies, because my girlfriend does awesome cookies. Or hell, just making the dough to eat would be good enough for me.

Bachelor Chow

1 shoulder of beef
1 diced onion
3 diced carrots
3 diced celery sticks
2 diced potatoes
2 cups rice (and corresponding amount of water needed to cook)
1 Beef Stew Spice Packet

Dump all of this into a crock pot and leave it on for 8 hours. It will then become a giant sticky mass of rice and awesomeness.

It's what Bachelors need!

Red Pepper Wine Steak over Pasta
3 or 4 Lean and Tenderized Medallion Steaks
1 Diced Red Pepper
Some Diced Onion
1 tsp crushed garlic
Red Wine
About 1 tbsp Butter
Salt
Pepper
Pasta

1. Slice Medallion Steaks into bite size chunks
2. Melt butter in a frying pan.
3. When butter is hot, add Red Pepper, Garlic and Onion, fry until lightly browned/carmalized
4. Reduce heat, then add and brown the steak chunks, low heat ensures that the steaks juices won't cook away.
5. Once steak is browned remove the steak from the mixture with a fork or slotted spoon, ensuring you leave as much steak juice in the pan as possible.
6. Add the wine and bring to a simmer, ensure that the steak juice isn't cooking to the pan.
7. Return the Browned Steak to the pan and finish cooking to desired tenderness.
8. Add Salt and Pepper to taste.
9. Serve over desired Pasta.

Olive Oil is an acceptable substitute for butter, as is Canola Oil.

I love to cook.

On a regular basis, I generally only make omelets. My dad has conceded that I'm better at him at making them, even though he taught me how. I also make burgers. Sometimes I do 1/3 sausage 2/3 hamburger. It's awesome. I do pastas occasionally, too, though. Manicotti rules.

Ah yes, I love making omelettes. My ex-girlfriend taught me how, but I still can't nail them as well as she did. Mind you, we were making them on different sides of the world, so the taste was bound to be a bit different. I just love chucking everything in there, cheese, mushrooms, peppers, bacon, you name it.

I used to cook when I lived at home but I haven't since I went to uni and am getting catered, mainly because of budget and time constraints. I do cook on the weekends, though nothing anyone else would consider very complex.

And for some reason I make better desserts and things then I do meals. Problem is, I can't eat cake...

Put cheese on everything. That's the best advice anyone can give anyone, ever. Cheese on EVERYTHING. Lots of cheese.

I had this salad at a local pub that's really good. They call it the 'California salad', which may not be a real thing, as I've been to other restaurants and they said it's not a real thing, so I don't know. At any rate, it's got whole apple and radish slices and raisins and feta cheese. You top it with vinaigrette, or in my case, blue cheese dressing.

Because you should put cheese on everything.

I don't know what it is, but raisins and feta cheese together make a weird, awesome flavor. Kinda nutty, but not as strong. But eating a lot of that makes the back of your throat all sticky and weird, and if you don't drink something, the aftertaste is like vomit.

Cheesy vomit. And that's not good on ANYTHING.

Hope I've enriched your worlds, folks.

Wow. Seeing all these recipies makes me feel like such a noob. Yeah, I like to make omelette sandwiches for breakfast. However, I still have yet to master the art of folding them to make a half-circle. Then again, seeing as how I put them in sandwiches, it really doesn't matter.

3 eggs
2 tablespoons of water
1 slice of cooked ham
1 slice of cheddar cheese

and 2 english muffins (Whole wheat. White bread sucks) for the bread

It's the best breakfast that I can eat without paying a visit to Denny's. I also have this small pot that I use almost every day to cook oatmeal, canned pasta, corn, or rice.

EDIT: I feel ashamed of myself now that I am reminded of the fact that I don't even know how to cook my own namesake.

Man, I used to make the best pizza. Made the base myself. It think it was something like this:

1 kg plain flour
500 ml water
1/2 teaspoon of salt
2 sachets of yeast
200g semi-sundried tomatoes
Meats/vegetables/other topping of choice (I usually use salami, fresh mushrooms, tomatoes, green capsicum, olives and sautéed onion)
Mozzarella cheese

You put the all the dry ingredients in a volcano shape, pour some water in the middle, combine it and slowly keep going until all the ingredients are mixed used, then I roll it out on the bench for a few minutes. Then put most of the tomatoes in a blender, blend, and spread out on the base as sauce.

Then chop up all your toppings and spread evenly before covering with cheese. Put in the oven until the cheese is very melted and serve.

Notes:
- Might not be such a good idea to try this. It's been so long since I've made it, and I'm working off memory.
- This thing is big. Really big. Serves 8 people with leftovers easy.
- As such, build it on the tray, otherwise it's a bitch to get unstuck from the bench and onto a tray.
- Make the base thin, otherwise you'll be eating lukewarm dough.

A nice big mince meat barbecue steak with salt and garlic butter. Though of course for a proper BBQ steak you have to, wait for it, USE A BARBECUE!

Frying chicken breasts is for chumps. What you do is get one of those little broiler plates - there's a collecting plate on the bottom and you put a little grill-type thing above it; it's smaller than a 8.5x11 sheet of paper - and rub half a clove of garlic all over you chicken breast, adding the seasoning of your choice (for me that is table pepper because I am poor as shit). Put it on the plate, broil it in the oven for 8-10 minutes, and flip it over and broil it until both sides are the same color. Just as juicy, just as delicious, and much healthier.

I'm a cook by trade, but I rarely cook at home for a few reasons:

1) Cooks don't get paid much and "instant" food is quite affordable.
2) I live by myself so in order to make something I'd have a lot of leftover perishable ingredients. Whatever I decide to make is what I have to eat all week.
3) I don't have much of an appetite (But I drink about 4L a day. Mostly chocolate milk.)
4) I left most of my cookware behind when I moved, so I only have a small pot, a pan, and a small baking sheet.
5) I eat dinner at work.

So aside from my days off (usually sandwich/take-out/junk food) I consume only a bowl of Cereal daily.

I make a mean batch of sloppy joe's, and the best Peanut butter + chocolate chip cookies you've never had.

I'm keeping the recipes for myself, closely guarded family secret, you understand.
