Spaghetti alla Carbonnara

1 lb bacon
1 lb spaghetti
1 cup parmesan
2 cups frozen peas or mixed vegetables
2 stick butter
1/2 cup heavy cream
4 eggs
S&P
Red pepper flakes

Slice bacon into small pieces. Cook and drain bacon pieces, retaining 1 T. of bacon grease.
Beat raw eggs in bowl and add parmesan cheese. Set aside.
Cream or melt butter in large bowl. Set aside.
Add the T. of retained bacon grease back to fry pan. Add cream and frozen veggies.
Add pepper flakes. Cook over med heat until veggies are tender. Keep warm
Meanwhile, cook pasta according to directions. Drain.
Add noodles to bowl with butter and stir.
Pour egg and cheese mixture into very hot noodles. Stir thoroughly until eggs are cooked.
Add bacon and veggie mix and S&P.

Serve with extra parmesan cheese.

Easily my favorite recipe from home of all time. NOTE: NOT LOW-FAT

I can cook in a vauge sort of fashion. I can do chicken stir fry (use dry white wine, gives it the best flavor), pastsas tho mostly either spaghetti (or if I feel adventurous lasagna).
My fav is PB&J tho, nd I can never seem to mave it as good as my pappa does. It just tastes better when he makes it.

Duck in a Honey and Spice Marinade?

It's about the only thing I can cook well.

Xitel, you're killing me with that Carbonara recipe. It's my all-time favourite pasta sauce, bar none. I'd leave the veggies personally, but that's just me, I like more of a "pure" carbonara taste.

I did a fantastic dish last night - spaghetti and meatballs, with a tomato and mascarpone sauce. The mascarpone added a new twist on a classic dish, it was really good even if I say so myself. :)

I can make 2 things-

Cheese on toast and Shredded wheat with Jack Daniels.

My cheese on toast is amazing, though.

Oh, and I can make tiffin cake.

When I go out into the world, I'll be fecked, won't I?

I love to cook, and if my boyfriend is any kind of gauge, I'm not too shabby. I'm a sucker for any kind of pasta, and chicken alfredo and pasta carbonara are my two favorites to whip up because it requires almost no effort and it's sooo good.

My boyfriend makes some mean breakfast burritos, though. Never had a breakfast burrito? You need to. Now.

EDIT: Ah, nuts! I saw Xitel's carbonara recipe after I posted so I have to add my own...

We do things mostly similar except there are no veggies in mine and I cook the egg mixture before adding it...

1 package bacon
1 pound fettuccine
Parmesan cheese (I don't know how much to use because I never, ever measure it)
6 egg yolks
1 pint half-and-half
1/2 to 1 teaspoon cinnamon
Salt and pepper, to taste

Slice up bacon into manageable pieces (an inch or so) and fry over medium heat until all golden brown and delicious. Set aside. Set a pot of water to boil and once it's there, toss in a handful of salt and then stir in the fettuccine. Keep it moving for the first minute or so to prevent sticking.

Meanwhile, seperate your eggs and combine the yolks with approx. 1/2 cup to 1 cup of Parmesan cheese (I told you, I never measure, but 1/2 cup sounds right), and the half-and-half, whisking quickly. Pour the egg mixture into a saucepan over medium-low heat and whisk CONSTANTLY to prevent curdling. It's done when it's thick and runs off a spoon.

Once the pasta is done (8-10 minutes or however long your instructions say), drain, return to the cooking pot, add the drained bacon, and the now thickened sauce. Stir together, and add more cheese if you so desire. Then, enjoy.

I promise you, this is one of those meals you sit in on a cold night and feel better about the world after eating.

I very much enjoy cooking. Don't get to do it often but it's something I'm fairly good at.

I think my favorite dish recently is fried trout. You by some trout, doesn't really matter the kind, and remove the skin before frying it (hence the 'fried trout').

When I make it though, I sautee onions and a little bit of garlic with oil and a minute dash of white wine. I also make a dill cream sauce with whatever herbs I have at the time (and dill, hence the 'dill cream sauce')

Take a plate, pour a little sauce on it, put some sauteed onions on top, plop the fried trout down. Add a little pepper and you're good to go. Could be one of my favorite fish dishes.

Gotta get into the Mi Goreng, don't know if they sell it at places other than Melbourne but its cheap and delicious(10 bucks AU for 40 packets cheap) Think two minute noodles but with awesome stuff instead of flavor powder. They are also incredibly unhealthy. I can cook legitimate dishes i.e spaghetti, lemon chicken , pasta bake etc etc but mi goreng tops off the delicious and the cheap(I'm a uni student, can you tell?)
My dad makes a pretty mean carbonara too, cant be bothered finding the recipe but its reasonably similar to the other two ones already posted.
Soooo delicious, its my default birthday dinner(whenever its my birthday i get to pick what we eat)

Oh i almost forgot, Nachos! easy and awesome:
1 bag chips, 1 jar salsa, sour cream and a shitload of cheese
Just have to make it in layers, a thin layer of chips, salsa and cheese repeat until everythings gone.
Oven bake or microwave till cheese is melted and add the sour cream/ guacamole or whatever you want. I generally microwave it, it tastes the same but it's quicker

Fried chicken Fajitas:

Cut up some chicken and coat it in egg, roll it in some breadcrumbs or flour and fry it, when it's cooked get some Tortillas, lettuce and barbeque sauce, arrange in the tortilla and essen.

Delish.

For the barbeque sauce:
Barbeque sauce from a bottle (no I don't know how to make it)
Chopped fine and lightly fried garlic
Honey
Put it all in a pot and put it on a low heat.

It is awesome, I've never made it myself though.

I also love Caldo Gelleco (Sp?), Chorizo, pork on the bone, spinach, chickpeas, onion and garlic, I don't know how you're supposed to cook it exactly, I'm going to ask mein mutter how to make it. ^_^

Nachos. A delicious cycle. "I have extra chips... I should get cheese and make nachos." "I have extra cheese, I should get chips and make nachos."

I'm a mean master chef of Mexican cuisine, and now, thanks to you, I want nachos and tacos. THANKS. Also, where the heck do you even find Mi Goreng? I've never heard of it.

I make a hell of a chocolate cake, I hate those bastards that make the topping liquid-ish, light brown. The topping should be hard, sweet as sin and black as the deepest pits of hell. Yumm, chocolate

I'm more proud of my invention than is healthy. I can't be bothered writing up the recipe but if I were to give it a name, it would be "Awesomely Tasty Honey Chicken Wraps Made From Eden"

I really enjoy cooking, but I'm still in my early teenage years, so there's not much I've done. One of my favorite dishes is Broccoli Casserole - Cream of Mushroom Soup, Broccoli, and those little onion crisps (usually for salads), or onion rings on top.

I also make a really really good Tuna (salad I think)- I usually use 2 cans of tuna, 2-2 1/2 spoons of mayonnaise (I don't use that much because I hate mayo but for some odd reason I love this dish), mix it up so the tuna is all shredded and mixed well with the mayo. Then I add some salt, pepper, onion or garlic powder (sometimes both) and paprika. I usually lightly toast up some wheat bread to make a sandwich, but it's also good on bagels and pasta.

I like to think of myself as a culinary minimalist. I classify food with the other necessities like breathing and sleeping, in that because they are necessities they shouldn't require effort. Food that needs me to do much more than heat it up is generally not worth it.

In all likelihood, this is just an excuse for being too lazy to cook properly.

Haha, I guessed that when I saw 1 lb. of bacon.

I also love me some Buffalo Style Chicken Pizza. Start off with some thin crust pizza dough, add Mozzarella and Bleu cheeses accordingly (I mostly use Mozzarella since I'm not a big fan of the Bleu), add hot sauce to taste, small red onion cut like rings, and finally the chicken. My most favorite pizza ever, bar none. I'm actually eating some right now!

I enjoy cooking. I am a big fan of my crock pot. Throw a bunch of stuff in for a few hours and it comes out full of flavor and falling off the bone. I am drawing a blank on any of my favorite recipes. I tend to experiment rather then follow recipes. Sometimes this turns out good and sometimes not so good, oh well.

I like to cook as much as I can, which is pretty much evening :)

I'm starting to find that rice/risotto and vegetables is a cheap and easy way to get a good meal. Mixed with the right spices it can be a extremely tasty.

i love cooking, never use recipes, never write them down. makes it funner, and more of a challenge, keeps me more focused, and helps me not accidentally set things on fire. and its NEVER anything normal.

penne and corn sandwich with alfredo sauce and parmesan on rye bread. if you dont pull it off PERFECTLY it is exactly what it sounds like, if you do, its pure concentrated happy.

I'm a pretty damn good cook, but I prefer looking in the cupboard to see what I have, then assembling something out of that, rather than following a recipe.

Put cheese on everything. That's the best advice anyone can give anyone, ever. Cheese on EVERYTHING. Lots of cheese.

UGh, cheese is nasty. I can only tolerate it on pizza more or less otherwise it has me feeling ill (nothing like milk mind you.)

I can cook although considering I am at home, I have never had a need to. Mom may not admit however she likes doing all the cooking herself because even if when I have pestered her, she still tries to do everything. Works for me.

Mmmm... you're welcome at my house anytime!

On a somewhat similar note, anyone have a good recipe for chili? We made it the other night but it seemed to lack something, I don't have the recipe to hand I'm afraid. I wouldn't be looking for super hot, blow your head off style chili, just something that's really flavourful.

My boyfriend has an excellent recipe that could feed an army but I'm not sure what's all in it... I know it has ground beef, onions, and red pepper flakes, but after that... I'm pretty sure, though, it has crushed red tomatoes and ranch style beans, if I remember properly. I'll find out what it was when I see him- he made it for a chile contest, though, and it was devoured.
