Loads.

Oasis - Dig Out Your Soul. Rock. Oasis are back and better than ever.
Coldplay - Viva La Vida or Death and All His Friends. Indie.
Killers - Day & Age. Rock
Vampire Weekend - Vampire Weekend. Indie. Criminally underated.
The Black Keys - Attack & Release. Rock/Blues.
Pendulum - In Silico. Dance/Rock
Snow Patrol - A Hundred Million Suns. Indie.
Metallica - Death Magnetic. Metal.
Kings of Leon - Only By The Night. Rock.

That should do it.

There has been a lot of good albums this year, but my favourite is by far Opeth - Watershed.

Shogun by Trivium. I think it's the best album of the year (Death Magnetic sucked).

Love at the End of the World - Sam Roberts

Great CD. Saw him live in september, and it was the best concert I've ever seen.

I didn't really care for this album. I guess they're trying to find their groove with the lineup change. It lacked a cohesion in the songs. Most of the songs when they transitioned to their different parts, essentially stopped, and then started. Kinda felt like someone constantly slamming on the brakes in a car as it lurches. Not one of Opeth's best albums IMO, but they are still fantastic.

My favorites have to be:
13 Blues for Thirteen Moons by A Silver Mt. Zion
(post rock/avant-garde)
Embodiment - Sculptured
(Progressive Death Metal/Avant-garde)
The White - Agalloch
(Folk/instrumental)

The Sound of Madness-by Shinedown was just awesome to me. I love just about every song on that album.
Death Magnetic- Metallica and Rise and Fall, Rage and Grace- The Offspring were great as well.

Dear me... It took a little too long for someone to mention that. This year hasnt been too bad on the JJJ side of things (thats a radio station =D) but none of that matters when Opeth enter the picture.

Ahh what a wonderful sight. A congregation of Opeth fans in agreement that Watershed fucking rules. :)

I've not been very purchase happy when it comes to music this year. Most of the albums I've bought have been older releases. But there are two released in '08 that stand out to me:

Nine Inch Nails
The Slip
Industrial Rock

and

Rise Against
Appeal to Reason
(Melod Hardcore according to Wikipedia, I'll roll with it)

2008 was fucking awesome for metal. Hard to decide on a favourite...
But it's probably Unleashed - Hammer Battalion. (Death Metal)
Or Kataklysm - Prevail. (Death Metal (from Canada!))
OR Amon Amarth - Twilight of the Thunder God. (Melodic Death Metal)
Nope, can't pick just one. I could probably name a gazillion more...

Dig Out Your Soul - Oasis

That's all for this year.
I was looking forward to the new Axl Rose album (It's not Guns 'n Roses anymore!!)
but then I listened to it.
