Yes yes Obama won congrats, you deserve a snickers if you supported him. For those of us who didnt, well there is always 2012.

Whats pissing me off right now are all these people outside of the United States congratulating America like it was a good dog and throwing us a treat. While its nice to be reminded that unlike other countries elections, ours actually attract the attention of the entire world, it just gets under my skin when people from one country talk about politics in another country like they actually have some clue about what is best for that country.

We DO know better. Sorry, but you voted in Bush... TWICE! The world had their eyes on this election to see if you'd just vote in a Bush clone or not. Now we congradulate America because we know that you finally did something right. Plus, what else are we going to be watching? Paint dry?

Anti-gun president? As far as I know he's not anti-gun, just for some gun control That's a good thing, assault weapons have no place in the hands of private citizens, PERIOD

So true, i checked his website and he is all about letting LAW ABIDING CITIZENS to own guns. On his website he also posted that he not only supports hunting be reconizes it as a very valuable asset to the economy. Also serously you dont need an AK or M16 for personal use, i mean you cant use it for self defense (you shoot someone chances are your gonna hit someone in the house next to you and kill them too) and they are useless for hunting, So Retoru i am drinking to your post *chugs whats left of my Sparks*

The biggest fault in your argument is that common citizens can't own AK47's or M16's or any assault rifle for that matter legally right now as all assault rifles are fully automatic and owning a fully automatic rifle is highly illegal. It results in immediate license revoking with no chance to get it back, a long prison sentence, and/or a huge fine.

Oh i know that, i was implying about the idiots who think we should be able to own AK's and M16's and what not. but hey like i said, i was a wee bit drunk last night :(

As a fellow American, I can say I find the opinion of other countries to be pretty important. Considering that our foreign policies have left bad tastes in a lot of their mouths. You just sound bitter, that's all. Particularly with your opening sentence.

I have to say, speaking as a non-American, none of us are really surprised about Obama getting in.

Following Bush II ("This Time, It's Nonsensical!"), the Republicans had an image problem in the same way that blimps and dirrigibles got an image problem after the Hindenburg.

The Republicans put up a good fight, I'll give them that, but with the Bush-Republican mental link, people aren't going to vote for them again so readily.

Wow this is kind of unexpected. I start this thread and find another I figured this would be locked. However, I have a question to Canadians, you see today at school I decided to rub Obama's victory in a few of my friend's faces. Two of them said something I didn't expect, they said that because Obama won they wished they could move to Canada. This dumbfounded me, Canada is more liberal that America, why would McCain supporters go there? However should some massive exodus of McCain supporters move to Canada, what would you native Canadians do?

New rule: those who voted for Bush in the last two elections should stop talking about things like what's best for our country. I go into fits of laughter that are very hard to stop.

New rule: Those who think that we should ridicule people with opposing political beliefs should stop talking about whats best for the country. I go into fits of conserva-rage that are very hard to stop.

Give us a couple years. Next chance we get, I'll bet the House and Senate are gonna get switched back over to the Republicans. America wont stand for four years of one party rule, especially the Dems.

On a less optimistic side, I must confess that I don't expect anything out of Obama. The cult of personality around him has built up to near Hitler-levels and there's gonna be a whole bunch of disappointed Americans once we realize that he's not the Patron Saint of Progress. It's going to be business as usual for the next few years, but hey, this gives me a whole new canvas on which to paint a string of racist jokes so I'm happy.

You have easy access to drunk bitches and you're in your dorm room on the internet? Get your ass out into that hallway, pick off the weakest member of the drunk bitch herd, and get your carrot waxed.

Retoru, I...I take back all the nasty things I've ever said about you. Sagely wisdom is pretty damn sagely.

Actually a private citizen can own a fully automatic weapon but there is tons of paperwork involved, all of them cost about as much as a car and are made before 1986, and the license to own them comes with a nice FBI listening van parked across from your house. As far as gun control in America goes or in general is that it's focused on prohibiting legal sales. A criminal is not going to go to a gun store. Fill out the paper work, wait till the national 'instant' background check comes back then spend $600 on a used pistol. then go on a killing spree. most criminals get their guns from a guy in an unlit parking lot in the middle of the night.

It's not that the beliefs are opposing. See, as people we have the right to decide which beliefs are worth debating with and which are laugh out loud ridiculous. And as long as we keep that out of the government everything is fine.

Assuming they went through regular immigration channels, we'd probably take them in; especially if they've got certification in a key skilled trade or profession. (Or if they're so wealthy they'll support themselves; we took in a ton of Hong Kong emigrees I think largely based on the strength of their portfolios and resulting increase in tax base.)

If any of them claimed refugee status, I suspect the applications would be refused after the usual time and the lying schmuks booted back across the border. Not immediately, because the bureaucrats need their laughs too... I suspect more than a few such applications would be pinned up on noticeboards for a while.

I'm happy to say I voted for the first black president.
I can't help but be a bit surprised though. Having traveled across this country more than a few times, I've become quite familiar with (then appaled by) the racist nature of certain communities: not surprised to see he didn't take Texas and Alabama. I though that alone would be enough for him to lose but I'm glad it wasn't.

To tell you the truth, I really didn't care who won, I was just happy that there was no chance of Bush scamming his way into office again.

We are finally free of the delusional Chimp of Chaos and his evil master.
It is a time of celebration no matter what party you prefer or even if you (like me) don't prescribe to a single party in particular.

oddly enough, in the 2010 election Illinois might get a lot more republicans in the state congress and senate because our governor is kind of a idiot, you know all those people who Obama was loosely tied to like Tony Rezco and the like(not Bill Ayres, hope I'm spelling that right), yes well our governor has a much more solid connection with them.

I'm not a political scientist, but their seem to be a few main reactions:

1. MOTHER ****ING TERORIST COMMIE FAGGOT IS IN CHARGE OF MAH MUNY'Z! WE'RE ALL GONNA DIE!!!
2.I was a McCain supporter, but we have to support the president regardless.
3.Horray civil liberty! (No joke here, I'm legitimately happy we've finally gotten over our selves here in the US)
4. OBAMA!!!! YAY!!!!
5. I support Obama, and I can't wait until he's elected.

Sorry, I guess I worded the question wrong. I meant how would you react to an influx of rednecks who would call french Canadians cowards at any chance they get, and by the way I'm relatively sure that if every republican left the US they would outnumber Canadians, but don't quote me on that.

I think your typical Rush Dittohead would have a stroke up here with our tax structure, secular government, and social safety net... and that we aren't all subjugated drones of our Jackbooted Socialist Gummint, managing to live free and reasonably comfortable lives anyway. So I don't worry too much about thickies stampeding across the border; a combination of their chicken-fried steak diet and our legalising gay marriage would take care of them pretty quickly.

Exactly. Not all opinions are created equal. My friend's grandmother for instance is of the opinion that we should just bomb the middle east and wipe it off the map because they're all just terrorists anyway. I think we can all agree that she's a dolt, right? ...right?

America's reaction to this is hilarious. YAY, A BLACK GUY IS PRESIDENT. A BLACK GUY. WHO HOO. WE TOTALLY DON'T DISCRIMINATE BY RACE OR ANYTHING.

Also, as part of my homework tonight I need to write him a letter.

Really and here I thought they were called homosexuals, I had no idea that the people were called homosexuality. Oh thank you ever so much for setting me straight.

Clearly this person is
1. a troll.
2. someone of severe mental deficiency.
3. trying to be funny.
4. someone who doesn't understand the words they use.
Take you pick it doesn't really matter.

My question for you is this: why is there no "5. all of the above"?

Aslong as he sorts out all the problems and turns america around from the bottom of the populairty pounds.

Meh.

EDIT: Yeah, I should probably say something other than "meh." Well after I found this out last night I could only dread as to what I was going to see at my school the next day. I go only to find out that there are at least 25+ people wearing stupid "Obama is my homeboy" t-shirts.
