Welcome back to the 21st Century America, you have stopped your backslide into the mindless barbarism of the past. Congrats.

Ehhh don't get crazy.

Mccain still showed strongly despite a near-perfect sequence of events that seemed custom designed to favor Obama.

There's still a hardcore heart of Americans who would normally have gone the other way.

According to the polls, its less than a quarter. That's better numbers than the last time the American populous was majorly divided.

And its shockingly well practiced.

I breathe a sigh of relief.

I'm sure this will be one of the ten treads to pop up about this but seeing as they haven't yet, at least not no my knowledge, i feel the need to tell you all. I'm kind of wondering the reaction from all of you. if you are a McCain supporter please don't rant, accept defeat gracefully like I'm sure McCain will.

Just like Gore did? Or Kerry?

But both the '00 and '04 elections came down to one state, and Gore may or may not have gotten screwed over in '00. McCain, with all due respect to the guy, just got his ass kicked.

Ugh, disappointing. Obama winning makes me question America. *sigh*

Yep lets vote for the guy with zero experience while we are on the edge of recession! Yeah!

Indeed.

Oh yes, let's vote for the warmonger who will ruin us in the eyes of the international community and then keel over leaving the country to that scary bitch Palin

Woah, such anger and hatred! Odd to have a Obama supporter with such rage.

Woo, elections over, yay!

Now where the hell is Obama and Congress going to get the US$1.4 Trillion to pay for the Wall Street bail out bill?

Odd to find people who would actually think it would be a good to support the man who professed that the U.S. would stay in Iraq for between, depending on the interview, 1000 or 1,000,000 years.

Aslong as U.S has russia no one will be able to fuck with them without their whole country being taken, Raped, Given back and such.

I will point out that California, the state that pushed Obama over 270, HAS YET TO ACTUALLY VOTE. It is a projected victory. I'm not saying I don't want him to win, I'm not saying I do, I'm just saying this victory is based solely on polls at present.

Actually, he has already won, his count is currently at 333 votes, 60 more than he needs

*actually* if you go online and READ THE FINE PRINT instead of just looking at the status bar, you'll see just how many precincts are reporting. There is a generalized tendency to report based on even just 25% of votes counted--which may or may not be valid. It probably is, which is why they do it, but it's considered polite not to jump the gun.

You're right! It's not like McCain could only serve four to eight years or such and allow other presidents after him to get out or anything. He invented immortality and will be our president for the next 1,000 - 1,000,000 years.

All hail the magic Redskins game!

ThePoodonkis from another thread:
Hmmm...
Not sure if you guys have heard of this, but:
The Washington Redskins play a football game the day before every election Tuesday, and something weird happens.

If Redskins win, the incumbent party keeps the white house.
If they lose, the other party obtains the presidency.

They lost last night, and Obama won. Making the times this phenomena has happened 18 out of 18.

Off-Topic EDIT: I got a system message for quoting myself. neat!

We (The US) have over 29,000 military personnel still stationed in Korea 55 years later, despite the war having been a United Nations-led effort. Saying that American forces will still be in Iraq years from now is probably not far from the truth.

On my ballot it was drawing a line connecting the arrow head to the arrow tail next to the choice you wanted.

Maybe that's what's wrong with America. Axe art in schools, suck at filling out election ballots.

I bloody well hope so. I didn't care much for McCain's campaign, but she pretty much ruined whatever chance he had to begin with.

Reading through the replies here, it is good to see so many Americans so happy. Well done.

He has oft been quoted as saying that when he met Putin he looked into his eyes and saw that he had a good soul...
I dunno if I'd count that as good relations. Especially when Russia goes and does things like South Ossetia.

...and almost all of his "eyes being kept on the prize" is undone by: (Because its so much better in song form)

One a day,
it will take you three years,
to eat up a thousand pies
but in a year and a half,
we swallowed whole 935 lies

You know a thousand clowns is a truckload,
rubber noses to the sky
but somehow its not quite as scary as
935 lies

Nine hundred and thirty-five falsehoods,
told by our leading guys,
eyes of steel,
tongues of fork,
935 lies,

And I think its mainly your President that the international community don't like.

I really doubt that, she's probably going to set herself up for 2012, like in the SNL skit.
