Sad day for america at least the dems didn't get a supermajority in the house(to my knowlege)
Yay for higher taxes on my company and family. yay for someone who wants to use the power of government to spread the wealth around, yay for anti gun prez, yay for someone who thinks the bill of rights is a bill of negative rights. yay for someone who is pro govn't regulation of the free market, yay for someone who wants to use courts to.... O I give up for the night needless to say I look forward to hearing my business professors lament this tomorrow.

Woah woah hang on? Those are the reasons you didn't vote for him?

I've lived in Singapore and it was less of a culture shock than reading that.
I guess just because we speak the same language doesn't mean that we're anything alike.

So you would be for higher taxes and more regulation and all that jazz if I read your post right?
Then yes we would be quite different :)

Remember, remember the fifth of November. Not sure if he actually won on the Fifth but we should remember that date anyway.

Good for America.

More regulation? You mean more than the PATRIOT act?

And yes, even though you didn't mention it, wealth distribution, hell yes.

Did I already mention the PATRIOT act? I'm sure I just mentioned the PATRIOT act.

Maybe I should run through extreme renditions, water-boarding and the definition of torture while am it?

... nah, you're right. Now isn't the time or the place for a long winded argument.

Each to their own.

I just realized something, now we can't make fun of our president, without resorting to racist jokes. *sigh* I guess we'll just have to settle for a better country.

Welcome to the corner of Epic St. and Win Ave.

I am disappointed my pick for Representative (Republican Lou Barletta) didn't win, but that's overshadowed by Obama winning big. This had been a very good night.

Though we should remember that we still have 3 more months of Bush.

Onion article title summarizes it well: "Nation Finally Shitty Enough To Make Social Progress."

(Oh, but it looks like Prop 8 might've passed. Way to fail, California.)

Well, let's put it this way: after two years of infant genocide, redistribution of wealth, a struggling economy, tax hikes for businesses, sucking up to Europe, China, and Iran, letting Iraq's government (and oil) burn, the persistance of radical Islam, and a general lack of cahones on Capitol Hill, the American people will put Republicans back in the majority in both houses of Congress. Then President Obama's goose will be cooked.

Fox news will now have all the fun that CNN and MSNBC have had for the last eight years.

There are dark days ahead, but Obama and the Democrats will end up paying for all the future misery.

Higher taxes equal better public services and better gun control means that people like you who perhaps might want to murder somebody or let every criminal murder people with guns. Murder rate in the US is way higher than pretty much everywhere that has good gun control. You think trying to lower murder rate is a bad thing?

People who like lower taxes are evidently those who just want it easy for the well of while letting the poor starve to death and not get a decent education etc. They are in general selfish pigs too, not just the people wo get handouts.

Zing!

I'm not ashamed to say that I'm pleased with the results of this election-- due in no small part to the fact that I live in South Carolina and practically everyone I know supported McCain.

Yep lets vote for the guy with zero experience while we are on the edge of recession! Yeah!

Indeed.

Oh yes, let's vote for the warmonger who will ruin us in the eyes of the international community and then keel over leaving the country to that scary bitch Palin

The international community all ready hates us. Atleast bush keeps a good eye on the prize. He has us in a great relationship with Putin.(Please tell me I am right lol.) Aslong as U.S has russia no one will be able to fuck with them without their whole country being taken, Raped, Given back and such.

Are you serious? America was the first one to oppose Russian involvement in Osetian conflict. If majority of Russian population (and the rest of the world) didnt like America for being the world police before that, now they probably f'n hate Bush administration.

Obama gets my voice just for saying "Its time for us (America) to stop policing the world and take care of our own problems instead." Or something along those lines.

infant genocide

Here's a little dramatization of your beliefs:

"Hey, look! It's an infant genocide right here in our own country! Innocent wittle babies are dying right now!"
"Shit! How do we stop it?"
"Why, it's easy. You just have to vote Republican every few years!"
"And... that's it? That's how we're going to stop the baby genocide that is happening right now?"
"Well, I guess we could also talk about it on the Internet."

(Same argument done more eloquently.)

But some of us like to take care of our own lives rather then have a paternalistic government to take care of us from cradle to grave. People who are for lower taxes are generally for keeping more of what they make, and realize that wealth trickles down(generally)
And here in america no poor starve to death(there is Foodstamps WIC government housing, education is free, healthcare is almost free for many(medicare, tenncare, etc) I mean my god how much more can you ask for. In this country you are given every opportunity to make something of yourself. Why do we need even more government services (and higher taxes on me) just because people are to stupid or lazy to fend for themselves.

Because some of those services include schools. Which I don't know about you, but last year, in my county alone we had three close. Due to lack of funds.

I believe in small government in terms of making it easy for people to thrive, but big government regulation wise in terms of industry. Problem is, it's on the books that corporations can be considered "people". Something that needs to change since it's the ultimate loop hole. I am in favor of small government, once the population shows adequate ability to govern itself.

Dang that sucks but we already spend according to the U.S. Department of Education, public schools spent $8,830 per child nationwide. IDk what you think but that's an ungodly amount of money to me. The local private school here in Knoxville tn Cost around 5k a year. So I don't think we need to increase taxes for education, just something needs reformed. When all my college classrooms have 30 computers in them we don't use, there can be cuts i'd say
