My problem with Obama is that he's a dreamer, kind of like JFK. He has all these wonderful ideas in his pretty little head, but he's going to be president. They don't usually deliver on their promises.

I'd rather have idealist as president than an "ah well, fuck it" president.
Seekster: Oh I do hope they pass the ban on gay-marriage in California, hopefully that will remind the courts that it is not their job to make legislation, course this is California we are talking about so I wont hold my breath.
Joeshie, Obama is a politician and therefore, like all politicians, cannot be considered to be truly intelligent.
I would have to agree with you somewhat although I do not see anything wrong homosexuals , But I feel our checks and balances have somewhat become twisted.
I dont have any problems with homosexuals just homosexuality. I also have no problem with homosexuals getting married, I mean if a gay guy wants to marry a lesbian I am perfectly ok with that. I just have a problem with two guys want to pretend that they are married when it is physically impossible for them to consecrate that union. Its called Biology.
Joeshie: Guys, think about it. With the Obama win, America will finally have an intelligent leader at it's helm.
Well, we had one before January 20, 2001.
Yeah, people forget the last two Democrat Presidents--Clinton and Carter--have been a Rhodes Scholarship winner and a naval officer under instruction to become an engineering officer for the nuclear power plant of the USS Seawolf.

Obama is more like Jimmy Carter than JFK, ah well hopefully it will keep him out of Dallas where I live.

Also,
I'd rather have a president with a plan of action. Not a plan of what he wants. But then again, we weren't exactly given that option this time around.....*Sigh* I miss Clinton.
Anti-gun president? As far as I know he's not anti-gun, just for some gun control That's a good thing, assault weapons have no place in the hands of private citizens, PERIOD
So true, i checked his website and he is all about letting LAW ABIDING CITIZENS to own guns. On his website he also posted that he not only supports hunting be reconizes it as a very valuable asset to the economy. Also serously you dont need an AK or M16 for personal use, i mean you cant use it for self defense (you shoot someone chances are your gonna hit someone in the house next to you and kill them too) and they are useless for hunting, So Retoru i am drinking to your post *chugs whats left of my Sparks*
The biggest fault in your argument is that common citizens can't own AK47's or M16's or any assault rifle for that matter legally right now as all assault rifles are fully automatic and owning a fully automatic rifle is highly illegal. It results in immediate license revoking with no chance to get it back, a long prison sentence, and/or a huge fine.
First, just so you don't look like a pinhead...there's no such thing as "highly illegal", something is legal or it isn't. If something is not legal, it's illegal, there aren't varying degrees of illegality.
Next, assault weapons are current quite legal in this country. There was an assault weapons ban that was put in place by Clinton, when it came time to renew it Bush chose not to renew it despite the Senate and House both urging him to renew it. AK-47s and M-16s can be set into semi-auto and fully-auto modes, those that are legal have the fully-auto mode disabled. Not that it matters much, you can easily modify a semi-auto weapon into a fully-auto weapon by removing a few pins inside the firing chamber.
Well I didn't know you were such a stickler for expressions Mr. bug-up-your-ass. Technically you are correct about that, but you could also consider it in the terms of misdemeanor vs. felony which are vastly different from each other and performing a felony offense could be construed as "highly illegal". But this is beside the point, as it takes more than a few pins to make a semi-auto into a dangerous full-auto. It would work for all of a few shots before misfiring because the whole slide assembly in legal semi-auto rifles is not designed for auto-fire use. It can't operate at those speeds. You would need to buy an automatic slide assembly for it to be a useful automatic rifle. But those are felony illegal too.

Why would gays of the opposite sex get married? That makes no sense. And if they can't have kids then they can't get married? So yeah, fuck everyone that's infertile.
I see intolerance of homosexuality on par with being intolerant of another race or religion, it really just disgusts me.

Homosexuality is not a race and oh God I hope it never becomes a religion. Also you seemed to miss the joke. A gay guy is still a guy so I have no problem if he marries a lesbian who is still a woman. Now that I have had to explain it, its no longer funny so thanks alot. Yes I am bitter, still clinging to my guns and my religion ^_^.
How about the English teacher who realizes s/he failed to instill the difference between *consummation* and *consecration*
"I just have a problem with two guys want to pretend that they are married when it is physically impossible for them to consecrate that union. Its called Biology."
I mean, I know we Catholics think the Bread and Wine are transubstantiated in defiance of the laws of biology when consecrated into Body and Blood, but, this is even too wacky for me to ponder!
Seekster: Homosexuality is not a race and oh God I hope it never becomes a religion
I was saying that prejudice of any group of people is wrong. Being intolerant of homosexuality shouldn't get a free ride, yet somehow it does.
Please read your comment, homosexuality is an act, not a group of people. I am tolerant of homosexuals, its their choice after all, I just do not approve of homosexuality and do not believe that it should be sanctioned.

Um Yeah they are a group of people, not some act, please get your facts straight and try again another time.

Really and here I thought they were called homosexuals, I had no idea that the people were called homosexuality. Oh thank you ever so much for setting me straight.

You're twisting your words in a way that doesn't make sense. It's like saying "I'm tolerant of blacks, but I don't approve of the race and therefore don't believe they should be allowed to _______."
I'M twisting MY words? First of all I want to make sure you understand that Homosexuals are not a race, religion, or ethnic group.
On another note a person's race, religion, or ethnic group does not tell me much about that person. Human beings are individuals not groups.
Let me try to phrase it this way, I dont approve of smoking but I tolerate smokers. I do not believe smoking should be sanctioned. Its a similar concept with homosexuality. I do not approve of homosexuality but I tolerate homosexuals. I just dont think that the act of homosexuality should be encouraged.

Clearly this person is 1. a troll. 2. someone of severe mental deficiency. 3. trying to be funny. 4. someone who doesn't understand the words they use. Take you pick it doesn't really matter.
Alex_P: California is pretty disappointing at the moment: with 29% of precints reporting, propositions 2, 8, and 9 are all passing at the moment. Together those indicate that Californians would rather enact feel-good measures (crazy feel-good measures that will do a lot of economic and social damage to California) than actual progressive social policy.
I've also heard, tentatively, that Bachmann got reelected. Again, not a good show for the US.

I've been reading up on Prop 8 *Is Australian* and it seems like it's a pretty insensitive thing to do. I'm actually offended that this has been supported and gone through your parliament. Please vote no!
Nah Im just pissed off tired and bored, im going to bed.
Also calling someone a bigot is a cop out. Ah well nothing will change, just one politician for another, its just this one so happens to be black which somehow makes him special and hyped up. Ive never understood why people put so much importance on race.

Other than it being a historical day that will be remembered forever in American history I suspect most of us do not care about Obama's race. He is eloquent, intelligent, wise, creative, inspiring, and very official in nature. He would make a great President if he were white, black, or green.
Also it seems like you are pretty right wing by your apparent attitude. I doubt you would be so dismissing of this victory if it were McCain that had won.

Actually yeah I would, I never liked McCain, he was just the slightly lesser of two evils from my point of view. We have had to pick the lesser of two evils for the past several elections and I really wish we could have an election between two people who wont do their very best to damage the country as much as they can but then again im not much of an idealist.
Also every Presidential election can be considered historical since every Presidential election is recorded...or are you saying this one is historical because Obama just so happens to be black (big deal).

You clearly don't know anything about green people, the scum of the earth. ;D
My problem with Obama is that he's a dreamer, kind of like JFK. He has all these wonderful ideas in his pretty little head, but he's going to be president. They don't usually deliver on their promises.
