lil wayne is dead... but if you were into metal and stuff i would reccomend Death Magnetic, its an amazing album.
Death Magnetic was far from "amazing", IT WAS ONE OF THE BEST ALBUMS OF ALL TIME!!! My top 3 are: Oh, and let me re-direct you to a little thread you may want to read.
asheru, mf doom, talib kwali. but that's for if you want new hip-hop
The very first gravediggers album the one with "Bang your head" on it is amazing. The name escapes me but it drips with the sort of lyrical black humour redolent of the first Eminem album. Any Public enemy at all, Grandmaster Flash, The Sugar Hill gang, parliament and funkadelic the roots of many of the samples from modern hip hop. I may be teaching grandmother to suck eggs but you wanted suggestions!
Most people here don't really know anything about great hip hop (or music for that matter) so I'll try and help: CunninLynguists
If you're looking for good hip-hop I'll point you toward some lesser known (Underground) stuff that's pretty damn good: Jedi Mind Tricks For anything else, try Pandora. You put in the name of an artist or song you like, and it creates a custom radio station for you with similar music. Best of all, it's free.
R'n'B you say? Well, you can't go wrong with the classics; a little BB King, some Eric Clapton and maybe a bit of Otis Redding should satiate your appetite.
Iron Maiden. | |
Beat me to it on those 3, all absolutely brililant, so I'll just add a few of my own choices Snowgoons
People like you don't exist on the escapist :O
Celldweller. | |
Run DMC is just awesome. Plus, give Red Hot Chili Peppers (The old RHCP) a listen. Those rapped vocals just go so well to the funky bass and sweet guitar.
When you say "people like me" is that a good thing?
Avenged Sevenfold :l | |
Am I the only one that thinks Lil Wayne sounds like a talking platypus?
How would you know what a talking platypus sounds like?
No you're not! Frankly I'd never trust/listen to the music of someone who managed to shoot themself in the chest by accident anyway.
As much as I scream "up the irons" at every opportunity a lot of R&B or Rappers probably aren't going to be into real music like this. Grab some soundtracks for appropriate movies (a couple that jump to mind are Blade (any one of the three) and Exit Wounds). Find a couple tracks you like and go from there. Despite being a fairly heavy metal head I occasionally chill out to some King Kapisi - a Samoan HipHop artist. Pretty good music, albeit a little obscure and sometimes hard to find in record stores. Cheers
Wikipedia. | |
Well to me yes I never thought I would see some one else who like dub set and grime on these boards.
Ah, silly me. I forgot, Wikipedia told me what a talking elephant sounds like.
Here is something other than RnB/rap for you to poke your ears at. Portishead
Also, give Rage Against The Machine a try. Rapped vocals + Rock/Metal aspects = Win.
Seriously? I thought it was common courtesy to read the OP.
Give this a try. Between the shit is some real treasures to find. And do try to search on "ParagonX9" while you're there.
I posted the closest things that are rap to me.
Phew, I thought it might've been going the "GTFO off my board you filthy charv" way, disaster averted! I must say I've never talked to another gamer with an interest in grime or dubstep either. Have you got the new Virus Syndicate album, its much better than the first one which is saying a lot.
The Kinks. You can't go wrong with the classics. Or Air. Air is amazing. New Order. Listen to New Order. And for more rap-y, look up The Mad Conductor. I have an amazing last.fm page. Check my Profile page. Oh and HEARTSREVOLUTION. In summation: The Kinks
Damn aint to good with rap or RnB I'm mostly into metal and rock.
Meshuggah check them all out and give them a bit of time, it's all a bit left of centre. Try listening without preconceived notions
dammit, and how could i forget
defiantly also | |
thanks guys 4 all the seggestions btw i rly like celldweller
How about Screamo-Hip Hop :P
