Hello there various and assorted Deathnote enthusiasts. You might have guessed that this is a thread devoted to discussing deathnote. Whats your favorite charcter? favorite episode? how do you rate the plot line? do you think there will be more Deathnote? post it all here! What do you think? Let me/us (us referring to the escapist forum users) know!
UPDATE: So from what i gather, we all think that the Deathnote anime is pretty exceptional. New question: What about the movies? What do YOU think of the deathnote movies? Let me know! UPDATE2: While i guess talking about the movies was not very exciting - the thread seems to have started to focus on L and LIGHT, and their sleep patterns and such, so lets discuss that! Post away...
The caps are a bit of a put off. Might want to edit them?
I liked the first eight episodes of Death Note and then it got strange. I also hate that heavy metal intro song. It makes no sense and has nothing to do with the show. It seem like a way to appeal to the angsty teenager demographic that Death Note must pull in.

I like it. I think perhaps it co-insides with the thickining of the plot, as such...
I liked Death Note for about 7 volumes of the manga. After that, I felt like the story had been resolved to my satisfaction. But they just kept going, and going, and going... Smallville syndrome.
Monster is a much better alternative. Or Perry Mason, if you hate anime.

I like the part where internet people are being told to leave. It makes a little portion of my soul laugh with glee while the rest of me kind of cringes inside as that first bit starts eating the rest again. Nothing quite like that feeling ^_^
I loved deathnote, it's a rare breath of fresh air in the stale anime industry. I do believe it went downhill a little bit in the second act, the new characters just weren't very appealing. Near and Mellow stood out as particularly shitty.

So true... Though I'm mostly thinking of that last comment. It appears most people got sick of Death Note when the "cast rotation" started up. I liked the way the first, um, "arc" went, but the second one became offensively stupid before descending into a tiresomely predictable conclusion.
Death Note had a lot of potential, but it just didn't do enough with it. Blade of the Immortal, Monster, RahXephon, Ghost in the Shell: SAC (either season, I've seen almost all of the 2nd season, and I still prefer the first one) and even Hunter X Hunter all do a better job with presenting an intelligent storyline in a compelling fashion, as they don't equate "intelligent" with "having a lot of words."
Seriously, Death Note's as bad as any random average Webcomic in that way.

I personally liked deathnote up until the part where Light's father dies - things deteriorate from there, and when L dies, and then they bring in Near and Mello, it all gets kinda shit. It is still a good story right up till the last episode where Light dies, but it really tugs at ya heartstrings i think
The 'alternate' ending where the series finishes when L dies was better imho. Light becomes the God he wants to be until Ryuk offs him for kicks and giggles. No Near, no Mello. Only downside was that you didn't get the awesome scene at the end of the real ending with whats-his-face shooting Light.
It's the second anime series I watched, and the first one I really enjoyed. It deteriorated when Light gave up the Death Note then got a bit worse post-L, but it did remain at least good throughout. Except for the second intro, but meh.
I would have liked it if they had kept a bit more focus on the consequences of Light's aspirations rather than the drama between L and Light, but it still works well.
My favorite episode was probably either the last one or Light killing off Ray Penbar's fiance.
I'll agree that the second intro is a bit of a departure from the idea of the series but that is quickly dealt with by the opening saying "Hey, hey ningen [human] sucker...ah ningen, ningen FUCKER". It's nice to hear some good old-fashioned profanity on the TV.
And for anyone who doesn't know (but cares) the openings are OP1: The World by Nightmare (an awesome band) OP2: What's Up, People? by Maximum The Hormone (an equally awesome band)
And on topic, Death Note (with a break between words) is an excellent show despite its failings in the second half (Near) although Mello is pretty cool.
