I recently received a pair of Grado SR-60 headphones, and they have pretty much changed the way I listen to music.

They are so good, some albums sound completely different now. A far cry from the Apple iBuds, for sure. I can actually tell where instruments are coming from, and it's like I finally understand the magic of stereo. They're awesome with games and movies as well.

I guess this thread is just for anyone who uses headphones - here we can discuss them at great length.

Oh, and please don't take this as an advertisement for Grado or anything. This is more about headphones in general.

I love headphones!

I just got skullcandy ones. It's all good. I'm never wearing buds again if I can help it.

There are definitely some bands that demand headphones - Pink Floyd and Radiohead just don't work as well with speakers.

I'm using some Philips headphones now and music generally sounds better when played through headphones. It sounds way louder and closer than usual.

Generaly I'd rather listen to music through decent speakers, but I'll still listen through headphones when I have to, for christmas I want a nice pair of sennheisers because I had to get rid of my 80 watt subwoofer.

Ipod headphones are the worst things ever, I can't understand people who use them when you can easily get decent headphones for less than £20.

I can't wear headphones when listening to music, because I always start singing along and don't realize it until someone taps me on the shoulder and says I'm disturbing them.

My Zune earbuds are nice, they even have a limited surround sound effect and render bass tones far better than iPod headphones.

I liked my earbuds, but found I had to turn them up too much while I was out and about. I find headphones give a better quality of sound than speakers, and is less likely to damage my hearing than the buds, as I don't have to turn them up as high.

I used to like my cheap Sony earbuds, but after upgrading to "proper" headphones, the earbuds sound 2D compared to the headphones' 3D effect.

I love sound staging.

I love over-ear headphones.
The ones that go in your ears always fall out of mine.
Possibly due to the fact that my ears are rather strange.

I would get some real headphones, but every time I go to buy them I see the cost of them, and a cheep £10 pair of earbuds next to them. Damn my cheepness.

You all make we envious. My poorness means I have to get crapy earphones. Went to some random shop and saw some for £5. Went to the counter and it turned out they had been reduced to £1, which is good for my financed, but really shite for quality. :(

I use to use headphones all the time until I broke about 5 pairs of them so I just got some $50 logitech speakers. In my opinion a great speaker set up will always beat headphones but ambiance is just so much better through headphones.

Nothing can beat Sennheiser in my books.

There should be a big ol' headphone statue somewhere in the world where people can plug in their headphones and.... where am I going with this?

Headphone rule =]

What I wouldn't give for a pair of those £200 BOSE headphones...

I freakin love headphones.

One day I'll get some $400 roland monetors for my midi stuff and some Sennheiser for general listening.

Man headaphones are great, better sound and less chance of an ear infection =D

As long as the blasted thing can make it so the sound goes in the person's ears and doesn't vomit out to everyone sitting around them. Drives me bonkers...

i got a nice pair of noise cancelling jbl's got them cheap at a boxing day sale

I love Bose. They're a really awesome company and those noise-canceling headphones are The Awesome when you have a long plane trip.

You're telling me. Bose is one of the only quality companies left in the industry, if you don't mind me saying so.

I use really shitty earphones when I'm out - ones I get free with stuff, generally. There's the iPod earphones as well, which are terribly bad, but I'm unwilling to spend extra money on headphones, considering that I only have my music at 128kbps, and I can't see myself getting much gain on quality considering the devices that I use.

On my desktop, it's a different story. A set of big Pioneer SE-M270 full-size headphones, gold-plated connectors, et cetera. I got those free as well, but at least they work much better than the other ones I have.

For anyone looking for something with great audio quality at an affordable price, look into the Sennheiser HD 415s. They sound as good as headphones twice the price, with the only downside being the somewhat flimsy build and the lack of noise canceling. They're not phenomenal, but better than any pair I've found for the money. The HD 280 Pro is also an awesome pair, though more expensive.

my headphones broke.. so I came up with a nifty solution:

thus making my headphones the most foul creation of man or beast.

My ears are primarily used for micro-rabbit burrows, and inserting those pesky white blobs makes them frisky. iPod headphones >>> Sennheiser.

My sister stepped on my headset so now I have to buy a new one.

Any suggesstions? Just need a basic mic. and headphone set. Maybe I can just get a wireless mic too but it's gonna need a charger, because I hate switching batteries.

I'm in a similar situation, my set of headphones are in a wheelbarrow, perched precariously up in a tree. What should I replace them with?

I use a nice pair of Sennheiser Earbuds for travelling / MP3 Player.

I use a large pair of earmuff type headphones for my home / PC usage.

For Headphones I really recommend NOT getting full headsets. I've had a headset with a microphone once and it just gets in the way. I do know some headsets have removable microphones and those are fine. Even if you can rotate the microphone and it'll stay in place, after some time it'll loosen up and just keep falling back down in front of your face.

I got a set of gamecom pro1 headphones and I loves them especially the two features where I can turn on distance based sounds and boost the base of all songs. they're fucking awesome but I still use skull candy earbuds for travel mainly cause I've never seen a usb headphone compatible MP3 player

I don't get why people spend hundreds of dollars on headphones. I've listened to those fancy Bose ones that cost like $350. And I honestly don't notice a difference between those and my $15 Sony ear buds.

I have a ps3 mic and it has this nifty little thing that I can bend so it sticks straight up. If I put two on it would look like horns. :D

Koss Porta Pro. Relatively cheap, nice sound quality. This is my second pair, actually, but since they have a lifetime warranty for these...

You are either lying, or you just didn't hear the difference. When it comes to headphones you should be able to notice the difference between low end and high end.

The better headphones are able to pump out more bass without degrading the finer sound quality.
The better headphones usually play louder (not always the case though).

Before I got my first pair of Sennheisers (through sponsorship), I never actually bought a separate pair of headphones beyond whatever came with my CD players. With the better headphones I hear sounds in music that I didn't even know was there.

The best bang for your buck headphones usually come at the 50-100 dollar range.

My Headphones:
- Sennheiser HD280 Pro
- Sennheiser HD555
- AKG K701

I use my AKG's with a project head box II headphone amp, although I had a cheap C-Moy for the longest time. The 280 Pro is my main headphone when I'm out of the house. My dad's using the HD555's since I've got my bases covered.

I'm going to buy a pair of Shure IEM's since the seal on my HD280's is loosening. I also want to upgrade my headphone amp, and one day by the Grado GS-1000.

Everyone thinks I'm nuts and that I have way too much money.
