You gotta try Firestone Double Barrel Ale. Delicious, delicious beer. Unfortunately, only available out here on the West Coast... maybe I'm not going to move away...

If I could afford it I'd drink Woodforde Wherry and Woodforde Mardlers, unfortunately I can't so I have to make do with whatever crap lager is in the house.

Oh what. Theres no free beer in this thread at all :(

Favorite beer eh?
I dunno, I've been getting into little creaters pale ale and coopers pale ale lately. Hoegaarden usually goes down well also.

Lest favorite beer? easy, ANY and EVERY light beer, they ALL taste like as radish. I'm also not the biggest kilkenny fan either.

I can't say I've heard anything by the name of Sleemans. What country are you from? I'm from England but I can't say I've seen anything going by that name down South.

they are canadian, specifically from ontario. the funny part is the original owner's house is now a strip joint AND a historic site

for me it's sleeman honey brown or guiness, tho boddingtons and tennants is pretty good

Coors and Alexander Keith. I love Guiness, but I'm restricted to lite beer on account of my kidneys...

I also want to try some of this Hobgoblin you all speak of. Can I find such beer here in America? If so, where?

About Sleeman Breweries. I haven't been to Guelph very much (maybe once since the brewery reopened) so I didn't know that the old site went so, er, speakeasy-like.

We get it in Ontario (the province in Canada, not the city in California) through our liquor stores; there's a small section for imported beers in many locations here. I don't know how it's done in the States... maybe try a liquor store that orders imported stuff a lot, and see if they have any on the shelves or are willing to special-order some in for you.

Also, what the fuck?

Dave Chappelle parodied a Samuel Adams commercial on his show by pretending to be Samuel L. Jackson. He just screamed obscenities at everyone until they drank his beer. Best clip that show ever put out! Should be on youtube or some part of the internets if you want to watch it.

Certain bottle shops in Australia have it. I tried it because of it's reputation and I thought it was good, but not great.

My personal fav is the Holgate Mt Macedon Ale, but that is made by a local Victorian brewery so I don't know where else you can get it.

Beer is great. If you can't connect with the previous statement, then I strongly urge you to do everything within your power to go out and start drinking some right now.

Whats your favourite and why? Any that you used to hate but now love and vice-versa?

I'm a Guiness guy myself, although if I'm having a meal like a nice curry or some sweet pizza then I find Cobra's a nice crisp lager to get the job done.

I ideally favor a bottle of unpasteurized Guinness from Dublin, Ireland. Don't forget:

Guinness is good for you.

SAMUEL JACKSON! IT'LL GET YA DRUNK! No but seriously, I'm not a big beer fan. I'm more partial to hard liquer and mixed drinks, but I drink Heineken or Milwaukee's Best when beer's the drink around.

I'll always be a Coors Light fan. It just goes down so easy. Any kind of Sleemans is good too. Sleemans Cream Ale, or Honey Brown.

Also, I'll be very surprised if anyones had anything from the Ringwood Brewery (subtle clue as to where I live ;) It's a fairly small brewery with a large reputation, winning best bitter of England once I do believe.

It's a Canadian beer

I'm a Guinness man along with the OP, for several reasons. It's heavy, but less carbonated, and being that I'm in college, nearly no one will drink my beer if they find it sitting around.

But Guinness is expensive where i am...So i'll settle for a Bud if i have to. I'll do imports too, and a good wheat beer seems to be my current favorite.

Hoegaarden.

I'm not a big fan of lager - or champagne or wine, for that matter. I guess I never acquired the taste for bitter drinks. That's probably why I like Hoegaarden, since it tastes fruity.

Moosehead. It has a great taste, and it's from the oldest independantly-owned Canadian Brewery.

Jamaican Lager Beer. All we drank at my uni house last year.
Also do the fruity flavoured beers count?

If the beer is dark enough that you can't see though it, then I probably like it. Most everything else might as well be water.

When I can, I have been trying out a few varieties of Irish Reds lately though.

It depends on the situation. If I want light beer that'll leave room for a big meal, then I go for Blue Moon with a slice of orange. It's light yet still smooth and not bitter. I hate bitter beer.

If I've already eaten and am not full or if I'm just snacking on bar food while watching a game or something, I'll go for the darkest, thickest beer the place has. If they have Guiness on tap, I'll do that (not in bottles nor cans as it just isn't the same). If they don't have that, I'll go for the darkest micro-brew they have. There is a micro-brew in Vegas where I live called Barley's that has an excellent dark stout. It's as dark as Guiness with a nice thick foamy head yet it doesn't have the same "burnt toast" kick to it that Guiness has. It tastes more like home-made dinner rolls and is nearly as filling.

I second that unless, like I said in an earlier post, I'm saving room for a big dinner. I love the very dark, thick stouts but they fill me up too much to have with a dinner.

Goldspur, a Lager brewed for The Hop In Brew in Calgary by Alleykatt Breweries. It tastes like a smooth pear cider with the full bodyness of a good beer. It got a fruity flavor but is never too sweet and it's the most brilliant beer I've ever had. That and Pumphouse's Blueberry Ale is also a great brew.

Mmmmm... Sleeman's Honey Brown is my Go To Beer, when I'm not going to The Hop In Brew for the best beer in the world.

Also, Leff is REALLY good (German or French, not sure, only found it in Europe) I also had this incredible beer in Amsterdamme which I cannot remember for the life of me what it was called, it was either Dutch or German.

EDIT: It was called Hertog Jan, I just remembered.
