I wish that the handles weren't attached to the glass beneath them, I need a railing, not a gigantic thing on the side, I'm find that holding my entire body up on my finger tips while I go up a raging escalator to be incredibly frightening. |

He nurtures it lovingly, caring for it as it fattens up and then spins its cocoon. The second it emerges from its chrysalis, he takes it and stuffs it in a killing jar. Oddly, he feels as though it's watching him as it dies. He pins it to the wall at the foot of his bed. One night, his parents come in to find that the moth is gone, and the boy has been wrapped in caterpillar silk, his mouth stitched shut. Freaked me right out, that did. I've been terrified of moths ever since. They always flap right towards your face, the treacherous buggers. I usually put my hand over my mouth and run. |

You know that's a sure fire way of kicking a heroine addiction without withdrawls. I'm afraid of large crowds, but when I'm by myself. I guess it is only general paranoia. |

Copy Clerk Posts: 107 Joined: 3 Sep 2008 | I've got the standard needles, rejection, bees fears. I also have a fear of shadows and other moving objects in a dark room. I would rather have a pitch black room than one with a window and a street light next to it. That one's kinda weird. Also, fear of dropping important/expensive objects out of windows and down cracks. If I have a camera in my hand, and the window is open in the car, I have to hold the camera with both hands, and consciously avoid thinking about it going out the window. If I have a wallet or keys in my hand and I'm walking near a storm grate, I grip it really tightly and avoid the grate, or get over it as fast as possible if I can't avoid it. Weird, huh? |

Lightning because it's essentially "out of fucking nowhere your now dead or maimed" kinda of situation that scares the hell out of me. Thunder because, if you here thunder, lightning is close by. My other would have to be anything moving fast at me or near me. I've been hospitalized 4 different times for being hit by a vehicle, thus anything bearing down on me with speed will make me freak. I flinch like a bitch at flys moving too fast near my vision for christ sake... |

just to put you at ease, you're much more likely to see lightning first. by the time you hear the thunder, you're safe |

Gone Gonzo Posts: 4562 Joined: 22 Jun 2008 | Also: Large crowds. I cannot talk in large crowds..My voice kinda drifts and such stoping at times. But when I am alone and speaking with 2-3 people my voice is as smooth as a babys skin. I dunno, I can talk on a intercom and such very good so I guess its when a lot of people are paying attention to me it happens. |

I only took showers for years. I've gotten over it to some degree, but every time I'm in water over my head I still hear that damn theme. |
Pulitzer Laureate Posts: 828 Joined: 12 Aug 2008 | I'm really not afraid of anything. I think it's because of my sheltered suburban small town raising. I only encountered really scary things later in life when I was less likely to be psychologically impacted by them. I know better than to be scared of the dark, or spiders etc. In my mind it works as like an irrationality. Finding reason to be scared of the dark is like calling the sky green for me. It doesn't make sense so it doesn't scare me. |

Press Junketeer Posts: 384 Joined: 3 Nov 2008 | Bridges, live in MN and we had one go down last year, and then another was just torn down in my city because it didn't even come close to safety standards. When driving on a rode alone I have a fear that any car coming from the opposite direction is obviously bound to swerve in front of me and smash my car head on. I have that pitch-black room with mirrors thing too, not that bloody mary BS, I just had an a little encounter with myself popping up across from, myself that scared me senseless. I also am terrified of the supernatural. Obsessed and terrified. Another weird one is that I live in a constant fear of my glasses just exploding sending tons of sharp glass into my eyeballs. |
Muckraker Posts: 277 Joined: 17 Jul 2008 | I have a fear that every person I pass on the street will attack me. When I walk around I often pay a lot of attention where people are, where are items I could possibly use as weapons, and where are places I can run and hide. Even though it might seem as this comes from too much gaming, it actually comes from me being bullied for a over half a decade when I was young. Back then this was a reality. |

Don't we all buddy, don't we all. I don't really have any like, super strange fears, nothing like, I am scared of strings at 10pm on Tuesday nights or anything. I am kind of a pussy when it comes to horror movies. If I watch one I can't sleep with the lights off or with any super dark places in my room. |

If I would do that, I'd be speaking all the time on the phone. I live in the center of the city with 80´000 people living in it. I just decided that I will look so tough that no one would want to try to attack me. Tattooed arms, piercings and so fotrh... It made me feel better. |

Actually, I don't have any irrational or wierd fears. Not of anything realistic, anyway. The thought of the world actually ending scares the shit out of me, probably because I haven't had long enough to live, but I consider that an unrealistic thing to be afraid of since the chances of it happening are so low (hopefully). I am somewhat afraid of spiders, but I don't consider that wierd or embarrasing since most people are. It's not that bad a fear either, doesn't stop me from killing them.
And, being 15, I have a fear of talking to/interacting with beautiful women...well, most women... but since that's probably only temporary and it's not particularly bad for my age either, I don't consider that serious either.
Heh, I feel better about myself now.
