My box of 50 pens.

That's a good one actually. I'll keep the paper and we can meet up after the radiation has cleared.

how long does it take for radiation to clear?

The most useful scientific information available. You know, the stuff that would allow me to rebuild civilization after the war ends. I assume other people would survive the war as well, so we could repopulate and use the information to bring society as close to the way it was prior to the war as we could.

If it is given that I will automatically survive, I will save me best female friend (not gf... yet) and after that some food and some survival eqiupment (knives, gas masks, raincoats). And after that, we can talk firearms.

That was a little more than one thing. But it is listed after priority.

A nuclear bomb. There's going to be a seller's market for them after all of those pesky governments have wasted their current stockpiles in a nuclear war. And if noone wants to buy then I've still got a nuclear weapon to irradiate the country of my choice just as they are coming out of their bunkers and thanking their deity of choice for their survival.

Mwhahaha.

First, mods don't like it when people chop up quotes like that.

I believe the time taken for radiation to clear is something to do with the molecular half-life of the most complex isotope irradiated.

Well, I'd most likely just have Eternal Valliance pick me up and flee the area... all of my belongings in tact

but I understand the question, so with that in mind I answer it serously... I'd most likely save my MtG collection. A new X-box is a whole lot easier to find then a plainswalker

A jar of pickles or a magazine. I need something to do when all my problems are being solved with radiation and such things that comes with nukes.

One of those large lead aprons that dentist make you wear. That way my testicles won't be getting cancer when I venture out into the radiation soaked wasteland that was once my country.

Having lived under the threat of total nuclear holocaust most of my life I was always of the opinion that the best thing to do was to get out of the house into an open area.

To be swiftly vaporized.

Thereby avoiding the long lingering death from fallout, or poisoned water and irradiated root vegetables.

One thing? Impossible to think of any one thing, so here's a list

Booze, particularly whisky. Nothing can get you a nuclear holocaust like whisky
Hard Drive, with files, so if i happen to die, someone can find my stuff I'll be remembered
Woman...Any, a few come to mind, and being that it's the end of the world they won't mind terribly at some point
Guns and ammo, for hunting or the impending Zombie apocalypse to happen soon after.
Music and music player. I don't care if it's a CD Player, or even a record player, I need music...
Batteries. For the music player or other things I happen upon.

A time machine

Go back in time, stop the war, be a hero, ????, PROFIT!!!

Did someone watch south park last night?

Anyway, I would probably take a rifle and ammunition. A hunting rifle, so I could get food, and snipe the marauders.

I wouldn't. I'd probably just end up dead trying to round up all of my friends. If I did survive I would have locked everything away in there to begin with, including my friends.

But I suppose, dice, my roleplaying books and my hard drive.

My universal survival kit. It's already prepped and allows me to survive any situation, from a fire to a post-apocalyptic zombie hell, and everything in between. Not that it really matters, because I'll be living quite close to the probably #3 nuke for anti-military effect target in the United States.

Lets work on the assumption that everyone is aware of the the immediate impact of the missles and has had time to outfit a basement or thier own bunker.

Well we don't have basements here in Texas so I'm screwed.

well, i would say my wii but as everything will be destroyed there wont be a T.V to run it on and there wont be any electricity. cant take my laptop as once the battery goes i wont be able to charge it and there will probably be no internet, pretty much anything electrical is out... assuming my family and friends are safe and this is all about one luxury, i'd probably save my books. not read some of them for ages and it would be a good excuse to read them again.

You can carry all the women in the world? You have a big enough bunker?

Every heard of Vault 69...

I would basically be the guy there.

Probably a really big knife. Assuming something survives and I might be able to hunt... Or, as I've learned from fallout, a water purifier?
But who wants to save humanity?
