Although looking back, it's amazing how utterly boring most white people are when it comes to being in relationships with them. Gone Gonzo Posts: 1639 Joined: 23 Feb 2008 | My first girlfriend was black and protestant. I am white and Jewish. Man, my mom really did not like that. There was a period where she wouldn't let her in the house. My dad eventually calmed her down but she never liked her and was happy as can be when we broke up. A part of me still resents her for that... |

And I don't date people who let comedians decide their opinions for them, so I guess that leaves us as just friends. |

Gone Gonzo Posts: 2157 Joined: 28 May 2008 | I briefly dated a girl of half Chinese ancestry if that counts. I think we were both atheist as well. Not many religious people at all round my way. |
Copy Clerk Posts: 82 Joined: 18 Oct 2008 | I went out with a Jewish girl for a while at the beginning of uni, so i suppose that means a different religion and ethnicity, right? She had to keep me a secret from her parents cos they would NOT have approved. I found it a bit strange but I was fascinated learning about her culture. I'm from a very white middle class English city, York, and had not really encountered many ethnic minorities before. She had quite a lot of guilt because she was doubting her faith. I'm an atheist and, though it may be irrational, I also had a bit of guilt about making her doubt her faith. I didn't want to hurt her In hindsight I probably should have helped her deal with those doubts, but I didn't want to feel like I was forcing my opinions on her. We didn't stay together that long, but I don't think that was because of religion. Also, one of my best friends is a girl of Indian descent who's family are strict Muslims. She went out with an evangelical Christian for a while a few months back but he ended up breaking up with her because she wouldn't convert! She has spent her life being smothered by her parents and their religious views (that's how she sees it) and she was not about opt into another. I think she also struggled with his 'no sex before marriage' policy, though he once told me proudly that fore-play isn't mentioned in the bible so God doesn't mind that! Edit: I am currently in Ghana as part of a project for university. I'm a music student and im training in traditional drumming and dancing and doing a photography project. I have a picture on Flickr of one of the dancers in the group I'm training with. I think she is beautiful. I know it's a shameless plug but here's the link: http://www.flickr.com/photos/22753389@N06/2996255094/ If anyone has any constructive criticism on any of my photos, I'd really appreciate it, although please use Flickr, not this forum! Another edit: I've actually started a thread asking for feedback on my photos. here's that link: http://www.escapistmagazine.com/forums/read/18.77735?p=1#951180 |

Well, that is a belief concerning the afterlife so...yes? I think? Anyway, being Asian-Australian and living in the most hypocritically racist area of the entire US (that is, East Bay California where all the girls constantly spout how they don't like racists and racial discrimination yet exclusively date white guys [and it doesn't end there]) I haven't really had much luck with people of different ethnicities. I find most Caucasian females here to be too snobby and pretentious in that literally every school in the state is like a fashion show, we don't have any single black girls, and I haven't really found any latinas to make friends with yet. Different religion, yes. Being an atheist I've been quite flexible in my choices, so far as to try dating an Evangelist. And I haven't found another Ozzie in this state yet. |

I find Latina women to be unbelievably attractive. I have never DATED one, per se, not for lack of trying, just because the ones I tried to date weren't interested. I always said (Sexism Alert) that if I were single and rich, I wanted to travel the world sleeping with women from every culture... As for YOU being a racist or even just biased, I have no clue. I get on better with white women than Latina or even black women. That's all there is to it, we just have more in common. Not that I didn't flirt with a few black women in my day either. So yeah, anyway. Back on topic. Maybe it is just your preference (I don't get on well with Atheists either, so I don't see anything wrong with that. It is just easier to make a relationship work if you both believe in one thing.) That is all I can really add at this point... User was banned for: Ipod Saves Girl's Life. (Permanent) |

Never successfully, but I've tried at various times to date an Indian Girl and a Chinese Girl. I've rarely gotten far enough to actually ask about religion though. I did grow up in Southern Calgary though, which is FULL of Mormons, and they don't date "outside" the fold, I had a friend who converted for a girl and I still have a bunch of friends who are of the Mormon persuasion. A good female friend of mine in University however was a devout Lutheran and one of her boyfriends was an Atheist, it was always fun watching them fight about religion. Also my Girlfriend WAS a Wiccan, but she has since followed me into the realm of healthy skepticism, though she is far more "spiritual" than I am.
