Best commercial ever. I don't mind vegimite, my brother brought some back from Australia and it wasn't bad. How about all that snow were getting though eh? I love it! User was banned for: Poll: Round 5 - Field of Four - (1) Turbine vs (1) Nintendo. (Permanent) |

Gone Gonzo Posts: 2116 Joined: 23 Feb 2008 | I've never seen it for sale here in the states, so I haven't tried it. I do know what you're talking about, though. |
Beat Writer Posts: 135 Joined: 4 Sep 2008 | I hate myself for doing this but it's "Branston pickle". Edit: on topic, is vegemite much like marmite? 'Cause I freaking love marmite! |

I think so. Marmite is blasphemy to sandwich kind. We do not speak of it. |

Vegemite was developed as an alternative (or maybe substitute, I dunno) to marmite. |

Haven't gotten much here , how far up north are you , I'm in Windsor , which is apparently the southernmost city of Canada , we got maybe a 3 cm layer a few days ago . Crazy the snow they get in the Atlantic provinces though, eh? |
Muckraker Posts: 260 Joined: 17 Nov 2008 | Marmite and Promite are dis-gust-ing. Vegemite is where it's at. I'm Australian and i love the stuff, although i only ever have it on bread rolls or toast, never on bread, and i spread it pretty thin because it has a strong taste. I do prefer peanut butter though, that is amazing on bread. |
Pulitzer Laureate Posts: 757 Joined: 26 Jul 2008 | I was born in Australia but have grown up in the States and am not partial to Vegimite. I dont really see how me being born in Australia has anything to do with it considering I am more American anyways but I just felt like adding that part it. Final Summation: I do not like vegimite; not like I so dearly love Nutella. |

Hmm it becomes clear that I need to get me some vegemite... |
On the Record Posts: 6994 Joined: 22 Aug 2008 | I have no idea what this "vegemite" you speak of is. All I know is Marmite. Sweet sweet marmite. |
Gone Gonzo Posts: 3694 Joined: 8 May 2008 | Vegemite is a little more bitter than marmite. Also its not made from vegetables, its a yeast extract left over from brewing beer. |
Gone Gonzo Posts: 1054 Joined: 14 Dec 2007 | Need an option for those of us who have heard of it, but never tried it. |
Pulitzer Laureate Posts: 931 Joined: 17 Sep 2008 | I live n Australia and I love Vegemite. By the way it is made from mainly yeast extract. I also love Marmite but I would have to say vegemite and marmite are both awesome. |
Press Junketeer Posts: 409 Joined: 22 Apr 2008 | It's alright, but it is quite strong. |
Press Junketeer Posts: 460 Joined: 4 Jun 2008 | I tried it once, the morning we arrived in Sydney (thought it was gross). I was told that most of the people that like it were fed it as a kid, so I guess it can grow on you. |

Vegemite is still grease scraped out of barrel of piss... Nah I enjoy it, thick on my bread... But what I do like doing is approaching annoying exchange students and daring them to eat a jarfull of it using only a spoon... Many laughs have been had with that one. |
Pulitzer Laureate Posts: 938 Joined: 9 Nov 2008 | Yeah, I'm not going to say that you're not Australian if you don't like it. I will say that it's unusual that you don't. 1. It is quite tasty when applied in moderation. I love it, but to each his own. |

That's why the Americans hate it; because they have some weird notion that Vegemite should be spread like jam (Or 'Jelly', as they seem to call it). And I hate thickly-spread jam, personally. EDIT: Being an Aussie myself, I love the stuff. But it's an acquired taste, like Beer or Oyster. |
Infamous Scribbler Posts: 617 Joined: 22 Oct 2008 | Yea I've seen it here in the states but I get one of two responses when I ask is it any good, yes its absolutely delicious or no I'd rather lick a dead animal...maybe I should just go ahead and try it. |
Gone Gonzo Posts: 2487 Joined: 29 Nov 2007 | I wasn't able to swallow it while I was in England for a bit. Then again everything I eat is covered in Carolina Gold Barbecue Sauce so I imagine that freaks out a lot of people. |

It was originally created from the leftover crap in the bottom of brewing vats at a beer brewery in Australia. that's another reason why it tastes like shit. and it burns your mouth. |
Muckraker Posts: 320 Joined: 20 Dec 2007 | No, i too dont like the taste of Vegemite. Everytime i see those ads for the survey they make me cringe. Vegemite Pizza? Vegemite Ice-Cream? No Thanks! |
Infamous Scribbler Posts: 686 Joined: 3 Jul 2008 | It's okay and yeah it's fermenting leftovers, it is healthy and yeah the taste ain't for everyone (some just make the mistake of using too much, you only need a little), I hear Asian folk can't stand it. It's nice w/ honey on toast. :) |

For those of you who don't know, Vegemite is a famous healthy Australian sandwich spread that is supposed to make kids healthy and energetic. The only problem is it tastes like shit. The name implies that it's made with vegetables, but that logic fall flat on it face the moment you open he jar. It looks like someone scraped the grease off the under side of their car and bottled it, its brown and spreads like tar. As for the taste... Open up a jar of it and take a deep smell of it because that exactly how it tastes. If it is made of vegetables it must be so processed every trace of said veggie has been purged from the mix because it in no way tastes like vegetables that's for dam sure. Are there ANY other Australians out there that think of Vegemite the same way I do?
I'm also aware that you can buy Vegemite over seas as well. Any British or Americans feel the same way?
