Pulitzer Laureate Posts: 979 Joined: 25 Sep 2008 | Being home alone sucks. I may have enjoyed it when I was still a kid and in high school, but I moved out when I was 17. I've been home alone till my.. 19th.. or so. Then I moved in with my still-loving-happily-ever-after partner. I don't like it when I'm home alone. I miss my partner when I am. |

*snap* Aw, dang it. Since I take Internet classes, I'm home alone quite often. I really enjoy peace, quiet, and alone time. |

Gone Gonzo Posts: 1467 Joined: 16 May 2008 | I like having the house to myself every now and then. I am able to clean it up a bit, get things organized, play cheesy power metal and sing along as loud and horribly as I want, I can game and be on the computer at the same time without anyone complaining.. It is nice, but only every now and then. I tend to get a bit hermit-ish if I am alone too much. |
Gone Gonzo Posts: 1077 Joined: 26 Apr 2008 | I don't mind being home alone. It means I can play games and music a) loudly and b) with the door open, and I don't have my mum showing me a new vase she bought every time I get up to go and do something else. |

On the Record Posts: 6111 Joined: 25 Jan 2008 | At this moment, I am home alone. My roommate is off at a comic convention, and I've had since Wednesday all to m'self. I like it, but I also miss having my pal around. On the one side, clothing became optional when he left, but on the other, underwear is the only mandatory thing when he's home so I didn't gain much. But he's gone for a couple days more, and I've made more progress cleaning house since he left than the rest of the year combined... So if he makes a mess when he comes back, I might need to use a cattle-prod on him. |

BANNED Posts: 1084 Joined: 29 Sep 2008 | I love being home alone, gives me more time to give my crank the ol' "wank" and allows me to get away from the pople I hate the most (those closest to me). However, I get borded with no one around and subsequentally go to The Escapist to insult people in ways witty enough to not get me banned, which would get me banned on any other gaming site. P.S. Darth Mobius wouldn't be are leader if "Escaporia" existed. Video-Game Man or Russ Pitts would. "Darth Mobius" and "Anarchamitis" would just launch a coo backed by "Jack Thompson", the ruler of "Eastern Australia," who hated gamers and wanted to take back "Western Australia", which "Ecaporia" comprises of. The coo would be stopped by "The Root of All Evil", "The Amazing Orgazmo", the scorned "Monarch of Greenwich", and "Shivari", who would stop it by resurrecting the great "Ben "Yahtzee" Crowshaw," who would rightfully take his place as "King of The Ecapists" and the continent of Australia, in an era of Zero Punctuation videos that were more like his earlier ones. use headphones, it's not as awesome but a room lit by 20 glow sticks only is still really fucking cool, especially if you twirl some (ravers ftw) |

See, the way out of that is to get your own place and move out of your parents' house. But then still you must get call display so you don't need to pick up the phone when you're not in the mood for a tele-chewing_out.
Done it. Well, sorta. It wasn't glowsticks, it was neon body paint and a black-light lit room, and it was Dancemix 95. |

Gone Gonzo Posts: 1505 Joined: 6 Sep 2008 | I have a wife and kid, so when I get to be home alone it's like a dream come true sometimes. You have no idea how annoying baby toys can get. Or, maybe you do. It's the only time I get to play games like Gears and Dead Space, so I don't have to let the baby experience the horrific gore. And, because my wife won't let me play them when the baby's around. |

Dude! Duct-Tape! And yes, I know EXACTLY how annoying toys can be. My parents made the mistake of buying me the big 2-man "Marauder-like" Exo-Squad E-Frame. Move the arm/gun a certain way, laser sounds. Press the buttons on the side, laser sounds. Even the clicking noise of the legs being moved began to drive her nuts. Think she learned her lesson, nope! Bought my brother one of those giant toy ambulances with the lights/sounds and the four rubber square buttons on the passenger side door. You know, the ones everyone and their dog would go through the toy aisle and try to turn as many trucks on at once. |

Dude I had the exo-squad stuff when I was a kid, it was the shit. They were mad expensive though, and I kept losing the guys that went in the exo-suits. I've tried duct tape, but child services said something about laws, and whatever, so I made myself a man-cave in the attic. Works quite well, I'd highly recommend it. |
Vault Legend Posts: 2205 Joined: 30 Jul 2008 | It's hit a hit or miss thing with me. Although, for me, it's usually miss since I've been here to college. My college is a college town, so the university makes the city. When school's out, it's quiet as hell. I tend to spend a lot of time futzing around and generally amusing myself via gaming and such. Some days I just feel like interaction, though. And if it's ever a series of days where I'm here by myself (which means my best friend/roomie is out of town), then I'm usually bored as hell for the duration. Lately, he's been working from 8 AM until about 5-5:30, and I have work from 5-7 until 9-12, so I don't see him much anymore. It's a pretty solitary existence, which means lots of quiet and self-whatever, but I'm usually more depressed because of it. I'm a social robot by nature, so being by myself is rather boring. Although there are moments when it's nice. Not much room in the dorm room, though, so I usually end up going out anyway, negating the by-oneself time. So, take that as you will. |

Where duct-tape fails, use velcro. Cover a wall with the plastic hook end, and dress the bratling in something with the fuzzy cloth half all over the back of the clothes. So long as you don't hang them upside down or stick them really high up on the wall, don't think there's any laws against it. Just velcro a couple toys to the wall with them, and it's off to the ManCave! |

No, not a thread bashing the antics of a tiny albino child in movie form.
But rather, a discussion on being home alone. Do you enjoy it? Would you want to do it more often?
Personally, I love being home alone. Maybe that's because my family annoys me. Maybe. I get to do what I want, break all the silly rules my mother enforces on me, and play my music really really loud.
Discuss.
