Don't talk to me about these programs as they are Very law unfriendly. Backing up DVD's is a stupid idea. I just hope you don't request other to help you in finding this new for you program. Klappy!

Also - that was good.
What did you try and do? Tell me! I must know if I can help.
For now..... *Brings forward plans for storage upgrades*
And my desktop is faster :P
IS it now? and what are the specifications of your desktop?
Core 2 Duo running at 3GHZ with a 1333 Mhz FSB, 8800GTS 680MB(G80 core), 500GB 7200 RPM HDD, and 4GB of DDr2 800 RAM in Windows Vista Home Premium (64-bit). Go!
-8800GT Turbo Force Edition (11% faster then your average 8800GT) 512mb 256 bit stream single GPU Graphics Card
-3x Seagate 500GB 32mb 7200.11 RPM Hard Drives (making for a total of 1.5TB of space)
-LG DVD/RW Drive
-Centurion 590 Cooler Master Case
-AceBel 607Watt Power Supply Unit
-Windows Vista Ultimate 64-bit
-Microsoft Office 2007 Enterprise
Take THAT! MWHAHAHAHA!
Your power supply sucks. You really need a reputable name when it comes to that. I picked Corsair, but Antec and Zalman modulars are pretty good as well.
Also, the only reason that you need 8GB of RAM is because Windows Vista has an insatiable hunger for it.
ameatypie: Not at all :D Dont worry - at the mo i have 3 500GB HDD's. I need more storage still, so planning to get a 320GB as a boot drive, and then start buying 1TB drives after that.
Holy carp! Who needs that much space!? What are you doing with your computer?
Movies! Uncompressed movies take up 5-8GB and that's for SD.
Jeez... Oh! Do you guys know of any programs that convert .avi into DVD files? My mum wants my friend to download some TV shows for her and he can't find a program to download them and mum can't wait till I get my laptop. (It's HDMI compatible so she'll plug it into the back of the big screen... Or so she says)
Why? Most modern DVD players (and computer) can use AVI files. You shouldn't need to convert them. In answer to your question though, no. No I don't.

Whaddya mean! For a start, Acebel is a respectable brand of PSU. Secondly, 607 Watts is HEAPS, espically when this is a very high quality 607watt. I could comftorbly chuck in a second grapics card and another half-dozen HDD's and STILL have a stable system.
You probably overpaid for these two.
Does "Ultimate" have any features that aren't in "Home Premium" that you actually use?
Does Office "Enterprise" have any features that aren't in "Standard" of "Student" that you actually use?
-- Alex
Absolutly! Media Center and Remote Desktop Connection are just two of the many useful features of my OS that i enjoy. And as for office enterprise.... guess what? I got it for free, so i aint complaining.
My computer, overall, cost about 1200 US Dollars once we were all finished. I think that is definatly worth it for what i got in that package - but then, i suppose i did have access to some serious discounts. The only thing i got for free in that lot was office.

You sure?
Very. If it's not a cheapo bottom end DVD player, it can probably handle AVI and computers will always be able to do AVI.

Right, so I still haven't been able to fix my microphone. The problem is that it keeps playing the input it's recieving over my speakers. Which, seeing as how they're right next to each other, causes some problems. I don't know why it's doing that, seeing as how it never did before.

If it's not any settings, it's most likely a physical problem. If something is shorting two lines, that would do it. This is unlikely though. Very unlikely. Did you install anything like drivers recently? Did this start happening right after your most recent update?

Nope, I haven't installed any drivers or anything. And it started happening shrotly before my last update.

I was talking to you and Peek, and turned up the microphone boost. When I turned it back down, the loopthrough started.

Sounds like a hardware malfunction. something happened to your microphone when you turned it up. I don't actually suggest this, but hitting the microphone a few times might fix it. Don't do that though.

What's the make and model of your laptop?
Asus F8Va I think. Im not sure exactly
As best I can tell, it's an uncommon problem, so it's most likely not Asus fault. You did something and it hates you now. Try going in and turning all of the computer volumes down to zero. Every slider bar should be at zero with no exceptions at all.

I blame you. You probably messed it up when we were talking. The sound of your voice probably made it want to kill itself. But no, I've done that volume thing, and it still persists when I turn the volume back on.

Don't know what to tell you then. Send it in for repairs I gues because that sounds like a hardware malfunction.
Oh, well anyway. There are third party programs that'll do that for cheaper.
Maybe. But Vista Ultimate is COOLER.
HOW?
Its ULTIMATE. And besides, i would rather have all the essential programs i need in one operating system, rather then going and spending money on second or third party software that does not go as smoothly with vista.

Vista is not "cool"... Linux is cool
Have fun with your WINE, I'll enjoy un-emulated games.
I dont use WINE. I have a Vista boot (It was free with my PC) for games and things exclusive to windows and my Linux, Mostly variations of Ubuntu, for everything else

Yes...Yes I do... More like a Donkey as I use Vista.

You aren't. You just feel that way. Wasting that HDD with ubuntu of all things.
