Infamous Scribbler Posts: 665 Joined: 9 Jun 2008 | I have been a Chemical Engineer for about 10 years now. I used to work in the chemical industry directly. I dealt with dangerous chemcials everyday. The job I had before the one I have now, I would have to spend about 5-6 hours out of every day in a full face respirator and about 4 hours a month in full Level A hazmat suit with an SCBA (air tank). It was dangerous work, but I was paid well to do it. After 2 dangerous spills at my old job, I decided I liked living more than my huge paycheck - so I quit and went to work as a Research and Development Engineer for the worlds largest Snackfood Manufacturer. Ben here over a year and it is the best job I have ever had (and I actually make more $ in this job, so win-win for me, but like I said, money really doesn't matter). I spend every day now in a labcoat and I have a shaved head... that is where my avatar comes from, I am so like Dr. Farnsworth. |

That sounds like a pretty sweet gig! I'm currently a full time student, part time geek squad agent. I get paid to tell you your stuff is broken. |

Paperboy Posts: 47 Joined: 28 Oct 2008 | I am a mild mannered full time arts student by day. By night I am the head bouncer at one of the local clubs. It is fun stuff. I get to see all the stuff I read about in class in action. It is like watching an episode of national geographic every night. Only occaisionally I have to play "Steve Irwin" and see a moron to the door. The only problem it is all reruns involving the mating habits of the sloppy drunk. The down side it that it seems sleep is out of style, and early classes get missed. But when I do get out, I do have the best drinking stories:D |

Uh... there's an IBM in Canberra (Central City IIRC - it's been a while) and Adelaide (on the city ring - greenhill?) and IIRC one in Melbourne and probably in all the other states as well so I'm going with... Australia. I'm currently employed as a contract network administrator for roughly 30 companies and a 7 day schedule. I've done stints in Helpdesk, Electronic Data Integration, Industrial Espionage (heh), Law, a metal band (leopard skin mafia - vocals/bass), Programming (mostly internal applications), teaching and looking after handicapped kids. I've also done voice over work for advertisements and was once an extra on All Saints (not that that is something to be particularly proud of I think). All in all I've done too much - but I've always been on the path to being an IT. Edit: And the pay is not bad considering. |

This. I did too...it wasn't as glamorous as my imagination led me to believe. Money? Cars? Women? Fame? Oh, they are there...but only in the games you sell. On topic: I work as a producer at a radio station. Basically, I put together commercials and imaging for the station! Audio editing 5 days a week. Nice. |

The glorious occupation of student. Of the university variety. No part-time work on the side, much to the frustration of the family.
