The sensible fan would have skipped those ridiculous fillers and moved straight to Shippuden. Lucky for me, there were 40+ Shippudens by the time I got to it. I love Naruto as a story, the manga is actually excellent, the anime just has a lot of cheesy grins and the happy-go-lucky feel. |

Sigh, if you dont like such things don't watch them and quit bitching about it. It's like throwing yourself into traffic and complaining when you get run over. If ya'll can;t put up sensible opions that don't sound like something from 4chan feel free not to contribute and insult my favourite animes/mangas. |
Infamous Scribbler Posts: 530 Joined: 26 Jun 2009 | it upsets me that the manga has ended with a fucking cliffhanger for like 4 months and im wondering when it's going to be good again. |
Gone Gonzo Posts: 1061 Joined: 16 Apr 2009 | I used to like the series. I watched imported versions my brother got and let me watch. It seemed cool and a new idea at that point. But once it hit America.... oh God... I will admit though, Naruto in the black suit does look sort of cool. |

Unless you're a ninja who specializes working during sunsets, which would probably make you the fastest ninja alive.
I'm not reading it, but I do get some ideas on what's happening when I glance a few pages when my brother reads it. Just pray it doesn't go Berserk, where the last two chapters are spent showing worlds colliding (that sounded awesome, which it is, but I wanted more story. I really do hope Kentaro Miura lives long enough to finish Guts' journey) then the author decides to take a break and the next chapter releases near the end of September. That said, Naruto will probably be on the top spot of my must read list if it ever does go Berserk. |
Gone Gonzo Posts: 3265 Joined: 10 Feb 2008 | I quite like Naruto, I just finished the Sasuke Retrieval arc and haven't really started with the upcoming 100 or so filler arcs. I also doubt that anything in either those 100 episodes or Shippuuden can top the glory that is called 'Rock Lee on saké.' I mean damn, I doubt I'll see a more awesome fight than Rock Lee vs Kimimaro. I think I'll move on to Shippuuden, but currently I'm watching Cowboy Bebop again, Shangri La and Texhnolyze. All pretty awesome, especially Texhnolyze is a nice suprise, I love cyberpunk, plus it's anime that finally does not have a cheesy J-Pop song as an opener. |

Gone Gonzo Posts: 1187 Joined: 24 Apr 2008 | Is this about the 2 year long filler? That's why I only like One Piece. It has rather small fillers. Some of them are actually entertaining. I think I'm gonna go and watch some episodes right now! :D I never really understood the noise around Naruto. It doesn't seem like something special... although that's my opinion. I found this yesterday. Rather funny xD http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XmS1_Pxqp3c |

Gone Gonzo Posts: 3168 Joined: 13 Jan 2009 | i love naruto, and besides dragon ball, its probably my favorite manga ever. closely followed by Samurai Deeper Kyo. the only thing bad about Naruto is the INCREDIBLY bad english voice acting for the games and the anime. just some subtitles and im fine. |
Gone Gonzo Posts: 1811 Joined: 20 Aug 2008 | Speaking as an anime fan, I don't consider it a particularly good anime, or manga, for that matter. I never really understood the whole hype around it, but thought I'd check it out to see if I was missing anything and I got pretty far, but the bombardment of filler after the Sasuke Retrieval Arc put me off it big time. I still don't understand people's obssession over it, to be perfectly honest. It's a competent, slightly boring anime series, based on a competent, slightly boring manga. Of course, thats just my opinion. |

Haha, so true, what is it with anime characters just saying someone's name? I never got it. So many times, Sakura looks worried (as frakking usual) and just says "Sasuke..." as if that's supposed to make any sense. |
Beat Writer Posts: 162 Joined: 23 Jul 2008 | I gave up on the anime after Sasuke retrieval, Shippúden episodes were extremely slow and I would rather garotte myself on my own gallbladder than subject themselves to them again. The manga is fine though, as character develpment actually goes at a reasonable pace. |
Infamous Scribbler Posts: 662 Joined: 9 Jun 2009 | Yeah, the manga's perfectly all right. But the anime has too many fillers. Otherwise it's OK, though. |

I am of the opinion that when a manga has too many characters and you don't have time to flesh them all out, you should have them killed in the most spectacularly gory way possible. GO GANTZ!!! |

Can we honestly not get over the fact that he has an orange jumpsuit yet? That's like me saying 'yeah well The Matrix was alright other than the fact that they are ALL WEARING SUNGLASSES' it's part of the mythos, and most of the time isn't supposed to make sense, but in this case, it says something about his personality.
Personally, she pisses me off. She's loved up on a boy who couldn't give a shit about her and spent about a month scampering about with along with Naruto.
Haha, that's awesome. I love One Piece also, but I just don't rate it higher than Naruto in my eyes. I do like it's ability to project emotion really powerfully though, it makes an effort to make a sad and thoughtful scene sad and thoughtful
Indeed, to the point where I question when people express their disappointment for it, if they have actually read it. P.S. That quote stack was hideous. Oh shit wait forgot one.
fufufufu (some other type of japanese-like expression that doesn't really work), friend, I can tell you with a straight face that Rock Lee on Sake was easily my favourite fight scene...until I hit shippuuden. It's in the first arc, and it's insane. That is all.
You can tell that Kishimoto has been toying with it. People have died, and people have almost died, but it's really unpredictable. And the characters are way to disposable in Gantz, but Gantz is awesome. P.P.S. Who the hell thread Necro'd this one? Someone quoted me from around 9 months ago (Syntax Error) |

Well then obviously you are unable to comprehend the subtle beauty of the story lines etc interwoven between the characters. You have missed for example, the well balanced character construction of Ichigo, he has godlike powers yes but they come at a cost. To acuire them he has had to go through countless agonising battles and emotional trials with the constant threat of being devoured by his own darkness. The story lines themselves are pretty solid (more solid than most japanese animes), just because he makes it up on the fly doesn't mean it's not good. |

OT: Let's just say that I read it simply to criticize it. I even wrote a college essay once that compared ninja of reality to ninja of popular culture; Naruto was the standout "least ninja-like ninja" example. |

It was allright other than the fact he was wearing an ORANGE JUMPSUIT, alot of the episodes were stupid fillers who cares about how he gets to the arena, thats when i stopped watching.
