I dont think any1 should talk until they been there the french don't hate us. To be honest most french people don't even care about us, but there are some know it all french reporters who put a camera in front of a naive little college kid who probably can't even locate the U.S. on a map feed him a bunch of bias crap and get the naive little college kid to say something ignorant about topics he has no clue on. Then people in America read it and we go HEY they must hate us. Please! The media are bias all over the world you can't count on them to give you a true view. If you really want to know what french think about Americans your going to have to go there (sorry it's true) . The French want to know about us there going to have to come here as for me... Umm they are allright i guess.

There are two things I cannot stand... People who are intolerant of other peoples cultures. And the French.

They annoy me for some reason. They seem very very stuck up

fully agree with you

although i like the french to the point where i wouldn't mind giving one a 5 pound bill but at the same time i Hate them to the point that if I ever get my hands on a nuke they'd be the first ones i'd test it on .

I was in France during the world cup in 1998, and it was awesome. Maybe they were just being nice because so many foreigners were in the country, but I didn't once encounter the stereotypical French rudeness. I only know one French guy personally, and he's pretty cool.

i only make fun of the French in jest, and i hate french (lessons) at school,
I dislike the belgians more, they are crazy and they hate the world.
(I apologise if you are belgian and are not crazy or hate the world but this is the impression i got from my two or three years of living there)

That's why we sent you to your own sandbox of an island(I'm British in descent, just in case whoever reads this is thick.).

Being partially Polish as well I don't have much to hold against the French, the Dutch however deserve my disdain for starting the 'Polish Jokes'.

They're an alright bunch of folks really. A bit snooty, perhaps, on occasion and with the exception of Daft Punk, have very bad music. They have some good graphic novels though.

You guys got to understand, we Americans don't really hate other countries or believe in that whole patriotic jingoism bullshit (Well, mostly), we just like to make fun of everybody in good humor (And it's not humour you anti-american commie bastards).

Question: When you mean French, do you mean every french? Or just French from France.

I reckon the French are pretty cool really. I speak (okay, try to) French and I have visited France on an exchange, so I like France and the French. Their language is cool, their history is cool and the people I met over there were nice enough. Although the men are all (you heard me) dirty sleazeballs.

Strange how the americans seem to forget the incredible bravery and dedication of the French Resistance when reffering to them as, and I quote "surrender monkeys".

The media probably has a lot to do with it; before the eighties, the French were normally portrayed quite positively in american film and TV, and then once they started stepping on US Cold War policies (As anyone who is afraid of horrible nuclear death might do)the US media seemed intent on portraying them as cowards with horrible accents and odour problems. Gee, coincidence?

Personally, I found the few French people I have met to be both likeable, and nice smelling.

I don't think you can really generalise people based on where they are from. They French culture is fantastic. France was signifactly important in the devlopment of current mathematical theory. Their art and History is fascinating, if you haven't been, Paris is a must.

Don't really see the big deal, then again I'm not American. But don't worry, I'm sure they'll learn to hate the ones who hate them just as much.

True, the Europeans, and pretty much everyone else can be pretty snooty to the US. But really, they had it coming with that "we won WWII all on our own" thing.

I live in Ottawa, right on the Ontario-Quebec border in Canada. I also go to a mostly French university, and it is true that most of the French Canadiens I meet are not impolite at all (I myself am a 'Julien' on one side of my family). However, also, being a history student, I know that united French nationalism in Canada has been, for the last fifty years, run mostly by jerks. Also, looking through history, the French have done some things that have alienated them from others (i.e. Charles De Gaulle letting the British and Americans fight all the major battles for France in 1944, yet made sure to get to the Arc De Triumph in Paris and declare the country free thanks to him). It just takes a few screwups in history for a permanent stereotype to get going.

Yeah I've never really gotten the whole France hatred thing. I mean, without them the USA probably wouldn't exist. To show our gratitude, we didn't help them at all during their own revolution. Aren't we great buddies? Then they even gave us this really neat statue and everything to show they still loved us (I guess it's in New York or something.)

The "Surrender Monkeys" line is likely a reference to a Simpsons episode when groundskeeper Willy is in charge of teaching French for the day. Again, it's all in good fun.

I honestly don't see what the problem is with the French but everyone I know seems to think they are all homosexual.

The accent has links with pretentiousness, if they got rid of that they would liked a lot more. In fact I'm willing to bet that's the real reason Joan of Arc got burnt and Napoleon exiled...

Hating America doesn't mean you have to hate freedom, you could hate them because of their American Dream and irresponsible lending that plummeted the entire world into and economic crisis.
