I have no clue what this show is/was all about.. but I find the situation to be quite ironic.

sit com isn't the word i would describe it as. it was like a weekly tim burton movie, it was a mystery, romance, comedic, masterpiece, about a man who can bring dead things back to life in one touch. It was a drop of originality in a sea of crap. And you guys can't say because some shows on american television is bad, doesn't mean they all are.

So what exactly are you implying? Because it's an American show on an American network it automatically has to go balls up?

uh right I just was saying since it's on an american television channel that it might not have alot of coverage in other countries, especially since it wasn't to heavily marketed over here... I still don't get the term "balls up" though

Balls up (are you serious?)= when someone messes something up rally bad. Which... is what I thought you were implying noting that is was an american company. Like, it's got to be messed up because American or something. My mistake.

Oh yeah= ABC= American Broadcasting COMPANY.... A.B.C. hehe.

Well, that's just made me very happy - I always knew it was going to end belly-up.

I quite liked it. But just so dommyboy and smallharmless know it wasn't even like the stereotypical american sitcom("Honey!! I'm home!" "Oh dear! Jimmy just baked your tuxedo into a pie!"). As what's his name put it, it kind of was a Tim Burton esque mystery series.

I really enjoyed it. It was incredibly whimsical. It had colours and cleavage and bad cg and a sickly sweet romance! It had murder mysteries where you always knew who did it right from the start! But any of it's flaws can be overlooked because it's just so darned charming. (And maybe I love heavy amounts of narration.) I'm disappointed it's getting canceled.

Hearing that kinda pissed me off. It's the only thing I actually watch on ABC anymore...

it really saddens me but can't say I did not see it coming it seems as though Bryan Fuller will never catch a break he makes something awesome it does not last more then two seasons

It doesn't. I believe he meant American Broadcasting Cistern.

That's a real shame. It was sometimes too cute for its own good, but overall well done and creative. They seemed to do better in the second season about creating greater story arcs to encourage return viewers, but by that time I guess it was already too late. Brian Fuller sure knows how to create short-lived shows.

How dare they! Further proof of the James Hellar theory.

The advertisements alone made me roll my eyes. I have no idea what it was about, but regardless it always looked like it was trying way, way, way too hard to attract attention.

It's sad that Chi McBride can't keep a show, though. Like I said, I didn't watch this one, but he's a good actor and I hope he eventually gets it to work out.

...Of course, I'm responsible for it not working out, because I didn't watch his show. So I'm full of crap.

All I have to say is, BRING BACK DESMOND PFEIFFER!

That show was funny for every wrong reason there is. How I miss it so.

It was wonderful.

The four main characters:
The busty blonde,
the forlorn P.I. who yearns for his lost child
The love intrest having died long ago
And a quiet man with the ability to manipulate death.
...And instead of going all film-Noir or Sin-Sity about it, they go happy-merry-sunshine about the whole thing, and pull it off without being utterly disturbing.
I mean, really. Only this show could shoot down, "So is this what it is or is that really a rolling pin under your apron?" by actually having him pull an apron out from under his apron.
It can get away with so much mistreatment and humiliation of dead things with such a lighthearted attitude.

Sometimes I like to think about myself like that: Merry Sunshine wrapped up in black leather and a mild loathing of most of Humanity.

My point is: Don't insult it if you never watched it, and if you do and it doesn't appeal to you, at least recognise that it was one of the most unusual shows America has produced in a long time.

Also, I have to say this for any other fans of cheerfully morbid shows:
Dead Like Me is coming back! Direct-to-DVD for now (scheduled for Febuary), but what I've read is that it is a series of movies, and possibly a new season.

Very sad indeed. Hardly like anything else on television, you were either a fan or you hated it. Rumour is that the writer's strike did the damage, and the network pulled the plug because they don't actually own the show and don't have as much reason to keep it around as some of the other shows.

Anyway, sad to lose my entertainment on Thursday.

They showed a few episodes here on good ol' Blighty. I wasn't a fan but it was O.K. I wont miss it, there are better shows on each Friday.
