I actually consider "shit" the most versatile word in the English language. On topic: I try to not use it often, because I am not particularly fond of sounding like a total moron, however, I do use it occasionally. User was banned for: Your.Name.Here Presents: Perma-Ban, the Thread!. (Permanent) |

It is only through our understanding of what ideas words stand in for that they gain any meaning at all, and it is not the word themselves. Frack can be just a harsh as fuck, it just sounds sillier because it's not the common tongue. Schiblyshibly can be just the same. Just more of a mouth full. Use words as they are needed. No word is a crutch any more than any other word, just use them when their intensity is appropriate. |

Not true. Fuck is a word that conveys a great deal of intensity. It's admittedly been watered down because everyone who wants to be edgy and cool uses it. |

Second... it just sounds... denser... Also I refer all of you to one late George Carlin... |
Gone Gonzo Posts: 2381 Joined: 6 Mar 2008 | Fuck is good as a verb and a noun. I never use it as an adjective though; that's for meatheads and posh kids. |
Gone Gonzo Posts: 1587 Joined: 5 May 2008 | I curse a lot, and the F word happens to be one of the main ones in my vocabulary. I do it to emphasize a point or to convey frustration or emotion. It just comes naturally in my speech. |

That is poor argument. Part of having a good vocabulary is using the best word at the corret time, in the correct way. Sometimes "Fuck" just says it better then any other word in the thesaurus. It's also very versitile. It can be a noun, a verb, an adjective, an adverb, and much more! Plus you can add to it. For Example, Fucktard, Fucknut, Fucktastic, Unbe-fuckan-lieavble. |

Actually, I have quite an extensive vocabulary and I say fuck quite a lot. It's in no way a crutch as it's part of my dialect. Study some Noam Chomsky when your ready to formulate your own opinion and not parrot your parents and teachers. |
On the Record Posts: 5490 Joined: 13 Aug 2008 | I use it sometimes, because I feel like the sheer fact that it is a swear word conveys a certain attitude that non-swear words can't convey. For example, if you stub your toe, you aren't going to shout "FORNICATE" or "FECAL MATTER". On the same note, shouting "OW I STUBBED MY TOE" doesn't convey the same mixture of pain and anger that the word "FUCK" does. |

Gone Gonzo Posts: 1659 Joined: 7 Mar 2008 | Usually I only use it in an ironic sense, such as calling a friend of mine a "stupid motherfucker" or posting on another forum "OMG U Fucing fag i fucking hate you fucking fuck fuck shit cunt." I also use it to emphisize my disdain for something, such as "fucking Minos..." Even when I get angry I don't use it a lot; of course, if you've done something to really piss me off, you'd better be running the other way... The main reason I don't use it as often as other people I know is because I know there are better words to use. While I don't think "fuck" itself is specifically only used as a crutch, I'm not so ignorant as to be unaware that people use it in such a way. For example, instead of calling my grandmother a "fucking cunt" I could say just say "hypocrite". It's that much more insulting becuase it's true; she slapped me across the face for saying that once. Instead of calling Bush a "fucking cunt" you could call him a fascist. It would be that much more hurtful because it's true. Apologies Abound |

Gone Gonzo Posts: 1597 Joined: 13 Oct 2008 | I have no qualms with any swear word, especially fuck! Plus, how can the word describing what caused us to be here, be all that bad??? |
Paperboy Posts: 37 Joined: 21 Sep 2008 | The concept of swear words in the first place is stupid. What's the point of a word that is not supposed to be said? When it comes down to it what makes fuck any worse then apple or potato? |
Beat Writer Posts: 180 Joined: 10 Feb 2008 | When talking, I use it more than I reasonably should, same goes for things like text messages and IM conversation. But when I'm trying my hand at some serious writing, I try to reserve it and other swears for when I need a bit of weight behind my vehemence. If I say something's shit, it sound worse than 'bad'. Likewise, 'fucking shit' is worse than plain ol' 'shit'. |

Words have magical powers dude! Don't you watch south park?(sarcasm) |
Pulitzer Laureate Posts: 907 Joined: 15 Jun 2008 | I actually have a very good vocabulary and commonly use words that confuse people around me. But you must admit that "fuck" has such a wonderfully satisfying feel to it. It is the king of all expletives and no word has yet to scratch it's marvelous perfection. Sometimes you don't want to use big words, sometimes you just need to express a sincere sense of frustration, anger or surprise. That's when expletives come in handy. FUCK! |
Infamous Scribbler Posts: 558 Joined: 5 Feb 2008 | The F-bomb is a word I use very often when I'm riding high on my emotions, ranging from excitement (FUCK YEAH!) to disappointment. (Fuck...) I try to avoid using it to excess when speaking normally because whenever I see people adding "Fuckin'" to everything I find it hard to take them seriously. Please guys, just one F-bomb to denote emphasis on one sentence. Acceptable if you're angry beyond relief, but really don't give me something like, "I fucking fucked a fucked-up fucker in the fucking middle of a fuck factory so you can fucking tell that my fucking was appropriate in the fucking location where I fucked the fucking fuck." ... Pika. Pika pi? Pika pika piiii~! Pikachu~! The more you use it in a sentence, the closer you seem to get to a one word language that relies solely on tones of voice for context. And what's worse is that "Fuck" has only one syllable. |
Pulitzer Laureate Posts: 911 Joined: 20 Jun 2008 | I say 'fuck' all the time, infact I just said it then. But then again, I'm Australian and swearing is in our fucking DNA |
Gone Gonzo Posts: 2301 Joined: 20 Feb 2008 | The swear words are things I use when I find it appropriate. It is all about context and helps convey my mood when I speak. I do swear a lot more often than when I was a kid but I still try to live by a guideline that swear words can have a power of grabbing attention compared to words that do not because we do find them sacred. I have no problem when people swear but it becomes very annoying when they keep using the word or phrase in every sentence or situation. It does show a lack of intelligence when people are not able to convey their thoughts to language or words without the use of the same words whether vulger or not. Basically when I tell someone to shut up when using swear words it is not because I am offended but they need to figure out another way to formulate their thoughts because no one can understand them when they are swearing. |

Oh and if you go around telling others that they can't swear then you are directly opposing the 1st amendment. Period.
