I to shook my head in shame at the DB's who trampled the walmart employee. Then sat more stunned when i learned that two more people had died at Toys-R-Us in roughly the same way. Other than that i played through the Force Unleashed on the 360. |

Indeed. As for me, I spent the whole day in a car, as my family and I were driving home from Thanksgiving in Nebraska (I hate Nebraska). |

Oh, and we went exploring some old maintenance / sewer tunnels while we waited. |

Day after thanksgiving where stores cut huge amounts of money off thier prices. Many people go buy electronics such as tv's or game systems/labtops b/c they tend to be like 1/2 off. Also very popular for general x-mas shopping because of all the price cuts. Stores open around like 5 and lines form 2-3 hours before hand but i have waited in a line for 12+hrs for a 55inch plasma marked from 1300 down to 300 bucks for the 1st 5 customers. Its insane and yes people do die. |

We were discussing this at my work earlier... Did the walmart even close? That's the least they can do for the death of an employee... I heard that after paramedics arrived and were trying to resuscitate the employee, they were knocked around by people rushing into them and not caring as well... Ridiculous |

It's an unofficial retail holiday that marks the beginning of holiday sales with arguably some of the best deals of the year. It's named "Black" Friday because it's the day when many retail stores when from being "in the red", or making a net loss, to being "in the black", making a net profit. It is also, apart from Christmas Eve, the worst day to go holiday shopping, becaue every store is literally mobbed, to the point where several people are trampled each year. Personally, I had a second Thanksgiving with my Dad, after spending the first with my Mom. |

I might've made it worse when I went along with it and told him it was my white supremacist group's day of thanks. I wonder if I have some paperwork waiting on me to sign when I go in this weekend.. Edit: And I sat around being lazy, I think. I really don't even remember now. Probably sat around, though. |

Having been in England on Boxing day, i can say you also have a shopping frenzy that's similar (but only half as bad as) black friday in MOST areas of the USA. So if you wonder what its like in most sane, rational areas of the country, think of boxing day but about two times as many people. BF though always has one story like this every year, and it's almost always at a Wal*Mart, which usually don't attract the highest caliber people to start with. |

Still extremely ridiculous... Can't believe they wouldn't kick everyone in out, it was their fault after all... |
Pulitzer Laureate Posts: 727 Joined: 26 Jun 2008 | Yes, it's the Walmart's fault for not having a cast iron portcullis to prevent people from breaking down the doors when the maintenance guy starts to open them. I don't think you understand just how big this mob was. |
Pulitzer Laureate Posts: 800 Joined: 25 Nov 2008 | Walmart could have done a better job of controlling the group while they were still outside. Best Buy forces everyone to stand in a line to get in while at the Walmart, everyone was pretty much just pressed up against the glass waiting to get in. Also, I heard that the police will be reviewing the security camera footage so that they can charge some of the people responsible. |

Not just ridiculous, but an incentive for fanatical shoppers to purposely trample the shit out of people. IF YOU WANT TO LIVE, STAY AWAY FROM MALLS NEXT YEAR |
