It wouldn't really affect me. Another girl. Meh.
That can't be possible.
Let's see, how about not only no but hell no?
Don't really care about perfect dark, but if the director of the transporter or bourne movies came onboard, I'd watch it. I'm so over bond that I'm looking more and more like a bridge each day.
JD would have been a fun inside joke if she was in Tomorrow Never Dies, or The World is Not Enough. One of the post-Goldeneye films with Brosnan still as Bond. With DC in the remake series, I wouldn't want any crossovers.
I believe only a "Dr. No" would suffice. =D
I wouldn't care and I don't see why they would. If they put Daniel Craig as Bond then I wouldn't care if they had Yao Ming as Oddjob. That series is dead to me.
Also IMHO Judy Dench makes the best M.
I totally agree. The later Brosnan movies were pretty ridiculous in terms of plot and over the top gadgets. I am extremely happy with the direction the Daniel Craig movies have gone.
Take one of the few decently strong and genuinely human heroines (Her later game was kind of heavy on the eye candy and of course she is good looking, but who isn't in media?) heroines of video gaming and turn her into more Bond eye candy? Awesome! The only good female character in the Bond films has basically been M after they switched him out with a her in Golden Eye.
Lets see... M is a much more powerful and commanding character who does not get pushed around and actually has the strength of person to reprimand Bond when he fucks up. Q's gadgets are becoming more practical, less comical, lending to the new series feel of being serious and realistic. Daniel Craig is twice the badass of Connery (eighty times the badass of Moore), more physical, more serious and determined rather than jesting and coy, not to mention he doesn't wear the shit-eating grin of previous Bond actors. You can take Craig seriously, and thus can take his films seriously. And he looks spy-ish as opposed to playboyish (Connery) or geriatric (Moore). Add to all this, ever-improving special effects and that they're restarting the series from book #1 instead of just continuing through with a new actor in some mid-series story. Yeah, I like the new Bond.
I like the new M, but really wish the gadgets were truly over the top again... Casino Royale IMO was one of the best bond films ever, but Quantum of Solace is one of the weakest. No plot twists, no gadgets, no over the top innuendo. None of the things that make a Bond movie so entertaining. Edit: I took so long, I forgot to respond to the OP. No. Really, no. She's a great lead character, and obviously in the same vein as Bond, but she could not be a sidekick, and I don't want to see the worlds come together.
In my eyes this is like a different tangent of Bond, the series that is dead to me is classic Bond, no like I've abandoned it but like it has been layed to rest and they have started a different series. It's like how I will approach the new Star Trek, same character names and setting but not a continuation of the other series, that way I don't have to make comparissions between the two.
Jesting, coy, and playboyish is what Bond is supposed to be. The Daniel Craig Bond may as well be "what Bourne did in his agent days". I'm not saying that they're necessarily worse movies, or that the Daniel Craig Bond is a less believable spy, but it's not Bond.
I totally read the title as "What if Joan of Arc was in the next 007 Movie?" I was confused and slightly excited. Imagine a "Ye Olde" Bond movie. It would be so cheesy-good!
I agree with you Khell, but god damnit I'm still trying to figure out that "shut up" picture. Something tells me it's going be obvious and I'm going to look stupid for not getting it.
Rest = Silence, Fermata = Hold the indicated tone for a longer period.
And they're not just opportunities for product placement, a welcome change after Die Another Day. EDIT: As for the OP: Now if we could get Rodney Dangerfield (re-animated) as a cameo... well thats a different story entirely.
I'd probably be all "OMG video game character reference!" for a couple of seconds before I realized that I'd much rather see a Perfect Dark movie. Better yet, Perfect Dark on the Virtual Console. I know it won't happen, but I can always hope.
I have to say, I think the new direction that the Bond franchise is going in is better as well. I mean sure, I miss the Bonds where he would be shooting bad guys one minute and then making out with some female with some sex pun for a name in the next, but this is now a heck of a lot better then the unbelievable story writing, bland Bond Girls and sheer mind-breaking they were getting in the 90s there. Yeah Brosnan was a decent Bond, but Die Another Day was utter tripe. I mean a North Korean becoming a Frenchman in Iceland? Really? That makes no sense! These new Bond movies are going for a realistic feel, which I really like. I don't think Quantum of Solace is as good as Casino Royale, but I do believe that that was going to be the case anyways. QoS seems to be the middle child in this modern day Bond trilogy that they have going, and the middle child is always going to be a little weird (see the name) and a little bit boring as well (see Dominic's death, if I just spoiled the ending for anyone else, how could you not tell the bad guy was going to die, it happens in 90% of movies!) But again I say Casino Royale was an excellent movie, QoS was a decent movie, and I have no doubt that we'll be talking about the third film in 20 years as one of the best of the Series. Probably not for the Soundtrack, what with the Killers et to come on board for it, but still, it's gotta be good, right?
Stop saying that Bond is just ripping off Bourne with the more serious, brutal direction that they're taking. They are just being more true to the series. Bond is just an assassin. There's nearly half a century between Goldfinger - they are not a linked series, it's just a franchise. It's up to each writer/director to do what they want with it, and you aren't going to get the same film every time. With that long between films they are bound to be different, and if they want to do a gritty Bond that's fine by me. Trouble with Quantum of Solace is that it was bad. There was NO dialogue, the girl was totally irrelevant, the plot was shite and had massive holes and arbitrary events, like them getting on that plane so there could be a plane battle. Which wasn't particularly entertaining. Like that boat chase. That was just terrible. The scene at the Opera House was fine. But the rest was terrible. Daniel Craig though is excellent and I love him.
No thanks, but I'd love to see a Perfect Dark movie.
It'd still suck. Tomorrow Never Dies was the last bond film that didn't completely suck. Brosnan was good, but everything else in the other two was bad. Daniel Craig is the least charismatic chap since Orlando Bloom, and him and his pout annoy the hell outta me.
I was walking out of Quantum of Solace the other day when I turned to my friend and said, "You know what, I was somehow expecting that chick to say her real name was Joanna Dark."
Could you just imagine though? Even if she only appeared in the movie for like one short scene, would that not make the movie just worth seeing? She could just be a young Dark who stumbles across Bond in the movie for one second.
How would something like that affect you? Do you not care about Perfect Dark anymore, or would it make you see the movie even if you didn't like the recent movies, or would it just be cool, or what?
