Haven't you ever heard not to believe you're parents? Anyway, Iron Ninja stole what I was going to say(Damn you for being so fast >.<.) Anyway, I agree with him. COOL really isn't anything special to be called. Your friends may think you're cool, but then again, there are people who think you're a complete asshole. It really varies on the person. |

BANNED Posts: 2498 Joined: 19 Aug 2008 | I couldn't care less, I'm considered cool at my school but thats just because of the people I hang out with. I still get the occasional quip about being a nerd here and there. User was banned for: Poll: Round 5 - Field of Four - (1) Turbine vs (1) Nintendo. (Permanent) |

Paperboy Posts: 39 Joined: 7 Nov 2008 | Don't know, don't care. Some people seem to think I'm cool, but I don't, and I certainly don't try to be. Guess Coolness is as coolness does. |

So I have the choice of being a conformist and feel constantly under pressure to impress my peers with my ability to be 'cool'. Or I have the choice of being a fashionable nonconformist? I don't see a middle ground there... I'd rather do and act as I please as opposed to what other people tell me. |

So do we. Anyways to answer the question, I'm not cool but I'm liked. I really don't give a shit what most people think. Most of the cool people are either douchebags or annoying as hell. |
Pulitzer Laureate Posts: 745 Joined: 25 Mar 2008 | I don't drink, I don't smoke, I don't do drugs. So, not cool in any way at first sight. People who think that I'm lame because I don't drink aren't "cool" either in my opinion, so it all balances out. |

Gone Gonzo Posts: 1404 Joined: 29 May 2008 | I don't really care either way, though i'm referred to as 'a cool geek'. Which could be taken two ways, but i long ago stopped caring what other people think. |
Copy Clerk Posts: 75 Joined: 27 Oct 2008 | How does one define cool? is cool the presence of popularity? The abscence of counter-culture or anti-conformity? If so then being cool come at the cost of free thinking, I am not cool, not only do I not say i'm cool but I avidly defend my uncoolness. In the 21st century cool has somehow become defined as jocks or cheerleaders or "popular kids" but when an entire world is being redifined with the constant advancement of electronics and technology shouldn't people on the forefront of this field be considered 'cool'? the world is constantly changing and people seem content to live in the 90's. It's also interesting to note that no one is ever cool, just uncool. By being yourself and not caring about social judgement we somehow cast ourselves out of society, people are content with conformity and the presence of free thinkers and people who are able and willing to defend their point and not listen to sheeple has diminished sizebly. |

Gone Gonzo Posts: 1792 Joined: 12 Jul 2008 | The word cool is subjective. It depends on your perspective, but in most perspectives, I am not, but I don't care that much. |

If someone calls themself cool it's either ironically or not cool at all. |
Gone Gonzo Posts: 2437 Joined: 6 Jun 2008 | I call myself cool out of irony, though I'm not cool at all. |
Paperboy Posts: 41 Joined: 17 Jun 2008 | dunno i think the people i hang with are pretty cool. but thats just my point of view dont know 'bout everyone else |
Copy Clerk Posts: 125 Joined: 26 Oct 2008 | I've been accused of being "cool" before. I will vehemently deny it as it is my goal to be uncool, unattractive and so on. I have asked those accusers just what it is about me that has made them come to this conclusion about me and the same general things keep popping up... "You do your own thing, act your own way without caring what other people might say about you. You have the guts to go and do something even if you might look like a fool doing it. You're polite and never rude. You've almost always got a smile on your face and if you haven't got one, if anyone approaches you it's like you were just keeping it warm in your pocket waiting for them." I suppose, however, that to understand all of this you would have to meet me or someone as powerfully cool as me. I wish you the best of luck in doing so. |

If I knew someone who owned a cool, I'd probably refer to it, when speaking to them, as "Your cool". But as I never knew it was a noun, this has never come up in conversation. As Christmas is right around the corner, point me in the direction of one of these cools and I shall purchase one for my closest friend and ally, then see if the opportunity arises to say "Your Cool".
