Esp Vipers! But for the best combo. Get an ESP viper with dual EMG pickups. *Orgasms* Metal is life.
Um... Fender, anyone? Anyone? I have a Squier by Fender jazz bass (since I'm not a guitarist), and I prefer the sound of Fenders over others, like Ibanez and Dean (and I actually really don't like Ibanez guitars). Gibsons have a superior sound but I don't like the body on them or Les Pauls... Either way, my big bass purchase, once I'm really good, will (eventually) be a Fender American Deluxe jazz bass, because I refuse to go from Squier to Rickenbacker (the penultimate goal... oh, Rickenbackers...). And what about PRS? Unbelievably expensive but oh-so-nice...
Oops, I chose before I read the thread. I chose Gibson, just because I adore them. But if you go into the heavier things then the Ibanez is probably a good choice. Cannot go wrong with a Dean or even a Schecter.
Gibson ES-335 (or epiphone dot, not a lot of difference). this is the only guitar you will ever need.
Yeah it depends what music you're playing Emg pickups on a esp is bloody unbeatable. Fender guitars are great for heavy rock/jazz/rock/blues. PRS is also good, but way way to expensive.
I'm saying fender is bad by any means. It just doesn't interest me like it used to. But I'll put it on the thread anyway. EDIT: I'm NOT saying fender is bad by any means. It just doesn't interest me like it used to. But I'll put it on the thread anyway.
Gibson makes great guitars, of course, but my guitar of choice is B. C. Rich. Maybe because I'm a metalhead, but you need to look those up. They're cheap, too. http://www.woodbrass.com/images/woodbrass/B.C.RICH+BEAST+FR+PLATINUM+PRO+BK.JPG
I have a Washburn, and I love it. It is a great accoustic guitar, no matter what anyone says. But if I was going to buy one, it would be a Micheal Kelly. This one to be more precise.http://www.michaelkellyguitars.com/visionary_55fceS.html
Eh hem. LES PAUL!! Where is Les Paul? They make awesome guitars!
No I'm looking for an electric guitar, not saying acoustics are bad though.
just buy a flying V you know you want to
Uh dude... Gibson is the company who makes Les Pauls...
Boo, well then you need one of these. Micheal Kelly makes lots of great looking and sounding guitars. they do tend to be on the pricey side though.
Bugger. You did it after I voted Other for Fender. Oh well. I prefer Fenders because of their looks with sound. I prefer the sound on a Gibson, by far, but I can't stand what I term the "snowman" body.
But sooo nice... If only I had $4000 to blow on a guitar (an instrument I don't even play... yet...).
Not saying that B.C's are bad, but they're just a little to... bold for me.
Go Ibanez I loved mine. Got a tele now and I love it too but you need a guitar that can do metal.
For a solid guitar with a good range of versitility you can't go wrong with an Ibanez, something from the S-series preferably, good on a clean channel for your standard rock/funk/bluesy type stuff but robust enough to handle a nice bit of chugg if you ramp it into an overdrive channel or through a decent stompbox (Boss MT-2 Metalzone my personal favourite). A good friend of mine use to be heavily into ESP guitars until he played my S520-EX and 2 weeks later he got rid of his ESP Viper and opted for an Ibanez custom with INF1 neck pickup and Seymour Duncan active bridge pickup and I've honestly never played a guitar with nicer sound, and they're very easy to play as being built for metal, Ibanez make a thin but sturdy neck with an awesome action. I also have a Gibson Les Paul BFG, a Fender Strat and a virtually unheard of guitar called a Crafter Cruiser which I picked up second hand for £90 but is my second fav after the Ibanez.
I heard that Ibanez can be very... Twangy, making them a strict lead guitar. But like anyway yeah, Herman Li and Sam Totman, yeah.
Gibson Firebird. BEHOLD!
| |
Gibson Les Paul... I don't think there is anything left to say.
Not a big dragonforce fan actually. They aren't very good live, and by "not very good" I meant horrible. Noodles, however, uses an Ibanez.
I don't understand the love of Ibanez guitars but maybe it's a metal thing (a genre of music I just don't listen to).
For mainstream guitars, it has to be Godin. Any other choice is terrible by comparison.
Here's my next question. Did ESP derive from Gibson?
No. The Wikipedia article (while lacking in sources) has it right. ESP has made it's living... well... copying other manufacturers. Don't hurt me, I'm just callin 'em like I sees 'em!
They do it well though. | |
Well there isn't really a 'best' brand. I personally prefer Ibanez 7-strings, but like PRS and Taylor accoustics.
That's like saying Airborne do a good AC/DC impression. Yeah it's true but should they get credit for taking the designs of someone else and tweaking them a little to make them more mass-market? ESP guitars are ok but Gibson will always lead the way.
That's what I'll do, but I would like to here the peoples opinion.
The god of the guitaring world..Les Paul!
Jackson DXMG $440. I suggest this to most beginners who want to go one up without spending to much money. Although I'd probably have a different suggestion for you if you let me know how long you've been playing.
Go Fender and don't look back.
Where is the Epiphone love?

I am looking for a new guitar that I don't mind spending a few bucks on in order to use it in a band. I'm a lead guitar player and I think that I narrowed my choices to Ibanez, ESP, Gibson, or maybe a Dean (Or other: please specify). I like metal, Rock and things of the alike, and I think I'm leaning toward ESP. What do you recomend.
