I'll change my avatar as long as no holly is involved. I'm Jewish and I would prefer to sport "holiday items" that are inspired by Jewish holidays rather than Christian ones, if that makes any sense.

holly really is quite festive isn't it?, it even gives trolls Christmas spirit.

There seems to be a pretty good amount of holly being spread around, even if there are a few who deny it. Some people just like to be deliberately awkward.
I'm willing to forgive the religious types, that's an exception, and I don't want to get into any kind of angry debate.

And here I thought this was a huge Red Dwarf thread I had missed out on...

I went to bed, slept, woke up, thankfully didn't roll over into a pile of holy leaves, had breakfast, cleaned the mountain of snow off my car, drove gingerly to work while muttering about holly filled dreams, logged in at work...and BAAM: Holly.

Somehow...I'm at peace.

We don't do much for Christmas in our family. We dress up the house and my mom flexes her considerable cooking muscle and me and my brother eat at home. That's it.

We don't do the presents thing, that's done with Sinterklaas (he's the one on which Santa Claus was based after the other American colonists got jealous of the Dutch 5 december celebration around Saint Nicolas (which is why you still call him Saint Nick btw)) and we also don't do the massive family get-together, it's just the four of us (though sometimes an aunt or uncle comes over).

I still try to get into the mood though, lifting that winter depression is always a good thing.
