Being English i haven't learned any foreign languages. When abroad we just point and speak louder. Occasionally throwing in a 'me no speako de lingo' for good measure.

Are you sure you're not American?

Every one of my friends who go to foreign (non English-speaking) countries don't bother to learn the native language because "oh, they all speak English there anyway, why should I?"

So rude.

Oh and...
Mi cabesa es en fuego.
Spanish for my head is on fire. (I know its the wrong verb but its still funny.)

It should roughly translate to: The differently coulored tissues indicate that you will soon need a new box.

Foreign languages I can speak:

Swedish: Jag åt pajer med min broren. = I ate pies with my broter.

Russian: Я люблю ты! = I love you!

Latin: Agricolas specto. = I look at farmers.

Japanese: Kore wa watashino no hon desu. = This is my book (too lazy to use actual symbols).

I think that I can also add my mothers tongue, Finnish, as it is quite unfamiliar to you: Hyvää joulua! = Merry Christmas!

I'm studying all these languages at the same time and I somehow only rarely mess up with words. I more often mix Latin alphabets and Cyrillic alphabets (so for example I write H instead of N).

Je suis un etudient du francais, mais je ne suis pas tres fort avec ca. Eh... Je n'ai jamais des choses interessants pour dire. Et je suis tres sur que j'ai fait beaucoup des fauts dans ces phrases ici, mais ce n'est rien.

I have no idea how to put all the accents in on my keyboard, so excuse their lack, also excuse my lack of skill in structuring and writing sentences. I'm just a student.

Translation (hopefully): I'm a student of french, but I'm not very good at it. Eh (needs no translation)... I never have interesting things to say. And I'm very sure that I've made many errors in these phrases here, but it's nothing (don't care, I don't have all day to sit here laboriously crafting sentences.)

This is a great topic idea, though.

C'est une belle surprise que beaucoup de monde parle francais sur the escapist. La plupart du temps, je pense que je suis seule dans ma bilinguisme. Mais ca l'apparence d'etre pas le cas.

C'est preqsue deux annees maitenant que j'appris francais en cegep. Mon grammaire est horrible.

TehCookie:

watashi wa supain-go wo hanashimasen demo nihon-go wo hanashimasu

(even if my Spanish seems ok I still failed the class)

Demo is used only at the beginning of the sentence. If you're looking for a "but" in the middle of the sentence, use "kedo" or "ga". :]

It should be written as follows:
わたし は スペイン語 を 話しません けど 日本語 を はなします.
Watashi wa supeingo wo hanashimasen kedo nihongo wo hanashimasu.

Það tala reyndar aðeins fleiri en 300þús íslensku. Það er mjög vinsælt að læra íslensku í sumum háskólum í BNA og japan.

Je parle une peu de francais mais pas tres bien. Je puex comprendre c'est bien mais mon grammaire c'est tres horrible.

I really hope that says 'I speak a little French but not very well. I can understand it ok but my grammer is horrible.' I took three years of French class and really enjoyed it but couldn't fit it into my schedule this year. I can feel myself falling out of practise. It's really bad.

Ana ba'hkish 'arabi.

"I don't speak Arabic," though that is a lie. ...wala wa'had betkallam log'hte. El'haso tizi...

Ivrit ve ponnit hem safot meod domot.

"Hebrew and Punic are very similar languages." - The sentence is actually legible in both Hebrew and Punic, apart from issues of pronunciation. I am fluent in both of those as well as Arabic.

---

From my days playing Soldat I picked up 'kurwa' which means 'bitch' or 'whore' in Polish, as well as 'chibi,' which is 'tiny' in Japanese.

---

I wish I knew Italian. Any Italian speakers: enlighten me with a funny sentence.

ちくしょ。。。貴方たち は 日本語 が 全然 話しません? 残念 です ね。。。でも この 人 が 日本語 を 勉強 したい、 がんばって!

Dammit, you guys don't speak Japanese at all? That's too bad...but for those that want to study Japanese, ganbatte/I'm cheering you on/etc.! (My particles are a bit weak, I might have messed up a bit...and I'm not supposed to say ちくしょ if I'm polite)

I speak a Russian a little bit. The keyboard (layout) is strange (I'm not sure how'd you really say this though)

Raziel_Likes_Souls:
Espanol puta
Spanish bitch

Isn't puta closer to prostitute than bitch? I ask because joking around in our spanish lessons we used to say our teacher ran a "puta mercado" to annoy him (quick and dirty made up spanish for prostitute market) not knowing the correct term we used other insults mainly focusing on the word Bocadilla (sandwich) but I won't go there.

As for my contribution?

Yassou (spelling is terrible here I think)~Greek
Voudrais aidez moi s'il vous plait? ~French (again dodgy? used a free translator to spell check and I can't seem to get the "you" part of what im trying to say right)
¿Donde ésta el supermercado? ~Spanish
Efkharisto back to Greek

Hello
Can you please help me?
Where is the supermarket?
Thank you

I can speak a fair amount of french and spanish but I can read it far better. Greek I only know hello and thank you as I think its rude to go to a country and not at the very least learn the basics such as please, thank you and hello.
Edit

What does Chikosho (was that romanized right?) translate as? Is it literally dammit? I can barely speak any Japanese but I can read and right hiragana and most katakana; just need to finish up on the kata then start on those infernal Kanji.

えいが は なん-じ から です か?
Eiga wa nan-ji kara desu ka? (Lit: The film; what time is it starting?)

Well english isn't my first language anyway, but I guess I should use my main one.

Motociklų avarijos yra puikus budas susilaužyti kelis kaulus. (Lithuanian)
Motorbike crashes are a great way to break a few bones.

Russian is a pain to write in latin letters for me so I'll pass on that.

Ich habe Deutsch fur zwei Jahr gelernt.

I studied German for two years (and I'm doing the IGCSE for it with half required experience ^^)

"Chikusho" is a curse word, literally meaning dammit. It's main use is actually more to do with being frustrated than profanity, but it's still not polite to say in public.

Hehe, I remember learning examples like that from the textbook (btw, is yours Yookoso? It's probably the most common one I know of), just a bit of advice: a LOT of the stuff in the books is outdated. Here's one thing to remember for future use:

To ask for the bill at a restaurant, your book will probably say either:
きっぷ おねがいします.
or
チケエト おねがいします.

Both mean Bill/Ticket, but if you said this in Japan people might laugh at you (because it's considered so archaic). Use おかんじょ おねがいします。
