Gone Gonzo Posts: 3957 Joined: 7 Nov 2007 | All hope is gone and elect the dead... that wouldn't go well with the slipknot band or Serj, and the rest sound a bit "Naf" to be honest. In fact, none of those suit metal in my opinion. |
Pulitzer Laureate Posts: 871 Joined: 20 Dec 2007 | Well I was playing Rock Band 2 the other day and when you pick a band name it gives you a random name to start off with. I got names like Material Five and Fatal Hill. I don't think those names really make any sense nor do they mean anything, but I guess they sound kind of cool. |

Copy Clerk Posts: 58 Joined: 12 Dec 2008 | Well we dont really declare it a subgenre, we just do good ole metal like how As I Lay Dying used to and how Lamb of God does |
Press Junketeer Posts: 387 Joined: 12 Jul 2008 | What kind of metal are you playing? Out of those, Elect the Dead were my favorite.
I like that one. |

Tomb of Doom in a room with a broom, Sorry, I was having fun. Now have your friends agreed to all of the items on this list? I have always gone for really odd and strange names, like my RB2 band is "Yalapalooza Pops". |

Gone Gonzo Posts: 2279 Joined: 16 Aug 2008 | I think you should pick a band name that sounds cool but doesn't mean anything, like Dir en Grey. |

As I Lay Dying is subgenre'd as 'hardcore metal'. Or so many people I know seem to think. However, I'd suggest trying for something original man, cause well...most of the stuff you listed is not creative at all. My old band just renamed themselves Divinity In Death after their move to 'hardcore' |

(I don't know why but I felt the need to say that) But honestly go for a name off the beaten path. Make people think twice when they hear the band name. Livin' In Dysentry (LOD....Lord of Destruction... see what I did there) Crime of Cholera I dunno just random stuff. I would be more likely to listen to a band with a weird name but maybe that's just me. |

Time to put my blunt hat on. They are all terrible names. I mean godawful, foul creations. |
Press Junketeer Posts: 429 Joined: 26 Sep 2008 | If your planning on going serious (difficult depending on talent) then google a name before you use it and do a myspace search as well; for example as stated above elect the dead is an albumn from serj tankian (lead singer of system of a down), break the sky is already a band, ember to inferno is a trivium albumn, tomb of doom is a copy right board game and those are just the top of my head. If your just doing it for fun disregard that previous paragraph and call it whatever you like. |

Copy Clerk Posts: 113 Joined: 16 Aug 2008 | The Bengals That's depressing enough, right? Serious names: Banshee, Bakunawa (Phillipine god of the underworld, usually depicted as a sea serpent). Thats all I got. |

in this vein, name your band No It's My Precious. |

Gone Gonzo Posts: 1044 Joined: 2 Jul 2008 | A suggestion-A name I wanted to give to a band I made but I doubt I will ever make one- call the band 'Deadlight' or 'Deadlights' Its from Stephen Kings It. The Deadlights are another realm beyond ours that the monster from the book was created in. |
Pulitzer Laureate Posts: 828 Joined: 12 Aug 2008 | My friend and I (who are the least metal people ever) decided if we ever start a metal band it'll be called Asphyxiation Catastrophe. The band would have 7 vocalists. One bassist (his bass would only have one string) and a guy behind four Bass drums all with double pedal. |

I vote for that. |

I think that would make a great name for a metal band. |
Gone Gonzo Posts: 1615 Joined: 4 Jul 2008 | how about "State of Anarchy" |
Gone Gonzo Posts: 1764 Joined: 22 Oct 2008 | How about "The Generic Metal Band" or "The Couldn't-Think-Of-A-Name Band"? Seems appropriate. |
Press Junketeer Posts: 429 Joined: 26 Sep 2008 | I would have suggested "The Harlequins" after the psychopathic group of the same name from "The Traveller" series of books alternatively if you can find any lovecraftian type phrases that arn't trademarked I suggest looking into them. How hardcore a metal group are you going for? Singing or screaming? Makes a difference in terms of possible names. |
