noobs. you use a katana or a foil, if you absolutely must get in close. both excelent zombie killing weapons. and the katana excelent for a zombie apocalype scenario, because IIRC the design was such that they did not need sharpening, and were measued by how many bodies they cut through cleanly (the good ones were 5-i got stuck on the history channel). i would have to say a good ol fashioned katana if you MUST kill zombies with melee weapons-and no, dont say "but i dont have one at my house" because im pretty damn sure i dont have a sword made out of daimonds.

an alternative being a foil, but only if you previously did a LOT of fencing. good peircing weapon and super-light.

but even better... flaming lightsaber

if you can hit a person, much less a zombie, in the eye with a foil under the amount of fear and stress, maybe. but the foil is an ineffective weapon. it can't break the skull. You'd be better off with a heavy bladed weapon like a machete, that could decapitate or damage the brain.

Foils are deadly against people actually, and pretty darn brutal. If you use a sword to kill someone it's "slash, dead", it you use a foil it's "stab, stab, stab, stab, rip, stab, stab, rip, rip, stab, pierce, stab, slowly bleed to death in excrutiating agony".

But against a zombie that's going to take a pretty number of stabs.

Nah, diamonds are of course really hard, but a hammer is much heavier, so it would serve as a much better skull crusher.

The human skull is one of the hardest bones in nature. Your Both wrong really. A hammer can crush the skull but its weight limits your blows and if you miss your screwed if you dont pull your arm back in time. A sword is only good if you can cut the head off, and I highly doubt a sword made out of 'dymond' will do that. Firstly, if its made out of real dymond you must be one rich bastard, secondly I dont think it would be very useful for anything other than looking good in the living room. You'd be better off get you hands on a sword made by a ye olde blacksmith and use it to only cut the head off, using a sword to chop down on the skull wont work unless you thrust into the eye socket. Read the Zombie Survival Guide, it tells you everything you need to know.

ive met people who can supposedly swat flies with the things, so yeah im guessing an eye wouldnt be too hard a target.

Katanas are great for causing lacerations but zombie resilience will make swordcuts ineffective
Decapitation would be easier due to lower resistance due to decay.
Personally I would more use a hammer to break leg bones then flee rather than stick around to finish off a group.

A Diamond sword isn't such a great idea.

IIRC:
Diamond has a lot of hardness because of it's structure that makes it difficult to change it's shape.

What it doesn't have is a lot of toughness which means it's resistance to shattering or chipping isn't the greatest.

If the hammer is a sledge hammer it would definitely be the better choice imo.

For them maybe. Us mere mortals will have to come up with less impressive ways to kill them.

I'd say a crowbar would probably be best. You need the weight to be behind a small surface area for it to smash into the skull.

Whats with all the diamonds diamonds are hard yes but no where near abundant enough to make whole weapons out of just get yourself something long and sharp and stab for the eye

I would go for a poleaxe. At around 2 metres long it allows you to keep your distance, has an axe for decapitation, a spear head for stabbing and either a blunt end for crushing or a smaller spike for smashing into the side of the head. Such a weapon would be very effective at keeping a hoard at a safe distance from you and would be even more effective in a hallway.

Oh and no matter how the diamond sword is made, whether it is from one large diamond or a collection of diamonds, it would shatter as soon as it hit anything hard. Hit the ground or a wall once and there goes your weapon.

Ryuzaki, what do you do against a horde in a hallway? Stab the first one? Besides, one of those is really heavy and awkward carrying around, you want to be mobile. Otherwise I would have taken one as well. It's a really neat weapon.

Shotgun= Useless it requires that the zombies get way to close not to mention slow firing speed and reload time you want a semi automatic something that reloads quick aim head height and rake across the masses ^_^ you want a shotgun like weapon for up close? I suggust regular hand guns loaded with rat shot they are like tiny shotgun shells same killing power with faster reload time firing speed and clip size.

The Zombie survival manual suggests a Machete. They also suggest not engaging zombies in close quarters combat.

Back in the days of LANing 8-12 of my closest friends and playing massive amounts of Mod and "honest to god" DoD(Day of Defeat) there was nothing more satisifing than a trench shovel death (yea i know my spelling sucks, bite me). The shouts of joy and victorious arm pumpage followed by a few words of wisdom from the victim was most satisifing.

If one could keep a trenching shovel sharp enough for multiple kills this would be my choice, but as posted before the crowbar is the most functional and i would say falls under the improved axe listings.

I would melt down the diamonds then smelt them and last but not least make a diamond sword! :D
