Hello, fellow escapees.
I'm wondering what instrument the escapist community plays/played, how long they've played it, and/or how they feel about their particular instrument.
Personally, I've played the guitar for 7 years.
I did search for a thread like this, but found nothing, but I'm apologizing in advance if this has been done before.

I play my silver tongue. Not in singing, but in speaking.

I have no talent for instruments. I've had an acoustic guitar for a year, but I barely practice it. Cursed schooling.

Guitar = 8 years (or so). I play an Epiphone dot and a Fender Telecaster through a Vox AC30cc2

Bass = I started playing bass out of necessity, on and off for about 5 years. I dont have a bass at the moment

Harmonica = 2 years. I got one for Christmas one year. i love it, it's awesome. I have a whole set of different keys now

ukulele = about 2 months. I bought it on a whim. its cool sounding and not that much more difficult to play than guitar

Drums = NEXT. im gonna get an electronic drum kit when i can afford it and learn to play

i can also sing

I've been DJ'ing since 2000, and creating house music since 97. The wheels of steel are my instruments.

I tried many different instruments as a young buck, but lacked musical talent, thus, I became a DJ...once I could afford it that is...

EDIT: PM me if you're into house music and I'll send you a link for a set I just did.

I've been told I can sing pretty well. I only ever sing when I'm in a really, really good mood, but people seem to like it.

I shall represent the Mandolin and the String Bass (the giant wooden beast you can play with a bow), since all the other instruments I play are probably going to be covered in due time.

Did choir in school, and then some keyboard afterward. Didn't amount to much, though, and both have rusted pretty badly over the years.

I've played lots of brass instruments. Trumpet for four years, Euphonium for five, trombone for two. I sang a lot in high school too. I was one of three tenors, I got shit for it but at least I got to stand out a bit.

Look up Jake Shimbakoro (I think I spelled that right) he's like Jesus with a ukulele. And that's coming form someone who listens to death metal.

I am a drummer, I hit things with sticks, am self taught, and I am damn good at it; 4 years and counting on the drums. I also played the trumpet from 4th to 7th grade. Didn't like it too much after I had braces put on, so the drums became my main instrument.

Vocals for...ever

harmonica for 6 years

trumpet for 5 years

guitar for 2 months

For a guy thats never used a string instrument, guitar is difficult to get used too.

I play violin, guitar, bass, and keyboard, and I also sing. I've played each since I was around twelve. I've been wanting to get a theremin and a saxophone as well, but I haven't had the time or money to get my hands on them recently.

I've played trumpet for 6 years now, 2 years so far in high school marching band (7th best in Michigan, woohoo!) and that's about it.

Where do you live?
Good and willing male singers are so hard to find

I've been drumming for a year and a half - stll in the "make a lot of noise" phase but am enjoying just the groove and feel of a beat more and more lately

Cello.

It is awesome, sublime, frustrating, invigorating, tedious, inspiring, depressing, uplifting, fun, inventive, satisfying, and a billion other words that I could list (and want to, but can't think of them at the moment), but won't. One word it never is, however, is boring. Just as good as every other musical instrument out there, except the cello requires its own plane ticket and has a case shaped like a bowling pin.

That's just my main instrument, though. I play the piano proficiently and used to sing.

.....And I whistle quite often. People often describe it as 'piercing'.......

On that note, I feel really lucky that I'm in the school that I am. We have almost as many Tenors, Baritones and Basses combined as we do Sopranos, largely thanks to our chorus teachers enthusiasm.

Quads for school percussion and the modern drum set for various bands, 4 years each.

I adore my instruments.

I've played the bass for just under two years now, and I've fiddled around with the guitar for a bit recently.

We have the "Cock-Willing" syndrome here in lincolnshire
In that only the cocks who can't sing are willing to stand behind a microphone

I can sing in conjunction with music, but without the melody I can't find the right intonations.

Uh I've played guitar for a little over 2 years, trombone for about 2, and piano for about 7.

I play bass, and I'm probably going to pick up guitar sometime next year.

Mad love to fellow lefty rockers.

I've played guitar for about two years now and piano for a bit less than a year.

The funny part is that I'm left-handed, but I play right-handed guitar.

Lefty guitar is too awkward to play.
